    FINALLY! it seemed like I was the crazy one for wanting to have fly and spinning rods in the same case.

    I’m getting so “Christmas story” vibes from that box. Looks like the one the leg lamp came in. Defiantly gotta pick this thing up for next season tho

    Love the John Deere tractor with the snow blower. I retired from Deere 4 years ago, great company. The rod case looks great too.

    How low does the box drop form the bottom of the box (where you mount the holder)for where the reel holder is

    You could cut a notch in the top and or bottom of the pvc liner for the larger bottom guide.

    When you have a spinning rod in there how far is it from the furthest forward position to the door? My catfish rod has a long handle and I'm not sure if it would fit.

      You can do it yourself for less than $200.. Use sealed painted wood, then wrap it in sheet metal or vinyl

    I like the case! It's a tad pricy but serves a real purpose. My question is; would you leave this on during the summertime? And would you store a bait caster or spinning rod with braid in it during those hot summer months?

    • @mainetroutwhisperer
      @mainetroutwhisperer  4 года назад +1

      I would. Why not? I plan on leaving a spinning rod in there in the summer.

      I have to applaude ‘tomatoplot’ for his kind heartedness and lack of defensiveness with Mr. Trout Whisperer. It’s your money obviously and your luxury. I’m building a DIY fly rod holder with an ammo box and ABS for may car rack and buying an Ultimate for my 4Runner. After 30 yrs of fly fishing i’ve broken plenty of rod tips, missed guides in my haste to get on the water and routinely have 2-4 rods rigged with different lines. This is a solution for me that humbly I’m able to afford. But buddy, I salute your patience with this fella trying to get your goat. You must know the Lord!

      A little, but it’s not too bad. It’s mostly from the roof rack

      @@425TAWS Hate to tell you, but it’s more than $550 for the normal consumer in 2022. Look at some of the competitors.. Riversmith =$800, Big Sky= $1,000, Yakima= $800, Thule=$800. Not sure they would even make money at $250. It’s all custom/hand made with huge pieces of aluminum…You might be able to make your own for that much with 4- 10’ PVC and a plastic tool box..there’s videos.

    You know they make rods that break down into pieces these days, bub?

    • @mainetroutwhisperer
      @mainetroutwhisperer  4 года назад +5

      Yup. And they always take time to set up if you’re fishing multiple rods. With a case you can set them up the night before, have your leaders and flies all on and ready to go.

    • @tomatoplot
      @tomatoplot 4 года назад

      @@mainetroutwhisperer Cool, so you spend however many hundred bucks to save 10 minutes of your time. That'll make all the difference. Also, you know you can still break down a rod with line strung through it it right?

    • @mainetroutwhisperer
      @mainetroutwhisperer  4 года назад +3

      @@tomatoplot yup, but I don’t have to now. Lol. As much as I fish I’d rather keep them together. For multi day trips and spot hopping its great.

      @@mainetroutwhisperer Seems like a waste of money to me, but having more money than I know what to do with is a problem I have yet to experience. Some day, maybe. Till then, fishermen I see with rigs like this on their vehicle will just drive home the sentiment that fishing lures are meant to catch men, not fish. :)

      I hear what you’re saying. That’s the fishing industry man. It can suck you in. It’s really about finding the value in a product. If the product makes you a more efficient angler, solves a problem, or just makes for an overall more pleasant experience..I’m interested. I’ve always had a problem with rod storage and transportation when I go on trips, so this case solves a problem for me. You may not, but I see the value in this product and that’s totally ok. Just don’t get mad when we both pull up to the fishing spot and I beat you down there and catch all your fish... lol jk. Thanks for the view! 🎣
