Hi, can you please continue to make these videos? They are really helpful for a beginner marbler who wants to keep doing this as more than a hobby. Thanks!
*May I ask what percent of carrageenan to water you use? Love these video’s. I’d love to see more of them from you. Can you do a video on how to make the tools you use for the patterning? Thanks. Tree*
Thanks for the videos! What kind of acrylic paint do you use? Also, do you have any tips about what to look for in paper? I recently tried paper marbling for the first time use a Jacquard kit and had so much fun, I'd really like to do it again with a better color selection. I tried mixing my own colors using a few different kinds of acrylic paint I had around the house but I couldn't get them to work so I want to go into my next trial with more knowledge.
Yeah, a lot of acrylic paint does not work well, they spread too much, push other colors out of the way and look really washed out. I use Utrecht Artist Acrylics (not the fluid ones), most of them work great (except for red, haven’t found a good red yet) But it takes a little trial and error sometimes. A good rule of thumb is to avoid any of those long, hard to read, synthetic pigments. And really any paper will work. If it’s really thick it’s hard to lay on the bath, though. I love texoprint paper for marbling! It’s very strong but thin and doesn’t stretch or curl much when wet so it is really easy to work with. But I use just regular copy paper if I’m experimenting. I choose the paper based on what I want to use the end product for.
my dear Rachel Hi. my name is konstantina smyrli and i live in greece. [konstantinart.gr] Watch your projects and they are great. are the tools you use your own or buy? I would like to know up close we have a lot to do
I really loved using Texoprint, it was perfect for marbling! But it looks like they've stopped making it. Now I'm using Munising 30-pound paper that I get from marbleart.us . It's a little thicker than Texoprint, but it works just as well for marbling. I use Hahnemuhle Ingres too, and even mohawk text-weight paper when it's all I've had on hand. Really, just about any paper will work. But Munising (and Texoprint) is the best because it doesn't expend and cockle like other papers and you don't have to worry about it tearing when it's wet. I hang my papers to dry and sometimes the corners will rip off of the other paper if I forget to be careful! I'm so used to Munising which I've never had tear even when completely wet. Ideal for marbling! Highly recommend it.
@@rachelcampbell6147 Thank you so much for your detailed reply I appreciate it. I’m Uk based and tried to order some paper from Tala but they wanted $130 postage!! So I will see what I can get here
Cathy Gish The equipment I’m using in this video are supplies at my school (North Bennet St. School). But I have my own setup at home too. I got my tank from www.colophonbookarts.com/marbling they have everything you need. But I’ve made most of my own combs. And I mix my own paints using Ultrecht acrylics and distilled water. My favorite paper for marbling is texoprint which you can get from marbleart.us (they’ve got lots of other marbling equipment also).

I don’t currently have a studio space, but if I do again I’ll make more videos! Best of luck on your marbling!
Your simple paper strips for cleaning the previous colors answered a lot of questions...Thanks!
Watched all of your videos so far this is my favourite, I love the end result but so enjoyed watching the technique...great skills 🤗
Beautiful. Like Suminagashi.

Hello Rachel, thank you for sharing your talent. Can you let me know how to make your tray and wash board.
I didn’t make mine. I think I got it from Talas, but if you search online you can find places that sell them.
@@rachelcampbell6147 Thanks Rachel.

I used about 2TBS of carrageenan per gallon of water. I don’t currently have a studio space, but I’ll film more videos again some day if I can.

Your size looks of the right viscosity, what is the amount of carrageenan to water?
I use 2 TBS of carrageenan per gallon of water.

Hi Rachael just wondering what is the best paper to use?

Is that just water in the tub? I love, love, love your video!
It's water mixed with carrageenan.
Do you sell your papers? Prices? Website? I am interested if you do.
I do sell paper at my Etsy shop! Check it out here, www.etsy.com/shop/CampbellMarbling
Can't use fabric?
Why do ypu keep dabbing with the paper?
Popping little bubbles or pushing any thing that might be floating on top under the surface so it doesn’t mess up the pattern.
Is this technique only for paper?
No, it would work on anything that could be treated with alum. I’ve done it on pencils, hats, cloth…
No escuchó nada
