I know I’m late to the sxs game but just installing the drs spring kit on my brand new 23 max smart shox👍 today. This is the best daymn instruction video ever. Can’t wait to get the ride improvment kit next when my shocks need a rebuilds👍👍👍
This is a really good video. I have been watching pretty much every video about X3 suspension stuff. I am honestly ordering sprins now. Like right now.
Nice video, lots of info and makes much more sense. Have Mark at Queens sending mine in this week, I’m hoping that I can stop bottoming out my XRS. Family ride with coolers spare tire, jack and lots of hope it doesn’t break but I have the tools to fix it weight. Still run it like I stole it but has to be semi reliable . Looking forward to what you do with my set.
I just installed your springs on my 2020 X3 rr max. A huge difference. The marshmallow corners are gone. The control is much tighter. Question: where should I put the high and low speed compression settings as start? Where should the rebound be as well for trails that are fast straight and lots whoops? Also settings for trails that are slower and bumpy? Thanks in advance Pat.
If your shock internals are stock then start in the middle of your adjustments. Since there is a total of 4 turns in all adjusters set them at two turns. Slower trails you may prefer a softer ride so less compression. Faster trails might require more. Whoops may need more ore less rebound. Just depends on the shape and frequency of the whoops. This is very subjective and you will like a set up difference from someone else. Best to try changes on the same section and see what you like. You can always go back to the baseline if you don’t like it. Glad you love the spring kit. 👍🏼👍🏼
Great, great video. I would love your advice. My sand tires are labeled as 30's but they only measure 27" tall because not only are they Skat Traks, which are scrubbed thinner for the sand, but they are also inflated to only 7 PSI for dune riding. First question: Do you guys measure true tire height and adjust the goal of 16" ride height accordingly, or do you accept the stated tire height on the sidewall? Anyway, with these tires my 2019 Can Am X3 Max XRS sits at 13" ride height with the driver seated. (It was 11" before I had the dealer increase the preload). They increased the preload to 5.25" in the front and 10.25" in the back to get the 13" ride height. Cross-over measurements are 7.75" in the front and 13.25" in the back. (All are measured exactly as prescribed in your video). Total spring length (installed) is now 17.5" at the front and 21" at the back. My XRS has only 400 miles on it (it sat unused for a long time). Adjusting for all that, I calculate that I would be 16" ride height if I had 30" true tire height. Does that sound right? Last question: Does it sound like I am okay for now, or should I consider ordering your springs? I would love your thoughts.
@@ShockTherapyllc Awesome. thanks for the quick reply. I met a group of 6 Can Ams when I was at the St. Anthony Sand Dunes in Idaho, and they all raved about your springs. They said the improvement was incredible.
BTW the front springs are next to impossible without a proper spring compressor like would be found in a shop. Widow-makers and ratchet straps will NOT work. That being said, the rears are GRAVY and can be done pretty easy at home.
I recently bought a dual rate suspension kit from you and will be installing them this weekend. I have a 2021 XRS Turbo RR Smart Shox with 30" tires. Are the given adjustments and the numbers in the video same for my X3?
The smart shox have a wire coming out of the bottom of the shock, what has to be done to replace the spring considering the plug for the wire is at the center of the car and the wire coming from the shock would be in the way?
Just remove it and reinstall after checking ride height. Just dont over tighten those screws... and dont get dirt i to that plug or you will have faults.
So I'm back and forth on selling my 2020 x3 rc 64 but have so much money dumped in it, cage, seats, wheels tires all the gussets etc also running your springs..... question is do you think selling and going to a 72 is worth the better travel vs a 64 with your springs a ris ?
I had to adjust the ride height on my x3 after I installed the springs and when I adjusted 3/4 of an inch in the rear, ride height changed by an inch and a half. 2:1?
So since im running 32"tires shouod i automatically set tge preload 1inch more than what you guys suggest on the video while adjusting the preload ring
Ok so one more question so why do you want to raise ride height with the bigger the tire? Or does it mean raise the preload to obviously lower tge car since your running a 32in tire instead of 30 inch
@@reneulloa2437 The measured height goes up as the tire gets taller. You don't actually change the pre load for that. We are just telling you to measure the ride height and adjust to that. The actual length of the shock at ride height is always the same.
If you told us that then the string kit will be modified from us to accommodate those. If you didn’t tell us then you will add more pre load to raise it up.
@@ShockTherapyllc Ordered my springs through One offroad here in Tucson, they're across the street from my shop, Audio 2000. My factory springs sagged 5 inches with only 712 miles on the car. It was very noticeable that the suspension deteriorated substantially as the car began to sag. This is a Smart shox car too.
1” in the front and 2” in the rear is not close. That is 2” of up travel and 4” of up travel at the tire. If you drive trails slower then you can raise them but not if you drive aggressive at all.
Really disappointed at Shock Therapy. They sell you a product but don't give you the set up for your machine. I have a 2021 Can AM maverick x3 xmr turbo rr. No instructions on how to set up the dual rate springs.

I wish I could like this video twice! The best shock education I've ever had.
The last 10 minutes is extremely valuable
I feel obligated to buy a spring kit after that 👍

Great! Very informative! Quick question, where could I buy one of those spring compressor's? What is the brand of the one you guys use?
Jack Tech. On Amazon. 👍🏼
The XRS has the extra 3rd spring on top rear. Does that just get removed completely?
Yes. Don’t use it

Typically what is the average life of the shock before needing a rebuild? I’m thinking of doing this since my springs did settle down.
Shock manufacturers recommend 2500-300 miles - more often if you race or drive like you do.
What brand is that compressor

Yes. The reason is the Byoass shocks on the 72 plus with really is nite and day. Do it👍

pro UTV parts,
Big pine sports
Rocky Mountain
Alpine xc
Kombustion Motorsports
The UTV pros

Do you guys have it in the same color? I have the same x3 but would like to keep the color on the springs
All our springs are silver. Different colors are on you to do👍

X3 are about 1 to 1 in the rear. Drive it around the block between adjustments. Make sure driver is in it every time when measuring.
Do the springs come in Can Am Red also?

What's the difference from doing the spring kit or send it to you to have them set up.
Clay Evans , the difference is re-valving
@@Workin1_az does re valving make a huge difference I the exact same car.
The spring kit improves the ride quality by about 30%. The spring and the internal shock work is double that. 60% improvement.
What if you've added additional weight like a spare & a heavier cage?
If you told us that then the string kit will be modified from us to accommodate those. If you didn’t tell us then you will add more pre load to raise it up.

My 18 X3 XRS has a 3 spring rear shock and spring set up. I noticed only 2 in the rear on the video. Anything special to note about that?
Ya I’m just doing mine and noticed this
4 seaters don’t have that 3rd spring
Why the crossover ring are so near the plastic divider?
1” in the front and 2” in the rear is not close. That is 2” of up travel and 4” of up travel at the tire. If you drive trails slower then you can raise them but not if you drive aggressive at all.
Which kit is this?
Are this measurements just for your springs
Leonel Ceballos yes. Just our springs
Would this apply for a 2021 X3 with Smart Shox
Yes sir
Great videos Justin, way easier than reading instructions lol. When is the steering rack coming for the x3?
Thank you. The X3 steering racks are in production now. We are 2 weeks away from 100 of them in stock.
Shock Therapyst, the steering rack seems like it will be a longer process to install, will there be a video about installing it also?
Do these measurements also pertain to the 64” models with qs3 shocks?
No sir. That is a completely different spring kit. Working on the instructions for that one.
