Vanity Fair's The Best-Dressed Women of All Time: Wallis Simpson Хобби
Noel Coward said that the British people should put up statues of the Duchess of Windsor in gratitude for getting Edward VIII off the throne!
Agree!
She definitely dressed well. Her style was impeccable. But that wasn’t a happy marriage for either of them.
And how do you know that for sure? Second hand rumours don't count for fact.
Edward never had any regrets at all about his decision.
@@MrsSlocombesPuddyCat Wallis’s personal letters.
She has great style and her jewelry collection 🙌
This was NOT a love story. She got trapped & couldn't escape.
Alan Bartlett it was a prison of her own making. She deserved what she got.
I thought HE got trapped!
She was emotionally abusive to him.... it's speculated that he had autism and she used that to her benefit. She was in no way a victim.
She did that to her self
They both got trapped; they did that to themselves. Also, VF glamorized their "love story". It was more of an affair. Yes, she was a divorcee but they certainly had an affair first before she even married him which the VF special correspondent failed to mention.
I like her. She never ceases to fascinate me .
Her taste , her style, her wit, her uniqueness her class her meticulous way, her strong presence never outstanding her husband , her support to HRH .....
I'm always curious to know more about her..... such an intriguing interesting personality
"her support to HRH..."
I suggest you do more research.
class? Please explain
I agree.
She’s my great, great grandmothers cousin!
She look more Royal then the Royalty
Lol, yeah right
Oh my !! For sure !
La Duchesa of Windsor personified elegance and chic presentation. She was always unique and individualistic in her presentation and married clothes, jewels and all the accoutrements of her fortunate union with the reluctant King. In spite of all their detractors and critics the Windsors established a brand of good living that set the bar even now for other aristocrats, celebrities and rich socialites. I love how they rubbed it all in the face of the establishment whilst still being part of it. Well done indeed!
Dont really understand, why others copy the stile of a so disliked person...
She was only disliked by a small percentage of the population
❤️her
Maybe being royalty wasn't what he wanted anyway. We assume being royal is wonderful but how could we know? He fancied her obviously, but didn't necessarily fancy his assumed role as royalty. There is no freedom in the bloodline.
It doesn’t matter how beautiful you are on the outside, it only matters if you’re beautiful on the inside. I hope she saved her soul
I Dont believe she was not beautiful on the inside...
She was pretty when she was super young
I have to disagree with Vanity Fair about her being the best dressed woman of all time. I feel sorry for the women who tried to duplicate this woman for their lack of creativity and sense of personal style. Money can't buy everything. There was nothing plain looking about this woman sans the clothes she wore, other than her rather planar figure. She tried to hard and lost what was beautiful to begin with the clothes she wore.
THE DUCHESS is the incarnation of ELEGANCE and CHIC
Nobody copied her
Totally disagree. She looked fabulous for the time - 1940s, 50s and 60s.
Her clothes are georgous
Then why is she celebrated? She had a fascinated personality & even today her fashion is still elegant
She was not plain :::: in my eyes she was a beauty in her time! The person talking in this documentary has the same look as Wallis is she considered plain? For her time yes she is. My option
It's obvious the Duke and Duchess of Windsor really loved each other. That's all that matters.
No they didn't . Only the Duke did , she asked for divorce later and they were separated
@@arshpreetkaurchaddha8081 I had to laugh out load at this pure nonsense!! Seriously, please don’t just make up false stories. They stayed married for 35 years until the duke died in 1972. They were seldom apart during their married life.
Plain looking women Now you have this wrong she was classy not plain at all
Not so romantic now. A woman who spent her whole life sleeping with wealthier and wealthier men. Then when she bagged a king, by squandering a fortune on clothes. Its a shame she was not a woman of substance or charity. What a wasted life. Its nice to know that today a woman would be admired for more than having her hair styled 3 times a day.
Why do you have to be a woman of substance or charity? Everyone has different characters.
Oh stop it.....behave....
She actually was a woman of charity. Do your research.
Excuse me.But When You Gat Plenty Of Money You Will Dress Very Nice. And InHer Time When She Married The Prince .of Wales.Ladies Always Drees Very Nice Especually If You Werw Rich.
A vile woman, abusive to her 3rd husband, openly insulting and mocking her sister in law just because she didnt have her way. Please don't glamorize a narcissist
Her SIL was rather rude too. Takes two to tango.
"She's only a Yank"! said the British Supremacists when I was a WarBaby in Oz!
She certainly wore expensive outfits. But she was not the best dressed in the world at all. Expensive has never been synonymous to elegance.
Her only crime was passion. Compared to some of the terrible slaying and things the monarchy did to people, Wallis was a Saint. She was stunning and she had class. A great love story. Edward gave up the monarchy because he wanted to be with the woman he loved & thats what he announced to the world. No amount of power was able to change that.
the best dress of the world, the best jewelry of the world belongs to the duchess of Windsor
Gold digger as far as I'm concerned and certainly not any great beauty. This retired NYC fashion illustrator will take the beauty and class of the late greats Audrey Hepburn, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and Princess Grace, three stylish fashion icons of the 20th century over Wallis Simpson any day, thank you very much! Including the late Princess Diana and now the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton who always deserve to be on the Best Dressed List!!
She had amazing fashion sense , stop hating.
@Brenda Drew All those you mentioned tried to copy her senses of fashion. She was more natural than them A badass! Didn’t give a darned. Even a king gave his kingdom for her
@@Journeyonn6912 Matter of opinion! To each his or her own~ lol
Adams apple,men have them!
I’m in awe over their love story and binging this weekend.
It wasn't a love story. She was a gold digger and he wanted an excuse to quit the throne
the comments on here are truly the funnest schizophrenia support group message board - i want more!
Narrator hard to understand.
Ghastly coathanger. What a pair 😱😱😱😱😱
She had very good Fibonacci ratio, but she had odd features that’s why people though she was not as beautiful
Wallis needs a statue in honor of her! What she did for the country!♡
The hair is atrocious she needed bangs to frame & soften her face it was just too severe made her look hard
She looked very much like a man.
Love Joy
Lol 😆 my thoughts exactly
Romantic story, indeed.... Such a shame Simpson had (neither) the looks, soul, nor the heart, to deserve her jewels, and position.... Her poor weakling husband; as disloyal as he was, Edward did not deserve such a marital cage, with Wallis as his Warden ... What a waste of Royal money, on such a woman....
Totally disagree with everything you have said.
I have always been fascinated by the Duchess,
She is one of the best examples of , work hard, and you will succeed
+Vreeland Gardner Work hard? What work did she do? I've only heard of her spending her time being involved in extramarital affairs.
+Imagique "Sucked hard, from all accounts."
Maybe you ought to try it. Then maybe you can get off youtube.
Vreeland Gardner
Manipulative?
In those years styles of hair and dress were so different from now. Compared to the Duchess of York, Wallis was slim and attractive. If you look at the Duchess of Cambridge there are great similarities and I think the reason for her long hair as pulled away from her face, the ressemblance is extraordinary.
Opinion
Now we are lumbered with Rachel Meghan Markle , unlike Wallis Simpson , has no flair for fashion no matter how much she spends on her inelegant outfits .
Markle's look and grooming is bargain basement compared to that of Wallis.
Hmmmm. Simpson dressed elegantly so does Meghan...
Always pitting women against each other.........sigh.
It's WOMAN! W-O-M-A-N!
"Women" is plural.
You should have learned that in elementary school.
You can put that the in video you make and post.
Wallis the Gemini..yes we can dress 👗
Girl bye.
Vanity Fair's The Best-Dressed *Man* of All Time: Wallis Simpson
*Wallis Simpson = MTF = Male To Female Transgender*
What a bizarre and silly comment
She WAS the most beautiful woman in the world.
Her look was boring.
That was fashion back in those times
No, it was impeccable. True style is not being over-embellished with detail, jewellery etc. It is well designed, well cut clothing in beautiful fabrics, perfectly fitted to the wearer with subtle accessories together with immaculate grooming. Basically, everything you DON'T see these days!
What ??? 🤔
@@zzzbbbooo yes you are so right! And you put it so well.
She was too skinny. If she had a healthy weight, she would have looked prettier.
I disagree, I think her figure was perfect. We're way to fat these days.
@@dawnlittle2501 girl bye. She was too skinny, but the clothes compliment her, and people look healthier this day.
She wanted to be skinny. Her husband was happy with her.
@@miriamhavard7621
If a woman wants to be skinny, that’s fine.
But the ‘husband wants it’ should not be the criteria.
Redhead musician and tattoo artist Frank Carter should play King Edward VIII and Rooney Mara should play Wallis Simpson. 🎭🩰🎨
