The skate hi really cushions the impact of the edge of your board banging against your ankle...That's fo sho. I've worn Vans ever since I was a young teenager in the early 2000's when skateboarding really got huge again there for awhile. Matter of fact, I'm 34 and I have a pair of skate hi's on as I type this comment lol, black with the white trim.

I don't skate but I have to agree its a great shoe just to wear and it feels so secure and nice, like a good leather boot but with the flexibility of canvas. Really solid, I now have the Sk8 low and Sk8 Hi.
My favorite Vans are the classic slip on shoes. I have a pair that are black and white. I use them as work shoes for the past two years because they are so comfortable. Unfortunately it will be time to trash them as the fabric is ripping with holes Along with the white rubber around the shoes and the rubber soles on the bottom of both shoes is broken with holes. But they are so comfortable that I refuse to trash them and get new shoes. I do have a pair of grey Nike tennis shoes but they look fun with my black work jeans. I also have a pair of black and white old school Vans I bought when I thought I wanted to get into skateboarding. Which I still do but haven’t practiced much with my long board. They hurt my feet when I take them off and they hurt my feet if I don’t wear the right kind of socks with them. I Don’t Know if that means I haven’t broken in the shoes yet by not wearing them enough but I Don’t Know if I want to use them as work shoes. I wore them once to work and almost split a small to go container of breadstick sauce all over my shoes. But luckily I moved my foot at just the right time and missed hitting my shoes. Lol. Walmart has a pair of knock shoes that look identical to the black and white classic slip on Vans they are $10 in the kids section or $15 in the adults. So I might get a pair of those I haven’t decided yet.

Personally I wasn’t a big fan of these shoes they kinda destroyed my Achilles because the pop Cush insole has a pretty tall heel drop and they’re not comfy at all they’re really hard so anything over a 4 stair destroyed my feet. Also the hi top made it super hard to flick tricks so I cut them down to mids and changed the insoles and they skate pretty well now but would still say to get something else if you’re trying to do anything taller than a few feet tall.
You can get the same shoe with a regular insole and they do make a sk8 mid as well as sk8 low. One of the better shoes that actually cover all bases for fans.

It got a Pop Cush insole, (I believe I spotted the remains of a destroyed Checkerboard flag), the reinforced upper eyelets, the heel area’s inside lining seems to be made out of fabric (canvas?) and not the usual fake leather. The one thing I couldn‘t spot is the Duracap reinforcement.

@@chemsomnia he’s absolutely right don’t tell people canvas is a good option for skating because it isn’t. canvas rips instantly the second it touch’s grip tape especially when it’s on the toe. Canvas rips before you can even get used to them it’s just bad advice.

@@skaternoahz Es are the worse shoes I've skated. Truth that you do need the PROs from vans. But it's a personal choice. I liked the AVE and Rowan pros but looking for more cupsoles like the TYSHAWN atm
yesssss, more than ankle support, ankle protection; hate when flipping board, the axle truck hits inside that little ball bone
The half cab outperform the Sk8 hi in every aspect aside from aesthetics.
That’s the only reason I wear mids/highs. If I hit the inside of my ankle it becomes so tender that I have to stop skating.

The sk8 hi is like the "pro" vans shoe before they started making pro versions of all their shoes

Skated many pairs. Nice shoe (Pro model only) Straye Venice (Suede) using the insole from Sk8hi is a great combo. Much more durable for flip tricks.

You have to buy PRO versions. They are much better for actual skating. Not my cup of tea too, I rather skate some thin cupsoles.
