With racial tensions being stoked by Donald Trump, more African-Americans are exercising their second amendment rights and exploring every option when it comes to legal firearms. I’m half Hispanic and half white. I feel that it’s best not to provoke others unnecessarily if you can help it but I do highly recommend being armed. My family recently got a shotgun and we feel much safer and better about the future.

I'm a Black man born and raised in California and I moved my residency to Utah. I recently bought my first gun a CZP-10 F. Then last week passing through Wyoming I bought an AR-15 style rifle. I truck drive cross country. It's a little risky for me but I'm glad I got it now. I'm eventually getting my ccw. I don't want a major racial confrontation to go down. Hell I had a baby by a White woman and I made friends with people of all races. I'm a regular guy. But sadly I know I'm a target because I'm Black. Driving across the country I gotta know the gun laws of every state.

even then on average in urban areas it takes 8 mins for police response and 15 mins in rural areas so you could be fucked by the time the police get there if its a serious threat

@@katashi222 well, on average, it takes 8 minutes for police to get to a situation, in the inner city. In rural, 15-20 minutes. So it's good to have at least one or two guns, one for the house, and concealed carry.
The police are performing the only duty they've ever been tasked with - to protect the capital of the wealthy while enforcing laws which target primarily minority groups.

Skills training and preparation are necessary if you plan on protecting youre family or yourself. The reason why so many get killed when carrying is because they lack both of these things. To many use having a gun as an intimidation tool instead of a life preserving tool. I am black and I can't tell you how many times I've gone to the range and observed many African Americans who just fire wild shots and try shooting fast with accuracy gone out the window. If you're going to own a firearm train with it as if you're life depends upon it because someday it might.

I disagree a person walking in their own neighborhood with a gun is much better off than a person without.. Stop the cap! Racial tension is not the reason why we increased gun ownership. Crime in our neighborhoods are out of control due to liberal policies. No bail, defunding the police, closing prisons like in California, having these hug a thug programs where the district attorneys won't prosecute criminals, etc. We support gun ownership to protect ourselves, friends, and family. It's not always about race. Some of our problems are self inflicted.

I have a couple things to say. As a black degree holding successful member of society. First, as the first guy said America was built on violence. I absolutely disagree with the capitalism part but the United States has built on violence and thievery. The American mindset is and always has been I want that, if I don't get it I'll take it. The people saying Chicago is this that blah blah. It's nowhere near as bad as it was on Plymouth rock, it's nowhere near as bad as it was when the night riders were pulling up on freedman, it's nowhere near as bad as any plantation In any state during the time. The only difference which is how it is with pretty much every other potentially criminal act, white people have been doing it for centuries, when black people have the same energy it is condemned heavily. If black people were to do the same thing to white people as what white people have done to every other civilization they've come in contact with, they would be met with the swiftest, hardest "justice" available. The i want it so I'm going to take it mentality is not new. And it will not go away in America. Black people have resorted to doing that to each other, by government design. The only thing that will stop black on black violence is an understanding of what the powers that be is doing to us. Don't let the white media hype you up and make you think this violence is unprecedented. It's very common. The mixture of America's blood with tumultuous socioeconomic conditions for young black men is the recipe for violence. But these people skewing the statistics are skewing them for a reason.
