THANKS! Being on old school kinda guy, I was kinda shocked not to find the air filter under the TwinPower Turbo. :) Love the video, concise and great camera angles. Captioning another plus. I watched it without audio here and had no problem understanding your entire process and "Be carefuls". ... thx again... Gotta give kudos to BMW for the way they design things. They sure make it easy now if I can ever find that damn dipstick hehe
Just a heads up, the diesel is different. The F31 2018 328d X-Drive has a different configuration. I know for sure since I just changed the AF. There are air hose connections on the right-hand side (facing the engine) that are not easily removable. Also, on the far left-hand side, (again facing the engine), when I removed the top the entire grommet came out of the hole. This was impossible for me to re-insert until it dawned on me to remove the grommet from the airbox, reinstall the grommet to the mount, then reattach the airbox. In fairness, the poster didn't list the diesel, but I thought I'd mention it so anyone that tries it isn't surprised. Also, when putting the top on, it went much easier pulling the bottom part up to mate with the top, vs trying to press the top onto the bottom.
Why is reinstalling rhe cover so bloody difficult? There was a huge gap or it was so misaligned. I got the boot and clips but the little rubber things are slightly not clipped all the way
Did you lift up on the bottom half of the airbox? That's the only way I could get mine properly aligned. Also, be sure to check that grommet on the left side. If it pulled out, it should be separated from the airbox, and reinstalled. Then the airbox clips right into it.
Hey the air filter of yours is it generated from France or Germany. Mine original one is made in France and the one I bought is from Germany is much more thicker on the orange layer. Does that pose any problem??
The cap of the oil filter is producing an anoying shaking sound, when I press it a little bit it stops, any suggestions? I first thought it was my radiator fan producing the rattling sound.
I just replace the air filter on my 328GT x drive And underneath the filter there was this black pad it felt kind of like felt that was attached to the older filter when I replaced it with the recommended stock air filter it didn’t have that black felt Pat does anyone know what that is or if it’s important
I also have a GT so I did some digging. Apparently that is the sport series filter. See this thread too: f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1633487
For sure the BMW OEM filter for the 328d x-Drive has that same pad. Looks like a built-in pre-filter. Also, if you look at the left-hand side of the airbox, the grommet on his pulled out as well, and I can't see where he ever fully seated it again. I was referring to the video here: ruclips.net/video/0YXR6g09heY/видео.html
I appreciate your help with this. It fell to the bottom of the hood. Not inside anything important, just can’t reach it. Would there be any problems regarding the filter box not closing correctly due to this?

Thanks for additional info!
Brilliance on a very informative filter change, many thanks just going to change mine !
Thank you!
Thanks very easy to replace and can now do it myself
Awesome!
Great video, thanks! Why didn’t you clean off the MAF as part of the replacement?
Thanks, that would be a good idea... didn't think about that at that time
NewRoad Adventures ah ok. I’m replacing the air filter this weekend and wondered if I should avoid touching the MAF based on the vid. Thanks again!
Can u do video on washer Jet for windscreen one off them blocked /low pressure
Thank you so much I feel great 1st thing I ever did to my bmw
It's easy to work on it. Check my BMW How-To videos for other maintenance: ruclips.net/p/PLLoEAO8f1zNxxzzyHXbW45J6jmZqEdhai
Great video 👍 in that the air intake pipe you have to loosen? I need to spray some egr cleaner in there.
Thanks so much for the video! Just changed my filter today 👍
Glad it helped!
You are a legend
Thank you for watching and leaving comments.
What cord is that with all the clips? My clips don’t even fit around it no more seems the insolation is melting
I should've done this myself. My mechanic forgot to put the air intake hose back in... and there I was wondering for a week why my car is choking.
That is one of the main reasons I am doing most of my maintenance myself!
Thanks, did it myself 👍🏼
Great 👍
Excellent video!
Thank you!
Why is reinstalling rhe cover so bloody difficult? There was a huge gap or it was so misaligned. I got the boot and clips but the little rubber things are slightly not clipped all the way
I just did mine and had the same issue. I’m thinking about buying a cold air intake so I don’t have to redo this impossible air filter again.

It doesn't really matter where it is made as long as long as it is the one for your model and year
OK thanks dr
Great video! Thank you!
Glad you liked it!

You're welcome!
Very good! I Would pay something aboult $100.
Thank you

Try to reinstall it and see if you miss any clips, etc.
What brand filter please
I bought from BMW dealer. Many people just buying Mann filter
The diesels are different, i have a 2015 330D, mines positioned on the upper right side of the engine

I removed the box and one of the pins fell inside and can’t get it back. How necessary are these?
You don't want anything inside of air intake if it felt in intake - because it can go to engine and cause problem
I appreciate your help with this. It fell to the bottom of the hood. Not inside anything important, just can’t reach it. Would there be any problems regarding the filter box not closing correctly due to this?
Very useful, and thanks. But it seems one could vacuum the box and output without removing the box. One less step.
😀👏👏👏
This Video is only for 4 Zylinder's not 6. Delete please 335i and it is correctly.
Done! Thanks
Can you smell the difference lol?
