I can remember on August 9, 1995 getting in my car to drive to work around 1:30pm. The radio station was playing Touch of Grey and I was happy since they didn't often play the Dead. The next song was Playing in the Band and I thought to myself, wow this is unusual and then the played Ripple and I was shocked. Three songs in a row, what is going on? When it ended the DJ was saying that Jerry had passed on and they would be playing the Dead all day as a tribute. I almost turned around and went back home. I still went in, grief stricken and if I went back home it would have been worse. My co-workers knew of my love of Jerry and the band who I finally was able to meet back in the end of June and were very supportive and what I really needed at that time.
Ripple has a special place in my heart as it was the first Dead tune I heard. Been looking forward to this Deadcast and it was great...I don't know if there's a more touching heartfelt tune from the Dead's catalog than Ripple imho ✌️💜🎵🎶🌷⚡💀🧸
Ripple, To Lay Me Down and Brokedown Palace in one sitting!!!!!!??? Thank you Robert Hunter. Those of us who were around when he wrote them in 1970 and lived with them all these years are very lucky to have them be our touchstones. There is a profound sense of gratitude and soul that only that amount of time grants to someone who has experienced that.
I need this this morning more than most. Thank you. 🙏🏽 Hope you all are doing grate! I do know the music sure helps! “Let there be songs to fill the air” ...✌🏽

Stellar stories. I need an official Dead Ringers baseball jersey, Please make a run of em?
I think Rice and Webber may have based the song “Any Dream Will Do” from “Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat” on Ripple.
