I get your point. I view them as two separate things I can love for different reasons. Like you, I love the rhythm and punch from the original. But then I love the stripped down version that lets the vocals and lyrics shine.
I listened to this track almost 20 times, but it never made me cry, until I watched this live version. Wow, this song is powerful! I want to see you live!
Ha, that's brave starting this way with vocals all in. I am totally impressed. Performing a song so great as they just did live is incredible. I cannot find words for these musicians. Awesome work. This is real and pure art. Thank you!
just rewatching this video for the xxxth time and maybe but only now that I was realizing just that :D. Was almost cringing about how calm, not to say unaffected the audience appears to be.
@@elozern9057 Painful audience. I once saw the Buena Vista Social Club live and the audience just sat there for that musical bonanza. Love the backup singer here- great song
I’ve listened to this exact recording ~100 times. Love it, solid performance. Way to bring it gents. Performing at some corporate event at the steps/stadium setup no less but making the music feel real and not some tired act. Agreed backup vocals really shined but whole band showed integrity. Love these guys. Love this song. Love this performance.
My take on that lyric (have no clue if this is accurate) - the combustible and tumultuous relationship was "the cannonball," crashing to the Earth as it ended. But the ending for her was not painful and was "light as a feather" since she already emotionally moved on to another lover - referencing back to the cheating and lying in the opening line.
Really cool version of a really cool song. They must have told everyone in the audience to be quiet because it would be hard sitting there not singing along at the top of your voice.
+James Collins He isn't black or PC enough...White people are taking over everything. The lead singer should be a Muslim Jew...Let's hope he repents his white skins
When I was listening for the first time to "Can't Help Me Now" by Rob Thomas, I had the feeling like I had heard the song before. It did not take me long to figure out WHY the song sounded so familiar. I had no idea that "Can't Help Me Now" by Rob Thomas was on his newest Album "Chipped Tooth Smile" which was released in August 2029. For all I new the song could have been from early 2000's. I realised The song I was thinking of was "First", by Cold War Kids. I was real quick to jump on Cold War Kids for ripping off Rob Thomas. Even though I heard the song "First" a few years ago) a
Come to find out Cold War Kids released "First" back in 2014. It was 5 years later that Rob Thomas released his Album "Chipped tooth Smile" in 2019. That means that Rob Thomas must had got his "INSPIRATION" for "Can't Help Me Now" from Cold War Kids song titled "first"🤫 Let me know what you when you give Rob's version of "first" a listen
The song is wistful and melodic, and I saw them all bumping their foot, not lifeless, definitely enjoying the tune. This was the perfect reaction for this crowd and the tone of the music being played.
Cheated and lied, broken so bad You made a vow, never get mad You play the game, though it's unfair They're all the same, who can compare? First you lose trust, then you get worried Night after night, bar after club Dropping like flies, who woke you up? On the front lawn, sprinklers turn on It's not your house, where'd you go wrong? I do not deserve to wait around forever when you were there first First you get hurt, then you feel sorry There comes a time, in a short life Turn it around, get a re-write Call it a dark night of the soul Ticking of clocks, gravity's pull First you get close, then you get worried Flying like a cannonball, falling to the earth Heavy as a feather when you hit the dirt How am I the lucky one? I do not deserve to wait around forever when you were there first First you get hurt, then you feel sorry You're going silent, the silent treatment It's not inviting now Don't deny what you meant You get excited, you get excited You got a feeling, or at least you can pretend You wanna light it, you wanna light it You wanna light it now, the candle from both ends You get excited, you get excited Flying like a cannonball, falling to the earth Heavy as a feather when you hit the dirt How am I the lucky one? What . . . there's no bass part in the semi-acoustic performance? I don't think he played a single note. A neat little bass line would've given it a much fuller sound. Backing vocals are fabulous.
+Cresencio Medina sometimes people just want to enjoy the song.. especially such a small crowd.. nothing worse than somebody singing the song for the artist and ruining the experience for everyone else...
second vocalist is superb
Seen them live many a time, they work well together for sure.
agreed.... so is the first.
That was my take away too
@@Killovision1 boom boom
I love that performances like this exist. So beautiful.
Sounds really nice. The 2nd vocals really add to the song. You can't really hear them on the album version.
@@Kevin-sm8pn Dawg, what? 😂
I can, had to see if it came from the same person. Now I know.
Lyrics drive me right to tears of elation and sorrow. Bravo!
Full body chills years later
I don’t know how I just heard this song a few weeks ago but this live version is incredible. Most modern artists do not sound good live.
i thought this live version was shyt but to each their own :) definitely prefer the studio version
The backup singer is Matthew Schwartz and he was the lead singer of “Chasing Kings”. They have several videos on RUclips. Sounds pretty good!
glad i'm not the only one blown away by this fact, saw Chasing Kings them around LA years ago, bought their album
I personally think that this song is missing the best part in this performance: THE DRUMS!
I like this song mainly for the drum play
I get your point. I view them as two separate things I can love for different reasons. Like you, I love the rhythm and punch from the original. But then I love the stripped down version that lets the vocals and lyrics shine.

Man I know everyone in this comment section is praising the support vocalist, but my God is he good or what?!
YES 👍🏼
"Sometimes less is more". Just look at what three simple chords did.
agreed, they wrote a masterpiece.
This audience is so docile, I cannot help but move when I hear this song.

I really like the keyboard player's voice.
great song. love it can't get it out of my head.
great camera work too, capturing the reactions of those watching & listening
like to come back here every once in a while this performance is so damn good man
Second vocals makes it a level up
wow! that was a powerful performance of an already awesome song, BIG like!
This is so great. My ears appreciate.
That’s the best performance I’ve ever seen of that song!!!! ❤😮
I smiled through this entire video.
One of the best live bands I've ever seen!
love this song! Acoustic version so intimate .
This is beautiful.
this is my favorite type of performance. you can hear the vocals and the acoustics aren't overwhelming
Perfect arrangement and execution.
Hey spectators wake up! Great performance.
So talented
Just heard this on Sirius.....great song....great words....great voices.
The lead singer is not AT ALL how I imagined he would look, WOW. (not saying that's a bad thing)
Agreed!
ElsiaStar thought the same thing
ElsiaStar voices can be so misleading lol. I pictured them both very differently!
Kinda looks like they took DNA from Matthew Perry and Chris O'Donnell and made another person.
Michael Downer that’s a good description! Haha
absolutely l❤ve this song!
This song is so genius. Well done. 👍🎶
Love this band & how good is the singing: serious talent!
Love It , What a Great Performance
this is the best version.
That's way better than the official video.
So much emotion.
The man playing the piano is my teachers son🤘🤘💦
Love this song❤️❤️❤️
Great song
Nice!
Great song well done.
This is their best vocal performance I've heard for this song yet, although not as good without all the instruments compared to album.
Well done men.
well done, men.
unless you're cooking men, then yes, I also enjoy well done men.
back up dude unreal!!
In love with this version man... amazing
Such a beautiful song.
Great set.

Second vocalist is ridiculously awesome!!
One of the rare bands that sounds better live than recorded.
Best version by far
Really cool version of a really cool song. They must have told everyone in the audience to be quiet because it would be hard sitting there not singing along at the top of your voice.
amazing video here
This is awesome, idk how people can hate it 🤦🏾♂️
I would be scared to play for that audience they have no reaction :0
Eclipse dude its a live recording with ppl 10 feet from the mics, they told them to be quiet. But ya it does look weird, prob betger without them
I always liked this song, and finally I found it.
Great song, great lead, great back up vocals!
So simple, so beautiful.
love this song!!
I’m going to subscribe to Pandora because of CWK and this video ✌🏼
Keyboard guy makes it better 😊
So freaking good
Great tune!!
2nd vocalist sounds exactly like Peter Gabriel.
Love when his buddy comes in with the bass! I've seen videos with the just the other guy and it's just not the same
Wow
Never thought an accoustic version of this would work. but it does
I Like this. This is nice
I am just in love with this song lol
Should do this with an orchestra backing them up, would be epic.
My older sister just passed at 29 yrs old due to cancer.
She got to Heaven First before 8 other siblings.
I'm very sorry for your loss
Stay strong brother. They're needed upstairs more than we are
Perfect

finger slipped
people who dislike this are not very good listeners

It’s Mal and Wash from Firefly!!
Lead singer reminds me of Stipe Miocic
Don't know why, but the vocalist playing the piano reminds me of Phil Collins...maybe it's just me...
Is it me or is that the same elevator hallway as the one from Pearson Spector in Suits? In this video it says Pandora

Because they don’t understand the lyrics. In fact no one does
