I drive a 2012 mazda3 and the "loud interior" seems to be a common theme in all the Mazda's. Personally, I don't like it but so quiet in the cabin. 1 I like hearing my engine, 2 wind noise gives you a fair judge of how fast your going without looking at the speedo , 3 I like hearing whats going on around me, I.E. ambulance, police, fire, tires screaching, horns honking, etc., and 4 If any others noises present themselves relating to your vehicle it's good to know before the idiot light comes on.
+Everyman Driver Hi Dave, if it was your money. And i said to you Dave you only have 2 cars you can purchase 2016 Mazda 6 or 2016 Toyota Camry equipped the same. Which would you buy, you personally.
Dave, nice review as always but I was disappointed with the low mileage. And sure wish Mazda had better interior color options than the light color in your car (which will show the dirt so easy) and the black interior. Anyhow, will you do a review of the 2016 Accord soon??? Sure hope so!!! I am considering either the Mazda 6 or the Accord EX-L, though I do NOT like its CVT! And then I would be curious knowing which car you prefer! But for now, cheers to you and Melissa and happy driving!
Just bought this car used for work and this review could not be more accurate. One of a few non hybrid cars that get close to 40 on the highway. After driving old Jeeps for a long time it is super quiet to me.
Yes. I have a 2016 Mazda 6. I've gotten 2 large cart bags with drivers in (Sun Mountain C130) and 2 small, thinner stand bags. Had one of the stand bags on top, had to take the driver out of that one.
You did not mention too much about the Bose 11 speaker sound system. I love my new GT but The sound system is not consistent. Have taken it to dealer 3 times and they too can sometimes hear that it is not as loud as it should be. they downloaded an update but I dont hear much difference. my volume level at 50 is what it should sound like at 38 :( when it does go loud the driver door vibrates as well. Did you notice any of that? Also, did you notice any vibration and road noise with your left foot resting on the floor when driving?
Had the same issue with the driver door vibrating in my Mazda 6 GT at volume 48 or above. Very annoying and surprising for an otherwise pristine quality sound system. Resolved the issue by getting Dynamat installed in the door. Seems like it took a full year to set, but now, door no longer vibrates and my warm weather drives and sitting in the park listening to my smooth jazz, is so much more enjoyable!
are those really white seats? JMHO a really bad idea for a family sedan. Talk about spots and stains. Nissan had the same light interior in the 13-14 models and got so much grief they went to darker hues.
Just wanted to say, Keep it up with the excellent review. Wanted to know buying a car on October, any suggestions? Here is what I have been going back and forth which one is reliable in snow. GMC acadia AWD, Ford Explorer limited AWD or Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited AWD? The GMC and FORD is a 7-8 seater which we prefer but the jeep its only a 5 seater but well known for rough terrain. Any suggestions? thanks in advance.
Bright red I touring 2016 only one day but when it comes to noise my 2004 mountaineer is less noisey. I'm pretty sure it the sport 5000 19 in tires, because it really changes from road to road. Now there a subject for a test . Test drove a sport model with smaller tires and didn't notice excessive noise
+Sailor john My 2014 3s GT was the same way, it had 18" Dunlops and they were noisy as hell. I test drove a used 6 GT with a different brand of 19" tires than Dunlop and it wasn't quite as noisy.
A rod to keep the hood open? You have got to be kidding! Even Mazda's from the 70's and a one step system with an automatic hinge AND the hood opened backwards which allowed more light into the engine bay. Come on Mazda, get with the program and the era!!!
I'm looking to buy my first car sometime next year and your videos have been very helpful! Between the Mazda 6, Honda Civic, Kia Optima, and Scion iA, which would you recommend most? My limit will be around $25,000. Also, if I were to buy a used 2016 car next year or one that's still on the lot while they try to replace the cars with the 2017 models, will the price drop be pretty decent? Any info would be much appreciated !
Buying new cars is not the best option when you have a limited budget. All cars lose in value pretty quickly so if there isn't many changes between the years I would recommend looking for a year old (approved?) used car. Thats what I will be doing in a few months but probably going for a Mazda 6 from 2015 as there isn't many changes between 2015 and 2016.
I don't think that engine would be underpowered, here in Europe the 6 is available with a 2 liter naturally aspirated petrol engine which gets only 160 hp and has only 150 lb-ft of torque, and I drove it once, it does not feel underpowered at all.
In Norway we get the 6 with either a 2.0 petrol with 145 hp, 2.2 diesel with either 150 or 175 hp, and a 2.5 petrol with 192 hp. All engines comes with either manual or automatic transmission, except the 2.5.
Just did a 3 year lease with this exact interior and I have a 3 year old and 1 and a half year old. So we will see. lol, just do a interior and exterior scotch bright package. If they can't get the stain out. They replace the part free. haha
Thinking of getting the 2017 model of this that should be out next month, is it any good? How is the reliability of Mazda? It's going to be my first Mazda brand.
I really like the car but I feel the interior dash really needs a huge change and improvement. just look at Chevy, Chrysler, dodge, jeep and of course Ford's cars.
Here is, in my opinion, the problem with the Mazda6- It is a mid-size sedan that rides rough and has lots of road noise. Mazda can get away with that in the Mazda3 because younger people don't care as much about ride and road noise. But forty-somethings like me, who are in the market for mid-size, don't care for it. Mazda would do good to come up with something like Buick's Magna-Ride suspension for the Mazda6.

Everyman Driver consider a/c use too...I average 30.5 mixed at 4500m so far. Plus I'm heavy footed, lol. What I love most about this car is how it handles curves. Nimble!!! Best word to describe it.
Im a 17 year old guy looking to get my first car, my parents are strict when it comes to me getting a sports car (BMW, Mercedes, etc.) so I can pretty much only work with fuel efficient cars that come in Sport models, such as the accord sport camry se , or even Mazda 6, I want something sporty but not too stiff as my first car, do you have any suggestions as to which car I should choose?
+narechoke513 Look at the Mazda 3 as well. The "s" models have the same 2.5L as this 6. I had a 2014 3s Grand Touring until it got wrecked a few weeks ago (not my fault) and it was an absolutely amazing car to drive. I'm hoping to head to the dealership today and replace it with a 2016 6 Touring in the same color as Dave's test car.
narechoke513 I used to have a Mazda 3 I Touring 2015 and I loved it . It had all the package what Grand touring has . The car was little bit use , the price was around 19 thousand plus the taxes and u have to GAP insurance so that was extra 4,000 , the Total of the car was almost 26 thousand .
Not durable and not dependable at all all I have one and it have alot of issues in skyactive stupid engine Gear box can't even handle 3 people sitting in the car and its struggling to go up hill with 3 people inside Not recommended at all in any country for any age
احمد سويط You may have a lemon since the Mazda 6 gets VERY high reviews overall from just about everything I have read about it, including Consumer Reports. Is your car one of these new 2016 cars or an older one??? And are you in the USA???
+Ax the small engine is what the Skyactiv means. That is Mazda's philosophy. They make lightweight and lower powered cars, while focusing on handling and fuel economy. I drive a 2006 Mazda 6 with a 2.3 4 cylinder and it is extremely fun to drive. It isn't the fastest, but it handles corners very well and gets 30+ MPG, and on a 2006 that is awesome!
The main problems with the 2016 Mazda 6: - Poor fuel economy of only 26MPG according to Everyman Driver and TFL Car. This is unacceptable for this segment. Below average. - Underpowered engine with no turbo option. Really Mazda? - No AWD powertrain option. - Cheap plastic materials in the interior. - Gimmicky and (sometimes) annoying tech features such as the HUD and lane assist. - Lack of rear headroom for taller people.
Motorenwerke.de Mazdas also have rust problems which they still haven't addressed yet. So many reports of low quality paint finishes and easy rusting on the auto forums.
Great looking car. I read online that Mazda will be bringing a new turbo engine in the new Mazdaspeed. So possibly that engine could be used in the future models of the 6.
+FawkesMuldarr Not really, I had a 3 with this same engine and am going to buy a 6. In the 3, a lot of the reason the engine felt weak was the transmission (think it's the same one with the same shift patterns in the 6), which in normal mode is hyper about upshifting for economy. Throw it into Sport mode and the transmission is a lot more aggressive about keeping the engine revs up in the powerband and the performance gets a lot better. It's still not a V6 or the 2.0L turbo in a high-end Fusion, but it's not exactly slow. That having been said, if they did a Mazdaspeed version of this 6 with 250+ hp and AWD...ermahgerd. It would be AMAZING. The handling and dynamics of the 3 and the 6 are fantastic. Give them enough power and AWD to complement the handling and styling and you'd have a world-class sports sedan.
Im getting 33.5 mpg with my manual 6 speed , only 2 little gripes are the tire noise , n sticky brake pedal other then that its not bad or expensive n fun with a manual which is a dyeing breed .

I got a Mazda 6 last month. I love this car!
+Bikejonze GOOD FOR YOU. I ALWAYS WANNA GET ONE FOR MYSELF. LOVE THIS CAR TOO
+Bikejonze is it noisy ?
I drove one a few days on vacation and really like the handling/suspension - like it was on rails.
I really like your reviews, sir. You get to the point. Many thanks.
+Arcady Thank YOU, sir - Dave, Everyman Driver
+Everyman Driver Hi Dave, if it was your money. And i said to you Dave you only have 2 cars you can purchase 2016 Mazda 6 or 2016 Toyota Camry equipped the same. Which would you buy, you personally.
***** Oil Spray it every year so it lasts.
I have to say I'm not really a fan of the info screen being a "pop-up" look. I prefer it built into the center.
Mazda's are pretty notorious for road noise. Overall very good cars imo and definitely something to check out.
Great review ...the Mazda6 holds up well against top performers like the Honda Accord and the Ford Fusion
Would you recommend this one or a honda accord sport?? and good job with the reviews, really enjoy your videos!
I love that interior color!
Yeh GJ man. Your reviews are very fluid and to the point. You sir hve got yourself a sub. lol keep em coming.
Dave, nice review as always but I was disappointed with the low mileage. My personal tip for trunk space reviews...will a golf bag fit with Driver in it? That is the most important factor!
Probably. I can fit a golf bag with a driver in a small civic trunk
Yes.
I have a 2016 Mazda 6. I've gotten 2 large cart bags with drivers in (Sun Mountain C130) and 2 small, thinner stand bags. Had one of the stand bags on top, had to take the driver out of that one.

There's a black option :)
the black seats are more feasible in the long run. White looks great for a year or two. I'd go with black all the time
They have a black seats/brown dash option
C'mon Mazda give it a v6 or a turbo 4
Mileage will get better as the engine breaks in.
As always I love your car reviews. Do you know if Mazda will come out with a more powerful Mazda 6 and maybe all wheel drive?
Dave you're the best!
+Nick Banaszak I appreciate it, thank you!
Hey Dave would you choose Honda Accord or Mazda6 ? and why?? Thanks!!
awd would add weight and suck the power some more plus make the fuel economy even worse
The middle seat is a bit harder, but when you sit on the right it is just as comfortable as on the left side? Wowwww :-)
Just wanted to say, Keep it up with the excellent review. Wanted to know buying a car on October, any suggestions? Here is what I have been going back and forth which one is reliable in snow. Great review overall and nice timepiece at 2:34. Mind sharing the brand?
Looks like it says Timex? Nice watch!
It has that Aston Martin silhouette. Nice.
any idea when the 2017 Mazda 6 is releasing?
hi! nice video ! what kind of colour is that? graphitgrau or obsidiangrau?
A rod to keep the hood open? You have got to be kidding! Even Mazda's from the 70's and a one step system with an automatic hinge AND the hood opened backwards which allowed more light into the engine bay. Come on Mazda, get with the program and the era!!!
Are you going to do the 2016 Honda Pilot Touring Elite? If so when?
I'm looking to buy my first car sometime next year and your videos have been very helpful! Between the Mazda 6, Honda Civic, Kia Optima, and Scion iA, which would you recommend most? Looks like a Muscle car.
How many horses power is to not tell "I would like to have more" next round ?
how often due the retractable tops break down? And would it be as warm inside the cabin when the top is down compared to any non convertible car?
He must have had it in sport mode with the a.c. on all the time to get that fuel economy.
white seats are awesome.but how would they look like after 5years using by kids?:)
Jiří Dvořák Off white.
Just did a 3 year lease with this exact interior and I have a 3 year old and 1 and a half year old. So we will see. lol, just do a interior and exterior scotch bright package. If they can't get the stain out. They replace the part free. haha

@Macky Mac any mazda that is not made with ford (before 2013) is really reliable, up there with toyota and honda
You could be a little more gentle with opening closing doors and hood :)
I really like the car but I feel the interior dash really needs a huge change and improvement. just look at Chevy, Chrysler, dodge, jeep and of course Ford's cars.
@Frostystudio what do you mean? They have one of the nicest interiors in its class, all those others are cheap plastics, and will break down easily
No clearance on frt end , anyone else tired of crabbing across the curb trying to getting to the garage

Of you want a "quiet car" with a soft ride, get a camry or sonata.
Maz6...MEH, but I like your watch. What is it? I wear Tissot, but nice watch.
This is a rather formally dressed Dave...Appreciate if you appear the same in all videos :) In formal dressing (no suit & tie though)

Looking at a Ford Fusion Sport. V6 turbo, AWD with 300+ hp.
Deacon blue .
im just here to find out more about that watch
I love the Mazda 6
Was the sport mode engaged most of the time? Wondering if that affected the mileage.
Wells306 Nope... I drove in normal mode 98% of the time.
Everyman Driver Maybe the engine will do better after the break in period. I know it was that way with my Accord
Everyman Driver consider a/c use too...I average 30.5 mixed at 4500m so far. Plus I'm heavy footed, lol. What I love most about this car is how it handles curves. Nimble!!! Best word to describe it.

Best overall car in the segment. I'd take it over the big 3 Altima, Accord or Camry.

Jerry G. HAHAHHAHAHAHA
Mazda 6 or Nissan Maxima?
Nissan Maxima.
Nick Klein Mazda6
Add a V6 option and it is on my top 3 list for this segment. Add V6 and AWD option and this is the top. Too underpowered

RealMadridSuperiority Mazda is worst Asian brand
RealMadridSuperiority Yeah, Mazda is one of the least reliable Asian automakers and they're even worse than GM. That's really disappointing.
Motorenwerke.de
Interesting mixed results on the economy results between various different reviewers. Wonder if there is anything going on there.
Motorenwerke.de - "Cheap plastic materials in the interior. "
BMW 3-series barely looks better and costs twice as much.
...Sport Mode...But NO V6...;-(
Somebody needs to take their button up off! Grr he's good looking
Thanks ;)
+Hugo Cervantes +1 , come on shirt less reviews!
Yesssssssssss
The interior reminds me of BMWs
I know.. It has Euro car features lol
love the car.. only if I can afford it. 😃
💕I only watch his vids to see him💘

Kia Optima/ Hyundai Sonata look better plus better mileage. My opinion.
Great looking car. I read online that Mazda will be bringing a new turbo engine in the new Mazdaspeed. So possibly that engine could be used in the future models of the 6.
great car poor engine bmw the best
Well yeah BMW are better than Mazda but you can't compare BMW to a Mazda lol it's two different worlds. Lol
i say that course I have one and trust me bmw is amazing the way this car performance is absolutely amazing .
Bmw is too expensive and unreliable. Mazda is much better value and has amazing reliability. Bmws dont last long
Nice car with the exception of the ugly display
nice bird, so hot
underpowered junk, what a joke of an "engine"
+FawkesMuldarr GOod for people like who have to drive 78 miles everyday :)
+FawkesMuldarr Not really, I had a 3 with this same engine and am going to buy a 6. This is a car begging for a better engine. At least a 4 cylinder turbo or a V6.
Im getting 33.5 mpg with my manual 6 speed , only 2 little gripes are the tire noise , n sticky brake pedal other then that its not bad or expensive n fun with a manual which is a dyeing breed .
got yourself a new sub.
Would you recommend the Mazda 6 or the Nissan Maxima?
I have the same question :( can't decide between the two. what are you leaning towards?
Maxima has the 300HP 3.7 V6 so it has the edge.
Go for the Mazda 6 2.2 Litre diesel engine if that's even available in your country ?
Mazda 6 for sure.
Would you recommend the Mazda 6 or the Nissan Maxima?
