.. thank you for the positive comments , I own a starlet with a 1.3 turbo engine & s.a fuel management, the rebuilt has been done by friends of mine from garage Ultimate Racing back in 2009 .. great car to drive (and always attracts attention)
I'm driving a 1991 mk1 turbo starlet running on standard turbo with front mount and relocated air intake boosting on .9 it's putting out about 150 bhp. Great fun car I love it.
Ive had a few of these. best one was running 200 bhp. i own a civic type r ep3 now and to be honest i miss the pull in my gt. great cars and very good on handling.
I had 3 gt starlets when I was in my 20s now I'm 38 and I picked one up about 5 years ago and it was sitting in my drive up until a week ago, now it's with my mechanic getting a full overhaul and I can't wait to get it back on the road
I've always liked these for some reason. They look like a Micra with a bodykit but when they're black out and have bucket seats they look so cosy inside.
Brilliant cars. I had these and the glanza and loved them. good times.. I'm 38 I used to insure them as efi ones to get it cheaper here in Ireland saved a fortune 😅
you sealed the deal for me bro. Was thinking of buying one for so long. After watching this video i went out and got one. Now a happy starlet GT owner. Thanks mate 😀
I feel you only really brushed the surface with this. I've owned my GT for over 5 years and appreciate what you say about torque steer, but fitting an LSD makes it much more snappy and unpredictable in some cases. Also with a rear interior they're actually pretty well sound deadened and easy to use on a daily basis. I don't feel you spoke about the handling as much as you should have done as I've found it to be one of the best things about the car. It can be a little tail happy with lack of care but when driven properly they're stable and quite predictable. Not to mention that there are also endless amounts of handling upgrades on the market which completely transform them. Over all they're a typical hatchback with the capability to beat most cars on the road with around £4-5k spent on them. Power and handling... However you lose most comfort and practicality with the more modifications you do to make it faster - like with all cars..... A nice video though. It's interesting to see the opinion of someone who does't own one! Keep it up mate. Interested to see more reviews :).
+Adam Yates (BrokenMedia) unfortunately i only get around 40 minutes with the cars so can never go super into detail on all of them, and for the handing i didn't really get a chance to really use it because the talk steer was so overwhelming haha! yeah i just wanted to put my view on the car as its set up now without going into what you could get from one of these, until i do jump in one that has all of the handing upgrades
It looks like an awesome car even at stock form. I have heard great opinions about its handling on the twisties. Let me ask you something, is this EP82 the only starlet that is worth looking at or are there more models and years that worth noticing? Also what other hatches do you think compare to it?
Billblackeye ep82 great car but have a look at the ep85 (4wd version) or the glanza ep91 or ep95 (4wd version) or even the ep70 turbo or lol for a true great the rwd Kp60 😎 worth a look
+urbex2007 First of all, your probably over 21 for your insurance to be £300 fully comp, and you clearly don't know what your talking about with the whole restriction thing... Nobody cares that your car is quiet, your probably just a boring person anyway. There is a saying... "Built not bought!"
+urbex2007 Seen Starlets with 350hp run Mid 11s on 225 tyres from a 1.3L with gt2876r turbo Not bad, for what it is lol.. is it over 20 yrs old? an is fun in the twisties aswell lol, an no i dont own one but its good to see all kinds of cars out having work done to them.. ive seen 9s in these starlets with 20k builds, an thats AUD Dollar
I can guarantee that a 210 bhp GT is 20 tines more fun to drive than a 300 break still. I've a 200bhp starlet and the look and people's faces when I leave them standing at lights is hilarious.
I'm planning on getting a standard starlet and just putting in the 4e-fte and an LSD that way I can hav low insurance and a beast, I've seen it done with 1.3 subies
people find it hard to believe that the motor is just 1.3lirs but they go like stink when you open up the exhaust and the intake, and do a ECU tune.... brilliant.
I'm looking at getting one 18 no ncb (only got my licance a week ago) Glanza is 2k for a year with out black box ep82 2.5k with black box I prefer the look of these so I think it's worth a black box for the year
I remember in 04\05 ringing up insurance for a price as wanted it badly( tried fiat uno turbo). The guy from insurance heard turbo and injected and laughed!!
With all the aftermarket/modification stuff/parts tht are being stated here, how bout the ECU/management system?? is tis car (in tis video) uses stock OEM ECU or any aftermarket piggyback/standalone management system?? n is the 'custom tdo4' tebo means the subie tdo4 tebo has been 'tweaked/hybrid/modified'?? thnks... :D me oso got a stock 4E,, planning to change a tebo, coz d OEM ct9a tebo is not 'healthy'..bcoz i saw an engine oil at the blow off valve..i thnk tht d tebo oil seal was leaking.. turbo repair kit is hard to find in me country..all other 4E FTE/EP82 parts oso hard to find nowadays.. for eg., the engine mount., n sensor related like knock sensor.. thnk for sharing.. :D #motorsportsneverend
loving all your vids. keep up the work. You should either do a review on a Pulsar gti-r or a e46 m3??? But a competitor for that starlet would be a boosted civic eg or ek
+King Kong I'm trying to get my hands on both of those actually so fingers crossed I'm able to soon! yeah i think a turbo'd civic would be a good comparison to this, hopefully in the future i can find one to shoot
They aren't super hard to find. I have one as does a buddy of mine. Going rate is roughly 12-15K USD for it to be legalized. In Japan they go for 7-12k USD.
sorry but see it all the time where i am from, see b series swaps into starlets too, starlets are fun but, civic with a swap is much faster, you'd need series work to make a starlet a contender,
I was just giving you crap man. Most people don't know that stock for stock in power per liter the 4e-fte is actually just as strong as a 2jz-gte. There have been plenty of them go over 400whp on a completely stock bottom end. Pretty impressive for a 1.3L.
+DubSe7en i wish i was exaggrating! with an open diff and all that power it pulls the car all owner the place. Do bare in mind I'm used to RWD/4WD cars so jumping in something like this was an experience!
+Jamie_FYD lol fair enough mate. Mine runs anti lift plates which makes a big difference. Also rear arb keeps the rear in check. Koni dampers are more forgiving on British roads too.
yeah i think with what the owner is planning it will drive just like yours and react to its own power in a completely different way when its all done, with this i just wanted to grab a go in it before anything is done so i can show how this one was set up when he got it
no way that's stock internals definitely forged, I had a glanza very for a few years loved that wee thing. I crashed it at 30 mph and the front end just crumpled lol cost me a fortune to fix it with second hand parts.
haha love the comment on cyclist give them fking turbo haha, that sounds insane I love that blow off, impreza turbo in that sounds insane, I don't think a civic stand anywhere near that, thats a pocket rocket lol

Its funny cos i had a non turbo starlet a year before my glanza and it was a fantastic car. That was a reliable old girl and the best part of it was i got it for £280! The glanza cost over 12 times that and was a nightmare!
That sucks bro, indeed there may actually be no more of a reliable car than a little starlet n/a or even a micra if desperate lol. They will see well into 170k if not well more. Pity about your turbo version, some cars are unlucky just, it's a common thing. But I would have to say after all my experiences I cannot believe that my old stolen recovered gt is running as a healthy daily today. It was lucky it wasn't torched at the scene, poor thing has had a hard life but never gives up and is maintained and driven hard. 4efte is some serious engineering. Art even. The team that built it were very proud I'm sure. Build quality first, profits second. Japanese ethic
Lifes a gamble you win some you lose some. Aw dont car crime is terrible in edinburgh. See i have an is200 again which is slow and greedy but hey, its still a toyota which in turn should prove to be reliable man
This video was one of the reasons I started looking for a starlet a month ago... I bought one yesterday!!!!!
+Dan Foskett good times man hope your enjoying it!
great cars, just need good lowering springs or coilovers
Did you buy it online?
Sick car, they're pricey now
She's sold 😭back to the old owner though
Just the smile on his face says it all. Nice thrill and low cost. Love the starlet.
.. thank you for the positive comments , I own a starlet with a 1.3 turbo engine & s.a fuel management, the rebuilt has been done by friends of mine from garage Ultimate Racing back in 2009 .. great car to drive (and always attracts attention)
+Tripz Included awesome car to own mate!
ahhhhh, memories. black, torque steer, rattles, boost, never gives up, smiles, Japan, Incredible. I miss my quad light GT
this chap is better than the new topgear, your starlet vid was great, i miss my starlet gt subbed
We need more reviews like this for first time drivers with cheap cars, I love this video it's made me want one
I'm driving a 1991 mk1 turbo starlet running on standard turbo with front mount and relocated air intake boosting on .9 it's putting out about 150 bhp. Great fun car I love it.

My starlet is my life pretty much watching these starlet videos is giving me ideas on what to do with mine
you sealed the deal for me bro. Was thinking of buying one for so long. After watching this video i went out and got one. Now a happy starlet GT owner. Thanks mate 😀
Vili Tabuwere how's it been so far?
I would own one of these as a daily, probably would be a little toned down from this one, but nonetheless gt's are awesome little cars
I love your reaction! Your reviews are brilliant!!
I feel you only really brushed the surface with this. +Subaru Sti hahahaha!!!!

"Noise just means there is an obstruction, that's why you hear it" ahahaha you're an idiot
I've had a couple of friends with these including one that's just under 250 bhp
Had 3 of these cars love them and allways will that manifold looks like edds old manifold built by custom pipes in Doncaster lovely motor
You deserve so much more recognition.
thanks man!
+Jamie_FYD I have grown a huge addiction to your channel
I'm planning on getting a standard starlet and just putting in the 4e-fte and an LSD that way I can hav low insurance and a beast, I've seen it done with 1.3 subies
Well done man finally a good video about a starlet cheers man and keep it up
+josette baldacchino thanks man!
Oh my god this is my old starlet! This was my first car 😍 miss it so much!!
+Kellie Wright no way! its so good, awesome first car haha!
+Jamie_FYD I know haha! Was many years ago now. I brought those alloys for it as well :) I'm glad it's still on the road. Where abouts do you live?
aaaa thats awesome! on the isle of wight now, its owned by a starlet enthusiast and had just gone threw a complete engine rebuild
Thanks Jamie I've got the starlet bug again haha cracking video mate
+PlatinumAlloysWYorks yeah man its epic!
Best cars to have fun with . Miss my ep 82
people find it hard to believe that the motor is just 1.3lirs but they go like stink when you open up the exhaust and the intake, and do a ECU tune.... brilliant.
why does switch gear as soon as the boost kicks in
These are one of the best lil japanese cars in the world.... Toyota Turbo Starlet all the way ;-)
you really need to test one out at 1.4 bar they make about 260-280bhp it's a completely different experience
I'm looking at getting one 18 no ncb (only got my licance a week ago) Glanza is 2k for a year with out black box ep82 2.5k with black box I prefer the look of these so I think it's worth a black box for the year
Mate from my garage has got a Toyota Starlet GT Turbo EP82 and bloody hell the acceleration 😂
bought one after seeing this video, yeh. might reconsider the influence youtube has XD
Fuck civic's I'd much rather have a starlet
got a four speed manual starlet from 1998. sadly it's not the GT model. planning to sell it dirt cheap
I remember in 04\05 ringing up insurance for a price as wanted it badly( tried fiat uno turbo). The guy from insurance heard turbo and injected and laughed!!
I think this will kill vtech boooooooost lol
H. Hassan haha no chance.

i am putting one of these stock (for now)in a ford festiva 92 any thoughts?
Thinking about buying one any info on insuring one
This is the eg competitor if done properly
Used to owned last time,I manage to get only 165hp/190nm
Question is, would you own one now? I'm having a phase do I get rid of my Celica GT4 for one of these or not!
Funny video, enjoyed it.
+Lewis Brown I'm not sure i would, only because i prefer bigger cars
+Jamie_FYD That's fair enough, thanks!
No man, never had one of these but the GTfour is another kind of beast! I would love to own one at sometime.
has this starlet got a throttle cable fitted into it ?

Can u find a Nissan pulsar gtir
that can probably be arranged ;)
They aren't super hard to find. I have one as does a buddy of mine. Going rate is roughly 12-15K USD for it to be legalized. In Japan they go for 7-12k USD.
Not thay rare in England my dad had 1 in 2004 had a rb25 engine in tho
+emokiddy666 especially a working 20v turbo lol
Jamie what ecu was in this?
I have a paseo same engine but I don’t know where to find parts for it
Stock pistons? And fuel pump?
The joy in your face 😂
I currently own a Civic EP2 Sport 1.6 sohc and i want to sell it for one of these beasts!
+Kyle Anthony do it you won't regret it!
+Kyle Anthony could always just swap a b16 or b18 into ur ep.. an do a turbo kit ;)
+Scott N-Me do you reckon they would consider an ep2 swap with their car with b series engine mate?
sorry but see it all the time where i am from, see b series swaps into starlets too, starlets are fun but, civic with a swap is much faster, you'd need series work to make a starlet a contender,
does anyone know of any information pertaining to a coil on plug conversion for the 5efe?
starlet engines most reliable engine ever
4e-fe engine
4e-fte :)
+TurboNFRStwoK there turbo charged engines . the 4efe are good . cast iron block makes it the little brother of the 2jz which makes it very reliable
I was just giving you crap man. Most people don't know that stock for stock in power per liter the 4e-fte is actually just as strong as a 2jz-gte. There have been plenty of them go over 400whp on a completely stock bottom end. Pretty impressive for a 1.3L.
+TurboNFRStwoK Yep your right mate i use to have a glanza but crashed it lol. might upload me crashing it.
Also, my car does pull a little, but I feel you might be exaggerating a bit. It ain't that bad :-)
+DubSe7en i wish i was exaggrating! with an open diff and all that power it pulls the car all owner the place. Do bare in mind I'm used to RWD/4WD cars so jumping in something like this was an experience!

does this have power steering?
what computer u running?
Jamie where r u from?
What's your current daily Jamie? :)
Same reaction in many videos, one thing common. INSANE.
Very good car i love it😍
cool my dad has one of these
What bov is on this ?
is it four wheel drive
Jason Williams fwd
1:22 why's it sound like it hit vtec
That's the turbo coming on boost
is this forged internals or stock engine with a td04
stock piston can used with boost less 0.8kg
+keenan kassidi I'm 99% sure its stock but i will contact the owner and find out for you
no way that's stock internals definitely forged, I had a glanza very for a few years loved that wee thing. I crashed it at 30 mph and the front end just crumpled lol cost me a fortune to fix it with second hand parts.
+rusty _ glanza v that was ment to say lol
+Jamie_FYD did you find out if the internals were forged or stock mate?
what insurance group are these in?
+DjamehK ill have to look into it as i have no idea!
Pocket rocket 🚀
"An lsd because it ffffucking needs it" haha !

Why isn’t police doing anything about this?
haha love the comment on cyclist give them fking turbo haha, that sounds insane I love that blow off, impreza turbo in that sounds insane, I don't think a civic stand anywhere near that, thats a pocket rocket lol
+Donna Kifford haha! yeah man it sounds insane! glad you enjoyed the video
I think the problem in the Starlet it's not 4WD
Ep85 is 4wd, rare enough though
+Dj Lyons Oz or new Zealand is the place to pick one up, it would cost a fortune though
You can find them, but they've still got the rear beam suspension so not sure how well they'd handle
Do love these, but I couldn't own one. Too much power in too little a car. I would kill my self to quickly..
+psp0guy exactly my thoughts mate!
import??
all starlet turbos/glanzas are imports yes
