  • Hello Ladies & Gentlemen and as always, thank you for watching!!! You just never know what the next call is going to bring. Tonight, I spend "Midnight In the Median", after a driver supposedly dropped off the edge of the road and got "sucked in" by the mud and water-filled median. We had some storms roll through earlier that evening that left the median a sloppy mess. It's difficult to see in the video, but the truck is buried pretty deep on the driver's side and there is 6-8" of water standing under and around the truck and trailer. This unit is loaded with a gross weight of around 76,000 lbs. I'm a little over an hour away from the shop. It's just me and our flagship #11, our Peterbilt 389X with a Miller Industries, Century 1150R rotator heavy towing and recovery unit versus this mired mess. Special thanks to the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the trooper who both "covered my 6" and patiently waited while I drove from our shop to the scene. I admit, both here and in the video, I took a short-cut to try to speed things up. This is not my normal way of doing things. It was a gamble, and, thankfully it worked. I hope you enjoy this video!!!
We have a difficult and dangerous job and we take it very seriously, that doesn't mean we can't have fun and enjoy our work. We strive to be polite, professional, efficient, and safe...and still can have fun. I hope you all enjoy this video!!! Thanks for watching and God bless!!!

Late night, completely dark, highway traffic zooming past just an arm's length away. It takes a special kind of person to do what you do every day. And you do it without complaining. Thank god for people like you and your entire team.
    Stay safe and healthy.

On the positive side- no injuries, no damage, no power lines, no wind or rain or snow, not a lot of traffic, a driver who was humble and followed directions, a Trooper on hand, and everyone left safely.

Last year, as the first snow fell here. I was driving first time this winter, in a car I wasn't used to. And I went to fast in a turn. Ended up outside the road in the snow. Very gently, no physical damage.
But, when I was getting towed out by a local farmer, we struggled to get me out of the ditch.
Until I remembered something you do, holding the brakes on the car. The wheels were rolling, keeping me in the ditch.
    And it helped immensly.
Thank you so much for your amazing content, and I learn so much. ❤️

Well, there are two kinds of truckers: The ones who've been in the ditch and the ones that will be in the ditch.
And for him it went not too bad, no injuries, nothing damaged, rig upright, so I'd call that a win.
Also he got pulled out quickly and professionally by Ron, that counts as bonus ;)

Great job. I could imagine it would be a bit of stress on the trucker it's scary when you get pulled off of the road and can't pull back on it I've been in that situation. It is embarrassing and nerve wracking. It just takes your spirit out of you for a while so it was good to go rest I'm just glad he was ok . Ty Ron for your service it's hard being out on the highway and being safe is important to both of you and the other driver. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🌹Stay safe and keep up the great work 🙂

There comes a time when some of the stuff needs to be off-loaded to a "tender." Either a trailer or a second truck dispatched to the same call. He's used the Traffic Control unit for this. This is one of the reasons why so many fire trucks are sent out.

The new paved section of 55 did you notice all the tracks off the road. I was like wow then I figured out why, it's because they haven't put in the rumble straps yet. Every idiot that is on his phone driving by brail instead of hitting the rumble strips is driving off into the grass getting a huge surprise.

I have the same problems that driver had about the bright lights on emergency vehicles. I have worked out on the highways recovering vehicles and always try to keep from blinding someone who is driving towards me. He showed his experience I believe, by not yanking the wheel back to the right to get on the highway. Great safe job to you both.

I had a '99 Freightliner Classic leased on with Dart for several years, and I must admit the vast majority of the drivers I encountered there seemed to be fairly competent drivers. Obviously, anytime you have that many trucks operating, you will eventually end up with an "Oh crap!" moment from time to time but they always seemed to have an extremely small number of reportable incidents company wide with both their contractors and "company" drivers (on paper these drivers actually were employed by "DartCo" which was owned by a family member of the Orens which was the family that actually owned Dart Transit).
IMHO of the companies I had my tractor leased to they and one other company out of PA were the 2 best companies that I had the absolute pleasure to work with!!!
I love your content, Mr. Pratt! Please keep 'em comin'!!!!! (I actually would love to see more episodes released, but I know that it's a HUGE JOB filming, editing, and publishing each one of these episodes.) Thanks to you and all of your team for taking us along for the ride, and for doing such an awesome job for our benefit!!!!!
🙏 May God bless and keep all of you in His loving, protecting arms! 🙏

No concussion but a severely cracked back and a couple of soft spots on the back of my head. The orthopedic surgeon only found cracks up and down my back. He put me into a back brace and ordered a Myelogram which sees 75% better resolution than an MRI. I have medications to take before this is done which will be on the 15th of March. Surprisingly enough I'm actually looking forward to this procedure.

Mr Ron needs more box compartments to hold all his stuff on board. Lots of good stuff never know what your going to need. Which one holds the universe widget. That we haven't seen used yet 🙊🙉🙈👽

Good afternoon Ron, from the UK. I have watched you for years and you still continue to brighten my Fridays!! You are a legend , sir!!. Looking at all the kit and stuff you carry on the Rotator, did it come with the truck or did you have to buy it afterwards. ? Also, do you have a process for checking over your gear and replacing when necessary? Stay safe. Best Wishes Roy W UK

That must have been embarrassing for the driver. I have had that happen to me before. I just got a little too close to the shoulder. At least nobody was hurt, and the truck was fine.

Ron you are a one man show on this nite. Your wife must be a understanding person for your crazy hours. Stay safe

I am VERY thankful that I do have an understanding wife. She smiles, says "I love you and be safe," each time the phone rings. We have been married 35 years in June and she sometimes will go with me on a run. Behind every good man is a great woman, with the patience of a saint. Thanks for watching and God bless.

That truck should stop thinking it can go as fast as a "DART". That what got it in this predicament.

HI Ron, I just wanted to mention that I noticed that it looked like Tator's Check Engine light was on in this video. I hope he doesn't have anything to serious wrong with him. Great job on the recovery too.
