an old comment but if you didn't know. spoilers: the gman is actually an adult shu'ulathoi, or rather a hatched combine advisor, their abilities as an adult are unmatched by any being in the universe, the shu'ulathoi you see in hl2 are in thejr larval stage, the combine enslaved their species just like what they did to the nihilanth, vorts and xen life forms. The shu'ulathoi species had a parasitic infection that weakened them and allowed the combine to travel in their universe, but before they could enslave all of them 1 shu'ulathoi escaped. At the ending of hl1 opposing force the g man said this "I have a fascination with those who adapt and survive against all odds... they rather remind me of myself"

He is always watching you play throughout the games and the fact that this is what plays when you find a TV that shows him makes it terrifying AF when you hear it. The fact you can hear it before you see the TV can symbolise that he is always there but you cant see him but the thing thats its backed up with a terrifying theme tune scares the shit out of us and it makes me think that he isn't what he seems to be and that he has some sort of bad intention.
The G-man only has bad intentions. It's shown The Combine, Vortigaunts and Eli have been trying to stop him as much as they can, knowing the danger he poses.
A few years ago I had a nightmare that had a very distorted song, well, that was when I was 3 or 4 years old, now I'm 8 years old and I still hear that horrible song in my dreams.

I like the way how he's being mysterious, not telling the player anything about himself and just some stuff. Also i think he's some kind of "keeper" that always follows Freeman. I mean, you can see him in-game a lot of times. He's still mysterious though.

I remember I had traveled to San Francisco for my brother graduation from USF in 2012 (University of San Francisco, and they had Bill Cosby as the graduation speaker if you can believe it!) and I played Half Life 2 for the first time all the way through starting at the Seatac airport. God you know even back in 2012 (and that was 8 years after HL2 came out) I remember HL2 was a perfect game in terms of pacing/narrative story-telling. It actually brings tears to my eyes even remembering that San Francisco trip... Now with Corona and everything. You know we are living in history...
