I sang this tag at my wedding with a bunch of barbershop friends. We were in an old country estate in rural England. It would have taken twenty minutes to walk to the nearest inhabited location.
We got a noise complaint.
Proudest moment of my singing career
man, that's impressive😂
Barbershop is evolving fast. This is from “Love Never Dies”.
4:06 As the Kitzmiller brothers start singing you can just HEAR how closely related they are, absolutely astounding. The left flank completely EXPLODES with the "once more", it just blows you away.
And the last chord. Oof. Absolutely nailed it...just gets that sweet extra oompf that hits you like a truck.
I still can't get over how much of a beast Kyle is.
@Bill Corben the bass
@Bill Corben the second from the left haha
Doug good job doug you know which one Kyle is
Joetastic Good job, Joe. You're a pretentious ass hat.
3:12
Kohl is honestly one of the best baritones I've heard in my life. Truly a god of performance and expression, not to mention his precision and blend and how far he pushes the boundaries and range of the voice part.
@Bill Corben Kohl is far left
Reminds me of Jason January
I love the fact that you can tell who the tenor is based on facial expressions alone.
The bass's voice is so resonant and deep. Its so moving and touching, espicially in the begining.
Holy smokes... that unison in the tag! Unbelievable!
Truly moving. The musicality is astounding... But the ability to communicate so much emotion and depth with their faces and body actions... well it makes them an instant classic, pardon the pun.
I love the whole song, but the last quarter of a second - the way they release the song as a unit - is just astonishing.
Just saying but whoever did that ‘onceeee MAAAAAAHHHHRE’ nailed it👏🏼
I think that'd be David, the tenor on the far right
I'd say that was Kohl on the far left
@@jeremyrodrigues2751 Nope it's indeed David (Tenor). The Baritone goes over the tenor for the rest of the tag.
Unreal. I can't count the number of times I've listened to this song on their album, and here it is in a spectacular live performance. Deserving champs, no doubt.
Thomas Shaddox what do you listen to this song on? I couldn’t find this on Apple music
Colin Byer Their first album isn’t on Apple Music for some reason (but the second and third are). I bought the physical CD. I think you can also find the CD audio on RUclips.
@@colinbyer3018 Its on spotify.
brilliant idea to have unison of the three parts for the beginning of the tag - such a raw and holy sound as reminds one of chant and polyphonic classical music. it lifts up my soul.
+James Monsour Yeah, I love the idea of starting the phrase in unison then splitting into close harmony. It sounds great.
+James Monsour - I agree! This whole performance is super great! And, the unison at the tag also was very clever, not only musically, but afforded Theo the chance to sneak an extra breath at that moment for his ultimate post :)
+Mike Gabriella - I was wondering if anyone would catch that! ;) We added that this year... After we began committing to simply telling the story, it was hard to keep the breath support after the surge of emotion... So we added that in because we decided Kyle and David would be loud enough, and I could post the rest of it without any stress.
+Theo Hicks The execution of the "sneak" was perfect :) ... And to Theo, I hope you also caught the comment I left about a month ago; I totally LOVED this performance!
@@TheoHicks It never fails to give me chills
Instant Classic uptunes always slap, but their ballads are really something else. I actually found them kind of hard to listen to at first because the sheer intensity of both the emotion and the singing itself was kind of overwhelming (it still sometimes is), but the more I listen to barbershop, the more I appreciate a good ballad
"Dat Ring...."
"Which one?"
"Yep."
4:20 I love this chord, I love it because it sounds with a nostalgic tone
Theo’s use of vibrato is perfectly placed! So artistic!
Artists true!
The control for that is impressive
I like singing along with the Lead. It is very calming and fits my range well.
Very rare a song brings me to tears. Everything about this is nothing short of perfection. Just wow.
You should check out Ramon Karimloo singing this song. He was the original singer from the Musical Love Never Dies. His performance is breathtaking!
HOLY SHIT.
I LOVE this song (the source of it, less so), and never would have considered how good it works in this format.
These four are all very talented. I loved this.
This whole performance is so musical and brilliant. But, my absolute FAVORITE moment is from around 3:28 to 3:43. The vocal color is sooooo great in Theo's voice; for me, there is no score high enough for this emotional portion of the song!
One of my favorite barbshop arrangements ever!
Goosebumps every time I hear this performance. Bravo gentlemen!
There is so much emotion in this performance...love every second.
This song is brilliantly arranged by their lead! I also like how the mic distorts because they're so loud lol.
My favorite just so much emotion and rendition so moving. Instant classic gives it everything and I don't think I'll hear it differently ever!
watch their faces at the end..... they are still emotionally involved even though the song has ended and everyone is cheering, they are still in the music. Beautiful
I am FRUSTRATED that I can only like this video once!!! ❤❤❤❤❤
I could listen to Theo sing all day. Those other guys aren't too shabby either.
Wonderful!
Love this song, arrangement and performance! Superb commitment to the emotion, and still incredible singing.
Tag is killer, too... gotta add that to my list to learn and start teaching!
+Jamie Bedford I got you! www.barbershoptags.com/tag-3089-Til-I-Hear-You-Sing-(Instant-Classic-Version)
congratulations to the Kitzmiller Boys!!
That overtone on that last resolution wow
RIGHT?
I just learned about over tones in my high school band class and hearing it now is amzing
Holy crap, and this is even before they got their medals. I would love to hear it where they are now.
That tag! Bass up on what, F, F#? Love these guys so much
He can actually sing up to Ab
Ikr he went to a high F and it was resonant since he is a bass
4:06 that was a full body goose-bump kind of tag. That unison almost paralyzed my entire body.
Man I love this song so much it's one of my favorites done by Instant Classic! I listened to this song 4 or 5 songs in one day. It's so amazing and the emotion in this song is incredible. Amazing job, Guys!
Till I hear you RING once more. Geez. The last 20 seconds of the song they kept it ringing.
Wow! Incredible and beautiful!
Theo is absolutely amazing, he’s actually a professor for a university now
The unison is the best part of the tag. GORGEOUS.
they are almost otherwordly good, incredible
Thank you for this gift!!! So beautiful! Perfection from every part!!! (P.S. I wanted the melody to stay in the bass much longer.)
Absolutely beautiful blend of voices!
This is just absolutely amazing. I MUST join a quartet somehow just so I can sing that baritone part at the very end lol.
This is ridiculously good. Seriously.
I love this version! I love Love Never Dies!
So, so good. You guys have put a lot of work in with the right results arriving re tight chords locking in... good job.
Wow! Beautiful voice s
All of the chills.
My favorite quartet
A lot of people don’t like Love Never Dies but I actually enjoyed it. I mean, it’s not the best storyline in the world but the music was amazing.
Why have I not ever heard about this group before!???
great suits guys
Brb gonna learn this tag
Theo is such a great lead
I love the tag.
I love kyle
i love the phantom of the Opera and Love never dies
can it be more musical?? What a way of delivering
This is particularly awesome. Thank you. Whatever mic you use, I need one of those.
the IV-7 IV-6 I ending truly do be hitting different
I love it
Great great great!
lost its haunting sadness, but this is so great!!
There's just something about these guys that make me FEEL so hard
the final chord is literally *screaming* with overtones and I just can't get enough
Jeez, this is intense
Hoosiers are da best!
Wow!!!!
Try listening to this song stoned. O.M.G.
Why did this give me Disney vibes!
do they give point for the suits ? because they win on that alone !
Fantastic! Are the tenor and baritone switching parts at the end?
Is it customary in barbershop to cry at the end of a big ballad? Theo's face was getting very red by the end of the song. And it wasn't just from holding out the long note on the tag. At 4:22, all of them look sorrowful
tag @ 3:58
You know when something is so good you make that stinky face? That's what this tag makes me
is the baritone and base brothers?
visionZ yes
Theo hold that note for good 20sec danggg 4:04-4:25
I don't like Webber. But that added an entire new level of complexity to that song! Great singing of all 4 of them!
is kohl going over theo and dave?
At the end? Yes
Am I the only one who had to take a double take with the guy with the short hair on the left. I could have sworn it was Charlie Puth! LOL
like buffalo wild
far left looks like adam neely
It sounds like David is singin 3rd on the last chord
Yes. Kohl on the 5.
I mean....fucking hell
Of all the songs they could have chosen, this one? Why not Music of the Night? Why choose a song from the crappy sequel to PotO?
Just for anyone wondering, this song is from a musical called Love Never Dies, the sequel to the Phantom of the Opera.
I guess they liked the song. The musical it's from doesn't really make a difference imo. If you're interested, a group called Vocal Spectrum has sung a version of Music Of The Night.
@@Xander-W
My point was that they could have chosen a song from Phantom, which most fans agree has a much better soundtrack than its sequel. Though I guess if they just liked the song, then it's fine.
Also, I watched that. It was well done, but I prefer a soloist doing it :D
@@ianluk6385 agree to respectfully disagree I Love Love Never Dies and I love this piece and they did an outstanding job on it.
But I respect your opinion tho. Hope you are doing good btw.
Vocal Spectrum does "Music of the Night" - seems like the majority of barbershop quartets avoid singing works that other active quartets are known for?
Sounds depressing af
It's weird. Especially if you're used to Ben Lewis singing it.
Yeah nice harmonics but ruins the elegance and tragic passion of the original.
+Timothy L. There are no "harmonics". The HARMONY adds plenty of depth and beauty to the song though.
while that is true, but the phantom alone at the stage, gazing at a painting of Christine, is obviously lost with a quartet
+Kyle Barker actually, every single sound you'll ever hear (minus a pure sine wave) has harmonics. The human voice has many harmonics and when these guys ring chords in barbershop these harmonics reinforce each other. So yes, the harmony of different pitches is very nice and in tune, but all the respective harmonics are ringing as well.
+Kyle Hottel I am actually very aware of that, but I was responding to the way Timothy was using the word. People don't usually say "nice harmonics". Maybe "wonderful ringing harmonics in the tag".
I have heard nice harmonics, but nice harmony more often. Either way, I think the passion and interpretation of this version clearly isn’t meant for the same purpose as the original phantom version. Some may have heard that one first (not me), but you can still appreciate their use of the lyrics and melody in this new different way.
Great voices and a very talented group. That being said, you lose all the emotion and passion of this song when done in this style.
You must be listening to some other posting.
@@1106gary nope. I was listening to this one.
if only pentatonix were here then u would know what barbershop is all about
+luke brennan Except that Barbershop doesn't usually come with a beatboxer, regardless of how good the guy is.
Soz didnt mean to take away from your awesomeness just thought u would like these guys
@@brenno375 Ptx is great but they are not barbershop by no means
Of coarse it is.
Barbershop vocal harmony, as codified during the barbershop revival era (1930s-present), is a style of a cappella close harmony, or unaccompanied vocal music, characterized by consonant four-part chords for every melody note in a primarily homorhythmic texture.
Thats the definition in Google. If it's not barbershop, plz explain which category it falls into?
