Envelope Animation || After Effects [Tutorial]

In this tutorial I teach you how to make this cool opening envelope animation from scratch! No pngs required!
It was requested that I make some more motion graphics tutorials, so here's one! I have a few more ideas for ones in the coming weeks, I hope you guys will like them! This one's a bit of a long video today, but I hope you find it useful! I tried to add as much explanation as possible so even beginners could follow along.

I was working on this and ive run into a problem. When i go to the speed graph mine isnt a parabola. Its a kinda curvy diagonal line. Not sure what to do

You need to change your graph from 'Value Graph' to 'Speed Graph'. In your graph editor you will see a lot of buttons along the bottom, the one to the right of the eye is the one where you can change your graph type. Click that and then click 'Speed Graph'

Hi, could you please help? On the pen tool part whenever I drag it down the other layer beneath it doesn't show. it just creates the triangle shape it doesn't actually change the solid layer. And when I hold shift it goes down in one straight line instead of just the middle part going down. What should I do?

I think that's because you have the entire mask selected, click somewhere else, then select the one point you want to move

At the bottom there should be a 'Toggle Switches / Modes' button! Press that and the matte options will appear!
