- Since the days of Art Blackey's Jazz-messengers Horace Silver has caught my attention as a great pianist-arranger and I love his work, simply among the finest pianists ever in Jazz, here I honor him with " Song for my father". Please check out my acoustic trio "VidAcustica" for bookings in Holland mail me: jazzguts@gmail.com

When I was 4 or 5 years old I used to play the this song over and over again. This song and "The In Crowd" by the Ramsey Lewis Trio were what started my love of jazz.
Love your playing and thanks for the film of your performance. I will save.
Thank you, and all the best, keep healthy, Vic
Heerlijk zeg.. Ik had hem gisteren al gehoord en dacht dat is een mooi nummer om mee wakker te worden. Nou ja, wakker zijn we dan al maar het blijft mooi om de dag mee te beginnen..

Very nice tune, feeling...and technic❤💕
Thank you, great people show their appreciation, Vic.
That was just pure gold! There are so many good guitar players in YT, but I have rarely heard anyone play each note so clean and make such tasteful arrangements of these jazz classics. And the sound of that guitar is heavenly, especially when you emphasize the bass lines.
Wonderful!!! One of my favorite tunes. I played this back when I was in jazz band. Such a classic tune.
Hi Vic,
Thats a really nice version. I allways loved that sonng. First i heard it live from the violin player Sugar Cane Harris at the Berliner Jazztage.

AMAZING AGAIN ...:D
Not sure what to post here. The original was a showcase for sax, piano and trumpet. Yet somehow you manage to capture it on guitar ?! And you do it well. Superb, well done Sir. Totally different from the original recording, yet you have captured the essence of the spirit, I salute you !
Thank you, many Jazz guitarists have taken jazz compositions in first instance wrote for horns and molded them into good Jazz guitar pieces, greets Vic.
I forgot to say it is one of your coolest videos.... I hear it like 100 times now :-)
Mind blowing sir. Excellent guitar playing there. Hope one day I could be as good as you.
@eclipse707 Somehow I didn't get notice by RUclips for your nice comment sorry for that, thanks so much,Vic.
Your videos are full of magical music.

Best Regards
Hoi Marc, mooi daar ben ik blij om, mensen blij maken met muziek en kunst is het grootste goed, daar kan al het geld op de wereld niet tegen op,Vic.
Hi Victor,
nicely played as ever. I think you're quite right Horace Silver has left us some great tunes. Sophisticated but down to earth and sort of bluesy at the same time. And as you will know a lot of people know just a little bit of his music without knowing anything about Horace Silver thanks to Steely Dan's "Rikki Don't Lose That Number"... ;-)
Excellent! Great playing. Love it!
@beautyjudge It's great you mention this, Jazz is about visualizing, hearing, interacting, it's about having the Music "INSIDE" of you, that's the difference with reading Music from paper,Vic.
Hello Vic, a wonderful song and a great performance as always. Just the right thing with the first cup of coffee in the morning! 5*
Greetings from Germany
Hansel

great song :)
Hi Vic, your version sounds cool man, played in a relaxed tempo with well chosen chords and improvised section. I really enjoyed listening to, great playing and beautiful sound, keep up 5*+, greets, John (Willemstad)
Practice, practice. Never enough time. But now I'm able to get through a few of the standards in order to accompany myself. That's the fun stuff.
For the discipline, I'm studying 6-2-4-5-1 progressions in two positions, numerous arpeggios and diatonic and blues scales some major and minor 9ths, and a 13th shape on the 6th string. So , yeah, I've been working. Thanks for asking. And thanks for the shining example.
@JAZZFLEX09 thanks brother, time's nearing for Curacao trip, looking out to it. thanks for for great comment and thanks so much for tuning in,abrazo Vic.
Beautiful playing, Vic! Beautiful tone. Love Horace Silver.
- Ben
one of my favorites. Played the way I like to hear it. WHAT is it with Pat Matheny...Every time he plays something I don't recognize it. You don't do that. You preserve the melody and make it beautiful. I have the tabs BTW... the rhythm part. Great guitar too. I play it on a SG Standard... sounds good on that too.
Ken FLeming Well sometimes I hear guitarists who don't even take the time to learn the melodic theme, which makes a tune recognizable, they just start barging into their solo, a rather arrogant mentality with no respect for composer and theme, all the best- Vic.
Such a fine tone - you have a great touch
Thanks for the mighty fine feedback, greetings Vic.
superbe !!!
Handsome playing H
Thanks Country, glad you liked it,I enjoy playing bass myself too, especially walking bass. this is an older B.I.B. version set on Bossa, for this style it sounds pretty good, cheers Vic.
Hey dear Vic,
it sounds just awesome!!! Really cool piece!! It is always a big pleasure to listen to you!! No video sounds like the other!!! I really enjoy that!! A big hug Sarah :-)
@greatvanzinni thanks just keep working everyday and you'll get there, cheers Vic.
Fantastic playing and so interesting interpretation, I was searching your videos to find the tune that you play with your great chord vocabulary. Great job, love it you are so inspired here.
Alex
Yeah thanks my friend, you know Alex to survive in Music I have to do so much other things,Rock,Pop, Blues but very little Jazz (where my Heart lies) ,still this takes up much time, sometimes I hardly get a chance to practice Jazz anymore,a darn pity because it's such an incredible Art-form,one of the highest together with Classical Music.
@mprovision thanks Lance, always welcome my dear friend, thought you'd like this one, be sure to check out my latest "Daytripper" I'm sure you'll have a ball,I did playing it and making up the parts,Vic.
@sguitar I love speaking in Images, there's a guitarist here in Holland named:Jan Akkerman and he uses these bright metaphors and mostly they're mind blowing because your mind's eye exactly sees what he means, very creative with words indeed not only with notes, lol, I'll have a listen, hug Vic.
This is amazing
@greenlentils Thanks Romain for digging my version, always welcome, cheers Vic.
Thanks yamitanomura, if it's magic it arises like the morning sun and again gazing with eyes full of sleep,Vic.
