My fiancé bought me this exact car in black as as a gift. I love my car so much. It’s beautiful, drives smooth and fast, people always compliment me on it and stare at me on the road driving. The interior is gorgeous and roomy. Mazda has come along way. I love my Mazda 6 like my baby.
Mazda makes the best sedans for a daily. I have a 3 skyavtiv (2012) with the 6-speed manual and I legitimately think that it is one of the best dailies you can buy given its price in both the used and new market
Purchased the Mazda6 about 4 Months ago, absolutely LOVE it! Such quality feel and appearance for the price. Interior is better looking than the BMW's I've seen. Your reviews seems pretty right on. I am quite surprised just how well the 2.5l does for a Sedan of this size. The Bose sound system is very good. Very sporty feel for a 4dr. We are now a Mazda Family.
I really like this Mazda 6 but I ended up getting a I4 Camry XSE for my daily driver. With discounts of $6,000 off MSRP + 0 for 60, it was hard for me to choose another midsize sedan. But if prices were reasonably close, I would have gone with the Mazda 6 hands down. The design is a work of art and I think the interior space is nicer than any other midsize sedan.
+RUclips Aneesh I ended up with an XSE I4 for the exact same reason! 0% for 60 months for a car that controls well enough and has lots of bells and whistles. Mazda was slightly more expensive for me and with only 2 dealerships nearby there wasn't much space for making them compete with each other.
Another great review Jason! I really like these new Mazda6s. Great to hear that it drives well too. Seems like a great alternative to the more common midsize sedans.
Mazda has really been on a roll with the new generation 3 and 6, and now that they have the new MX5 and announced the new RX, they have a bit of everything.
Do you have any expenses that come up that are major with them? My boyfriend wont let me get one because he said when something breaks it's going to be to expensive.
I just bought my first car (2008 Mazda 3 hatchback) and i like it alot! Now seeing this mazda 6 ill definately have this as my second car in a few years!
This car is really fantastic. The only things holding it back are no turbocharged engine option and small dealership network. It's such a shame that there are not more Mazda dealerships out there to sell great cars like this, the Mazda3, the Mazda CX-5, the MX-5 Miata, and the Mazda CX-9.
I love the fact that you can get a midsize sedan with a stick. There are very few manufactures that still do that. Respect, Mazda. For a 4-cylinder they are not slow either. If I needed a 4 door sedan that would definitely be my choice. Great review!
My wife and I went to a local Mazda dealer to look at the new CX-3 as a possible trade-in of her 2010 Mazda3. Being that the CX-3 is based on the mazda2 platform, it felt pretty small inside(although, very nice). Given the current Lease options I couldn't help but think the 6 was a better deal. Plus, they had a lot more 6's on the lot, so I'm sure a great deal can be had. They are truly impressive to both look at and sit in. Your review gives a good idea of the actual drive, might be worth a test on our part.-JB
I really appreciate when you mention rear-seat head room like you did in this video. Many sedans, even larger ones, have lots of rear leg room but the sloped roofline means no headroom unless rear seat passenger slouches/slides forward in the seat. But unless the rear seats recline, slouching is not a valid option for longer journeys. I am 5'11" and can't fit in most large sedan back seats without hitting my head on the ceiling. Salesmen say "you'll never sit in the backseat anyway", but obviously people have a reasonable expectation that adults will fit in the back of large sedans or else they would buy 2-door cars, or something smaller. Since you're 6'1", I'd like to hear your impressions on that subject in more cars like in this video.
I tried this one back to back against the TLX. I really wanted to like this car, BUT unfortunately, to get that great gas mileage they sacrificed too much in the way of power which is totally lacking. Also the Acura is much quieter, and throwing in a $6K rebate, would make it hard to justify the purchase of the 6. I do love what they did w the interior, but would recommend waiting for a turbo which I believe will come next year.
I drove this car for 2 days (300 or so miles) in California as a rental. It looks beautiful, drives really smoothly, super roomy for the drivers but less roomy in the back compared to a camry. The thing i disliked the most was the power, i'd have to drive in sports mode all the time just to get a little kick out of it. I was just really disappointed with the accelerating and that was my deciding factor not to get it
Mazda has really stepped up their game lately; practically every car they make is best in its class. The only thing the 6 needs to be unbeatable is a V6, or at least a turbo 4. This car is too big a 187bhp naturally aspirated I4.
You should review a Honda Accord with the 2.4L engine and 6 speed transmission. I drive one and I get that fuel mileage no problem. That being said, nice review as usual.
Omg I love the new Honda accords! Super comfortable seats compared to the Mazda and love everything about it, but Mazda holds a special place in my heart because my first car was an old 626 which I still keep as my winter beater, so I went with the 21k Mazda 6 sport!
Been waiting for another Mazda review. Great work. Hoping you might get a chance to test the new Mazda Speed 3 when it gets released. I think Mazda are making some great looking cars at the moment, thankfully Ford doesn't have a big share in them anymore.
Trunk is pretty small to fit "12 inch duel subs, My dad had to sort of take apart the trunk to be able to fit his subs into his 2016. Just a heads up for stereo system people.
I'm in the market for one of theses and this review helped. seems to be "bang for buck" value in it's class with looks to go with it! way better looking than the camry and liberty/legacy. thanks :)
+lexusfan100 Yeah, this is actually really important to me. I'm colorblind, and some dash setups are pretty impossible to read at night. But that would probably be hard to record accurately, to be fair.
Hey, i have enjoyed your videos because you explain the engineering in great depth. I wanna make a request since you talked about the transmission on this car and you mentioned that the auto and manual versions of the Accord V6 has different performance output, could you do a video on Auto Transmission? I feel that auto transmission is gaining popularity, eg. PDKs DSGs, and many other different names that confuses consumers. I think it would be highly beneficial for the community to understand the auto transmission on their car, especially if they are going to do some tuning and modifications. What would the implication on durability and performance etc. Cheers.
Great video once you got going with the test drive but you almost lost me with all that technical stuff at the beginning! I love the Mazda6 - a great competitor for the Accord, Fusion and Camry
It's really protected for 87 octane with a tinge of shitty ethanol in it. So 91 octane with some slight air/fuel tuning and especially timing adjustments its should be quite nice.
Hey Man, great video! Thanks for sharing. Quick question for you. I like both the Mazda 3 and the Mazda 6; in fact I had the 2014 Mazda 3 with manual transmission and I loved it. In terms of the "fun to drive" factor which car is better the Mazda 6 manual or the Mazda 3 manual? and also as an overall impression which one do you like better?
I’ve had a 4.6 Mustang GT. I loved that car to death. However, I got a lemon. I’ve spent over 15 grand on maintenance costs alone. Anyway, by the time the third transmission went out, it was time for a new car. I realize this is considerably slower than the Mustang, but how is the reliability? I heard skyactiv tech is 100% Japanese, thank god they separated from Ford.
could you do a video on Acura's SH-AWD and explain the difference between it and the Sport Hybrid SH-AWD system like the one in the rlx possibly the NSX Thank you. love the videos keep up the good work.
+ Engineering Explained, would you buy the Mazda 6 or Honda Accord Sport?? I've thought of the Accord like a neutered Civic Si with lower limits and a CVT for city/traffic commute. If not, then what midsize four cylinder would you go for outside of a WRX for that price range??
Looks like you also reviewed a Honda Accord with a V6 recently. Would you pick the Accord over the Mazda6 because of the V6? Or do you think the 2.5 SkyActiv engine is sufficient for the Mazda6?
5L of Diesel per 100 Km. That's the average. Then there's The Opel Astra H with the 1.3 Litre Turbo Diesel, manual 6 gear. Around the same average. It's about how you drive, mostly.
Question? my 2016 Itouring model seems noisy and doesn't have some of the Grand touring features- grille- ,lights -etc. Does it have the same noise reduction that Mazda boast on the 2016 models?
as far as im concerned you lost credibility when you said this Mazda is very quiet. that 75 decibels is about as loud as a normal converation if not louder. i've tested the top trim wagon version with the diesel Engine and i wouldn't call it quiet.the current Mazda 3 is about as quiet/loud as the 6, and for a car this size it should imo be quieter than a hatchback.
Tony DeFazio look, before this new car i had the 2003 legacy 2.5 4 cylinder .. now i have the 2016 legacy 3.6 6 cylinder and the fuel efficiency on the new 6 cyl legacy is btr than the old 4 cyl legacy! Notice that im from saudi arabia and its hot "37-50 Celsius" if u took the 3.6 2016 u should be fine
+j Collins Absolutely, unless you're going with the 200c V6 for power. 4 cyl to 4 cyl, the Mazda is significantly lighter, same power, better visibility, more ground clearance, better gas mileage.
+ec htpc I have the Mazda 6 GT which comes with Bose speakers (11 speakers with sub-woofer in the doors). I am no audiophile, but the system sounds good. I like to pump up the bass and it handles it pretty well without distortion. One complain if I had to raise about it is that most of the 11 speakers (I think around 6) are located in the front (including the subs) which make it very front heavy in terms of sound. As a driver it actually makes it better but people sitting in the back might not get the full experience. I haven't heard the non-bose version so can't comment on that, but the normal Bose package with moonroof is a no brainer IMO
I'm a little bit confused on one bit. How does Mazda achieve a compression ratio of 13:1 with a NA engine whereas a 328i has a compression ratio of 10:1 listed but is turbocharged? Also with a significantly lower compression ratio and smaller engine the BMW makes much more power? How does this all work?
My fiancé bought me this exact car in black as as a gift. I love my car so much. It’s beautiful, drives smooth and fast, people always compliment me on it and stare at me on the road driving. The interior is gorgeous and roomy. Mazda has come along way. I love my Mazda 6 like my baby.
I really like Mazda's design, they make beautiful cars.
Giorgi Gogashvili yes

Great review. Mazda has seriously stepped up their game in the recent years since Ford no longer has a stake in them.
+Jason L Ford stepped up their game too. I like the looks of mazdas though.
+Jason L I think Mazda's were always good its just that now they look good too.
Ford owns 33% in Mazda, and do still shares technology with Ford..
Ford still owns 13% of Mazda to my knowledge, that's no longer a controlling share but to say they are no longer linked is just plain false.

Another great review Jason! I really like these new Mazda6s. Great to hear that it drives well too. Seems like a great alternative to the more common midsize sedans.

Mazda's are amazing. I love my speed3
Love my CX 5 too
+Greg Burgess supprised he hasnt done a speed3 vs wrx yet.
But love is what makes a Subaru...
Lovely shot with the train in the background
Mazda's rule!!!!! Zoom zoom! everyone in my family has a Mazda, amd loves them!! I have 3 Mazda's 09 Rx8, 07 Mazda 6 and 09 mazda 5, love them all!!!
Do you have any expenses that come up that are major with them? My boyfriend wont let me get one because he said when something breaks it's going to be to expensive.
Just got my 2015 Mazda 6 grand touring and I completely love it
I just bought my first car (2008 Mazda 3 hatchback) and i like it alot! Now seeing this mazda 6 ill definately have this as my second car in a few years!
I have a 2007 Mazda 3 and I also now want the Mazda 6 😂😂
Bought one for my mom last month. This car is almost perfect and so easy to drive. Absolutely love it!
the road noise is actually quite noticable at highway speeds. besides that, awesome car.
Mazda Skyactiv technology is really interesting, different and forward thinking. More detail about that would make a great video.
+Enrique Osorio Here's a big part of it: ruclips.net/video/z45fM2N-4C4/видео.html

Such a beautiful car. It's a family sedan, but damn it if this beauty doesn't catch my eye every time I see it on the road
im about to get this and im so happy u did a review
I personally love my 2015 MY Mazda6, I enjoy every moment driving it, with and without family... basically it's my family battlewagon.
Mazda has really stepped up their game lately; practically every car they make is best in its class. The only thing the 6 needs to be unbeatable is a V6, or at least a turbo 4. This car is too big a 187bhp naturally aspirated I4.
If only I had money...
I currently drive a Mazda 2, great car. Realy like the Mazda Kodo design. Great video.
I loooooove the looks of this car. But $33k? No thanks. YOUR reviews? Yes please.
Great info as always,
Keep em coming!
Just bought one used, based Mazda is GOAT

Can you try and get your hands on a manual Mazda6 to test? It and the Honda Accord EX in a manual are the two vehicles I'm most interested in.
I just bought a 2019 model
For a luxury sedan, that grunting engine noise is pretty satisfying for me.
i wish so much they made this in an AWD or RWD variant. Such a nice looking car...
Can you do a video on Mazda's Skyactiv engine features? I know you've already featured an atkinson cycle demo. Thanks.
I wish Mazda sold the 6 wagon here. It's practical and good looking. Plus, there aren't many mid sized wagons to compete against in that price range.
Trunk is pretty small to fit "12 inch duel subs, My dad had to sort of take apart the trunk to be able to fit his subs into his 2016. Just a heads up for stereo system people.
We need them to make a Speed6.
+Tyler Brown I think they are in 2017 along with an awd speed3
Greg Burgess That'd be awesome. I guess they'd he competing with Subarus and the Focus RS
Greg wrong
I'm in the market for one of theses and this review helped. seems to be "bang for buck" value in it's class with looks to go with it! way better looking than the camry and liberty/legacy. thanks :)
i think you also should do night time videos on interior dash/headlights etc. . That would be an additional thing to your daily awsome collection too.
+lexusfan100 Yeah, this is actually really important to me. I'm colorblind, and some dash setups are pretty impossible to read at night. But that would probably be hard to record accurately, to be fair.

Please do make a review for Honda Civic 2016 thanks. Great reviews concise but complete. Keep it up.
No infotainment review? It's supposed to be one of the best in the biz. I sure like this car. Hope we see a turbo model soon!
Great video once you got going with the test drive but you almost lost me with all that technical stuff at the beginning! I love the Mazda6 - a great competitor for the Accord, Fusion and Camry
I like it. Except find the seat could be flatter at the shoulder blades. They kinda hunch your shoulders forward when I sat in.
Superb review. My new favorite channel.
I wish they had a dealership in my area... I think that's what's holding Mazda back their dealership network is lacking
You're the best, thanks so much for all your videos
It's really protected for 87 octane with a tinge of shitty ethanol in it. So 91 octane with some slight air/fuel tuning and especially timing adjustments its should be quite nice.
WoW! I didn't know that Mazda was so innovative with all those impressive specs. They should throw in a turbo...

From those 3? ford fusion titanium , mazda 6 , chrysler 200S ? Witch is your favorite? Driving..handaling, quality, sound..
I lower the pitch settings on my speakers so you don't sounds so annoying. nice review though...
My next car
Love how they look but the way it drove was very underwhelming. I'd like to see a turbo model. The Accord Sport with the manual drove a lot better.
ill take an accord
+ Engineering Explained, would you buy the Mazda 6 or Honda Accord Sport?? I've thought of the Accord like a neutered Civic Si with lower limits and a CVT for city/traffic commute. If not, then what midsize four cylinder would you go for outside of a WRX for that price range??
great video as always. Question: looked through your collection and can there really be no Forester review? NA or XT?? Please rectify asap!
Rarely I get to say that it's in the works, but it will be happening. Not until 2016 though.
+Engineering Explained Awesome! I'll wait to the end of time for your review :) Although, please consider including the NA model!
I found a manual 6 speed I'm thinking bout purchasing.
would you prefer the Mazda 6 or the ford Fusion?
Looks like you also reviewed a Honda Accord with a V6 recently. Would you pick the Accord over the Mazda6 because of the V6? Or do you think the 2.5 SkyActiv engine is sufficient for the Mazda6?
Great review
Were you able to achieve that mileage (40mpg) in Sport Mode? Did you mainly drive in Sport Mode?
My mother's Mercedes C-Classe Wagon from 2002 Can and does pretty much all the time around 55 MPG.
Dog Assassin absolutely not. You’re a fuckwad.
5L of Diesel per 100 Km. That's the average. Then there's The Opel Astra H with the 1.3 Litre Turbo Diesel, manual 6 gear. Around the same average. It's about how you drive, mostly.

OMG I want one, sport manual in red with sand cloth.
I really hope mazda put the 2.5L turbo engine in mazda 6 too. Do you think they will do that in the future?
You should explain McLarens "inertia push"!
as far as im concerned you lost credibility when you said this Mazda is very quiet. that 75 decibels is about as loud as a normal converation if not louder. i've tested the top trim wagon version with the diesel Engine and i wouldn't call it quiet.the current Mazda 3 is about as quiet/loud as the 6, and for a car this size it should imo be quieter than a hatchback.
Good review. Thx
im about to buy this one... but i think that i should buy the subaru legacy 2016
I am considering the same. You give up luxury and comfort for AWD
Tony DeFazio i bought the 2016 3.6r legacy fully loaded and its good :)
Hey there. Appreciate the quick response. Did you hesitate on the gas guling 3.6?
Tony DeFazio look, before this new car i had the 2003 legacy 2.5 4 cylinder .. now i have the 2016 legacy 3.6 6 cylinder and the fuel efficiency on the new 6 cyl legacy is btr than the old 4 cyl legacy! Notice that im from saudi arabia and its hot "37-50 Celsius" if u took the 3.6 2016 u should be fine
love my cx-5, the 6 is a v nice vehicle.
I drove manual version of these. This car can handle better than mustang
Would you advise this car over the Chrysler 200c? All things considered.
+j Collins Absolutely, unless you're going with the 200c V6 for power. 4 cyl to 4 cyl, the Mazda is significantly lighter, same power, better visibility, more ground clearance, better gas mileage.
+Engineering Explained thank you very much. I love your videos as a petrol head myself.
+Engineering Explained what is so good about ground clearance?
+Mr. Apolui (Erik) it lets you go over stuff. Very useful depending on where you live, and yet somehow it's remained very aerodynamic.
Could you try to get the Accord V6 and the new Kia Optima both with the regular automatic transmission. Thanks
Perfect review.
How do feel about the Mazda 6 comparing to the Accord and Sonata you have tested ?
Will you review the 2018 Mazda 3 or any Mazda 3 in the future?
Doesn't high compression equal premature failure?
I thought that area looked familiar. That's the Columbia river gorge.
Nice Car!
Can we get a review of a Mazda 3
how is the sound system?
Decent, though I don't remember it being exceptionally good. On par for the price range.
I haven't heard the non-bose version so can't comment on that, but the normal Bose package with moonroof is a no brainer IMO
Engineering Explained can you tell me what road or town this video was shot near?
Nice job!
21K base model with a 6 speed manual yes please lol
could you possibly review & test the mazda 3?
I'm a little bit confused on one bit. How does Mazda achieve a compression ratio of 13:1 with a NA engine whereas a 328i has a compression ratio of 10:1 listed but is turbocharged? Also with a significantly lower compression ratio and smaller engine the BMW makes much more power? How does this all work?
+YZRandomE They use the Atkinson cycle, explained here: ruclips.net/video/z45fM2N-4C4/видео.html
what is diferent mazda 6 i grand touring and grand touring ?
