i mean the piano relates to suga outside of just his character in the BU as well. he knows how to play the piano very well and he has an entire song dedicated to how the piano was his first love and it’s very sentimental and emotional. music is super important to him
This is my first ever BTS mv and Epiphany is the first ever song that I heard of BTS . Both of these songs hold a special place in my heart . My friends and I did dance to bwl in our college along with other BTS songs . And from then on it has been a really cheerful 2 and a half years being an ARMY
These were real sets (even the sliding wall), and they where built in the same location, so the boys just walked to the next set to shoot different scenes. Also, they were actually standing outside in front of a set, not a green screen lol Boy with Luv was the first music video for a lot of newer ARMYs in 2019.
When you said you felt like you’d seen the movie theatre (with “persona” sign) before, I wonder if it reminded you of the building that had the “Omelas” sign in Spring Day MV because it did for me (even the font is similar in the signs).
Not going to lie, I have found your videos REALLY helpful because I took Media Studies and if I hadn't started watching your videos before school started, then I would have absolutely no idea of any of the camera angles or terms of cinematography, but after watching your videos, I guess if got so ingrained that it's made it so much easier in class (we learn SO MUCH every lesson!!) So I just wanted to thank you for making school that much easier! Love your reactions!!
The highlight of this song is mainly all 7 of the members have different hair colors that is just awesome. I really enjoy how you explain cinematography and how the camera is used. KUDOS!
this was actually a REAL set made for this MV. they were outside with a lot o real sun in their faces lol. You will see when you react to the making of. it's not a green screen this time (only in the part of the couch with halsey)
BTS makes different sets together and move from one to another instead of fast cutting of scenes like other kpop MVs do. They are really creative when it comes to transitions
When this mv was being hinted. at, the teasers were all about big Hollywood musicals as an aesthetic, and especially Singin' In The Rain which that final scene pretty much emulated right down to Joon's hat. Aside: when they were in Paris in 2019 for the Speak Yourself tour, during the day 1 performance of BWL, suddenly Halsey appeared on stage and performed it with them. She was touring in London, and being a great friend of BTS and "in the neighborhood" agreed to surprise us with her appearance. Made for a really sweet extra memory.
This was lovely! Thank you for reacting. The set theme of Boy With Luv appears to be inspired a lot by the movie Singing in the Rain. (There are references throughout in the MV for this.) And the song itself is a throwback to their much younger selves in Boy In Luv, but with a new maturity and perspective of what love should be like -- being in love versus being *with* love. Sung for ARMYs it is definitely a very warm hug of a song for our fandom. May I also recommend the B-side of this song? It is them being themselves with bloopers, so it's really fun to watch. Have a wonderful day ahead!
This one was purposefully made to look like sets. The video was based on old movies, in fact it was mimicking Singing In the Rain. So that's why you had scenes that looked like it had painted backdrops like old movies. The diner scene to where the couch came in was supposed to look like a studio warehouse with them running from one set of a scene to the warehouse lot. All the marquees during RM's scene were their album titles.
You might have seen it on Billboard music awards, they performed with Halsey and did this set on stage Bit yeas dynamite looks like sister video to that one😆
BTS production team is amazing... if you want to see how hard working they are with their productions, you should watch all their DYNAMITE performances in 2020. All are produced in different locations and styles.
If you notice the blue side of the wall in the first scene, its the same as the lights music video. Obviously not the same site but lights is made in the movie theater that is the persona movie theater.
A lot of the scenes in the MV are shot for shot scenes from the old musical Singing in the Rain. Like direct cinematic parallels. There's a poster of the film in j-hope's part too and Singing in the Rain actually premiered the same day as Boy With Luv (just decades earlier of course). As a huge fan of the film, it was really cool to see BTS pay homage to it. And the theme of Singing in the Rain goes really well with the album theme of identifying your true self beyond the persona and loving it.
Idk if someone else said it but paino is yoongi's/siga's character thing but also is important for yoongi/suga irl too. Piano is in general really important for him ( his solo, first love, in wings was about a piano--you should listen andread to the whole song if you haven't yet. Short films dont have the entire thing)but yeah amd he's really good at it too
It's so interesting to watch your videos! Sometimes I feel like "Ah, I've seen this mv so many times, I already know it so well" and then I see your reactions and I notice SO MANY new things I haven't paid attention to. And whenever I watch your videos I immediately gets into a mode where I try to look at all the details in your perspective. Analyzing camera movements, lighting and just everything. And me not knowing much about it like you, I just love hearing your thoughts and I learn so much! Same when I watch reaction videos where there's a vocal coach listening; I listen to the song in a new deeper way. Or a dancer reacting, I analyze the dancing deeper. And with you in this perspective which is always so interesting!
Here's the link to the shooting sketch with English subtitles if you can't find it: ruclips.net/video/m278SCd_Z2o/видео.html The Persona Theatre set was actually set outside! :)
I cannot stress enough how i really love learning these new things here and there from your vids. It’s not anywhere near my alley but you and BTS make it so fun to learn about
The visuals in this MV are really cool. There is another version of it as well. When you said at the beginning that you had seen this before, it was probably from when you watched "The most beautiful Life Goes On" because it had clips from all their MVs.
Not sure if anybody else has mentioned this, but this video is very reminiscent of the Gene Kelly movie Singing in the Rain. The painted sets, RM on the stage with the hat, j-hope's twirling around the street light, are all take off of Singing in the Rain.
Thanks for the reaction! When this MV dropped, I remember everyones reaction to how pink everything was. This era was really pink! And this MV style was very new for them. It was alot of fun lol! Also since you like sad boy rap you should definitely check out RM’s Forever Rain MV. Im not sure how much you could review it from a filmmakers standpoint, because it’s animated. But it’s definitely worth checking out!
I love how you started to use clips as examples in your reactions. You can understand everything so much better🥰 By the way, the theatre was an actual building😂 They where outside in those shots.
You have NO IDEA how much I've waited for you to react to this song. It's my ALL time favourite. Thank you so much. I love your channel and your reactions.
So the signs in front of rm with all the lights each say something that correlates to their work. You never walk alone (their album and a song) Wings (their album and a song) Young Forever (Album and a song) The same with Love, 2cool 4skool, love yourself: answer, persona, etc.
Though BTS mv usually dont go hard with their editing as much as other kpop mvs do, its unarguable that they still have one of the best sets made for a kpop music video, just look at Blood Sweat and Tears, Fake Love, Dynamite, Boy With Luv, Daechwita, Butter, Fire and Dope.
you should watch more of the jimmy fallon performance videos! and the american's got talent performance they did of dynamite was shot really good as well
I'm guessing you'll loveee it's shooting sketch!!! sadly it doesn't have any substitles on it. BUT YEA BY SEEING THE MATERIALS AND SET WAS USED I RLLY KNOW YOU'LL LOVEEEE ITTTT
Comapared to DNA, BWL is really most and fastest to have great number of views since DNA was releases years before BWL. So basically the impact of BWL is greater than DNA.
There is second MV, they use a little different shots, takes, etc. I think befor you watch behind it would be cool to watch second ver. It is like b-roll stuff (it is called this like this??) I actually like second more.
If you're wondering why Halsey wasn't singing much in the song. The MV version is the one they perform on stages and Halsey sings more in their Spotify version.
Actually ALL of them can rap (even V did it for his audition). And all of them are genius in their own way. May be that's why they are so productive to create their own song, in so many different vibe.
Alex, I think you would really appreciate Pentagon, Oneus, and Seventeen’s videos. In particular, Seventeen’s Home, Hit, Fear, Ready to Love, Home;Run and Very Nice.
hey! can you react to bts spine breaker mv (making of course) it's a self made video where the members did everything themselves including the ideas, directing, filming, the wardrobe, the choreography so it's really interesting and fun to watch
When Dynamite drops the MV really looks like inspired by Boy with Luv. Specially the Disco and this Persona structure.
Yesssss thank you. I’m glad I’m not the only one

Recommending Chunga's Stay Tonight because the match cuts in the dance are divine. And it's literally the most beautiful mv periodt.

if i’m not wrong Dynamite and BWL had the same directing team/agency so that’s why there’s a lot of similarities in the styles
you've seen it in the MMA 2019 performance. they replicated the scene on stage
There is another version of this. With different scenes. It's called army in love version. You should check it out.

@@fsmilka8021 Bwl reached 1.3 later than Dna right? So how did it surpass that one?
