Fun fact: Apparently, the WOL is not over his death either, and probably never will be. This is the one death that truly sticks with us, no matter what. Wow, that wasn’t fun at all.
It's been just 2 weeks for me. I....I am still not ok and may sound a little weird or crazy, but I actually loved this character so much!! He cared for us and was our true friend. I always thought from the begining that the Scions, while amazing characters and friends to WoL have eachother from before you come into their lives, thus always keeping a distance of sorts from u (aside from the twins of course, but until this event, Alphinough was the only one to actually be beside you, and he too was.... not ok after all that happened.) But then Haurchefant was OURS!!! He also asked for our help of course, but he also truly cared for our safety and for us in general. He then went ahead and convinced his father to take us in and was beside us at any chance he had. Taking into consideration all of his lines and the way he acted around us, beside being in awe of the WoL he was deeply in love as well. He respected and admired us so muvh, he was honored and content with laying his life down for us and in his final moment all he asked for was our smile. In japanese his words are a bit different, way more personal than a smile suita a hero. He says something like that (' a sad face does not suit a hero' ) and his final words are more on the line of 'your smile is the best' or ' you look more amazing with a smile' or 'yoir smile is amazing'. The ' ii' he always ses can stand for great, amazing, splendid (as some of u might kniw) or the best..... He didn't see us as just a hero, although WoL def was his hero and inspiration, but he was us as our own person, someone amazing he loved. It still hurts so much!!! So sorry for ranting here.... Thank you so much for this video, it hurt all over again but honestly I am glad I was not the only one to cry.... Have u guys read the letter he apparently wrote to the WoL? 😭😭
@@SolaniVT The White Mage Questline explains that you can't heal fatal wounds or terminal diseases. White Magic can't prevent death. When you are rezzing in dungeons, you aren't bringing people back to life as much as revivifying them from unconciousness.
I went through this yesterday, cried, yelled a bit as I was playing as a White Mage. Stepped away for an hour before switching to Ninja and slashed a lot of things during roulettes.
Seeing this hurt first time, i was a dragoon at the time too, so I could have jumpex out of the way of iiit... RIP Haurchefaunt, we will remember your friendliness and warming presence as comfirting as the hot chocolate you gave us
Not just that, he literally persuaded his family to basically adopt you, Alphinaud, & Tataru into House Fortemps. He held you in such high regard, that he literally brought you into his own family without the slightest reservation or hesitation. And look at his reaction when you return from facing Shiva for the first time, he's angry at you for doing so, but it's quickly made apparent that his anger is born entirely out of worry and concern for your well-being. And I'm convinced that, particularly in the case of a female WoL, that he probably also harbored feelings of more than just friendship for her (and based on the WoL's reaction here, those feelings were most likely mutual). His father was absolutely right about Haurchefant embodying the very essence of what a Knight should be, someone who acts for the sake of others without any concern for their own benefit, and someone who won't hesitate to lay down their life for the sake of someone else. Haurchefant embodied the ideals of Knighthood perfectly, which is what makes his death hurt so much more, because he didn't deserve to die like this, he deserved a much kinder fate. The only consolation is that we are able to avenge him in the end by shattering Thordan's delusions of grandeur by defeating King Thordan and all of his Knights....and as far as the story is concerned, we actually did so *on our own with no help from anyone else* ....we basically defeated the equivalent of *13 Primals* all at once, and we did so alone! If *that* wasn't enough to shatter Thordan's delusions and ambitions, I don't know what *would* be enough!
Sadly, it's mentioned, I believe during the WHM quests, that fatal wounds can't be healed even with healing magic. I was a RDM during this, but even as a RDM there wasn't any way to save him (even Red Mages are bound by the same white magic restrictions as a true White Mage). I actually knew what was going to happen before I even began A Knight's Calling (I'd actually procrastinated and been avoiding that particular quest for a long while because I *knew* what was going to happen ahead of time, and I didn't want to watch Haurchefant go out like that....not after everything he'd done for us, and yet in this one moment we aren't able to return the favor by saving him). And in my case it hit me even harder because my character was heavily based off of a D&D character I had used in the past who had a really rough past to begin with, and I really didn't want to have to watch her lose Haurchefant on top of all of that as well. I did record this scene with my character as well (I don't speak at all during it though, because I didn't have a working mic at the time), and I also uploaded it on my channel as a private video, but I can link it if you at least want to see my character reacting.
Brochefant.. I was a Dark Knight, I could've taken that, but he chose to protect me. My dearest, beloved brother. Even if we weren't of the same blood, we were brothers in arms. He was a true knight, nay, a true Paladin. Never was he selfish, he always put others well-being above his own. I miss my bro

This was also the point in time I decided playing a miqote would be cool but I soon realized that I liked my lalafell better haha.
I was an astro when this happened to me. Back then there was a card to boost defense i could have shielded him. The worst part was he did save our life, at that time in game we didn't have our blessing of light so we really would have died otherwise if it wasn't for him. Still miss him

The most wholesome and likeable character died protecting us by such a bitch attack, and I failed him in such a tragic way! God, this game, my guy ...
That gasp when the spear… yeah. It was so visceral. The same happened for me. I had all the healing classes leveled but I was playing BLM at the time! *cries*
New patch and I'm still crying over this. Healers are like "BUT I CAN HEAL THAT", but since I'm a tank I was mashing my keyboard trying to get up and do something like hit the spear or mitigate it. MAN, LET ME SAVE HIM PLEASE, IT WAS POSSIBLE, THEN WHY KILL HIM? WHY DO WE ONLY STARE?
By the time it hit his shield, there was no saving him. If you tried to push him out of the way, it would have hit you, and he wouldn't let you die. If he deflected it would have hit you, as you were right behind him. It was a weapon designed to kill YOU, and part of Lahabrea's plot.

I was so annoyed that we could not help him at all!!!!!! “What point did that serve?” Is right :( they didn’t didn’t need to kill him off!!!
