Denis, what engine does old gal have in her? My father had a pair of short wheelbase 2 axel Mack FJ series cabovers with the Mack exclusive Maxidyne torque monster engines that came with a mere 5 speed manual transmission back in the late 1970's. Hetold me that his two trucks pulled the Northbound I-5/Grapvine at the posted 4 wheeler speed limit despite the fact they pulled cubed out dry van doubles. Between the torque monster engines and especially the fact that my dad's customer shipped paper products, pops and his workers always amazed people who honestly believed our drivers were deadheading. My dad said there was one driver who wouldn't stop hasling him everytime he saw our rig until the other dude's mouth cost him $50.
I had an F Model a long time ago... V-8 Mack, 5 Speed Transmission, 36" Sleeper and NO Power Steering.... Its only flaw was it was a Cab Over.... I actually kind of wish I wouldn't have sold it....
spent many an hour in a 70 slab cab F model.237 5 speed.its lack of power made it a road hazzard to 290 cummins powered trucks.thats pretty bad.its a wonder i dont have more lower back problems.they will kick the sh•t out of you on imperfect roads as well.
Great looking mack cannot wait until she is restored
Definatly got some work to do , she is rough. Glad to see it getting a second life.
Makes a refreshing change from the inevitable Freightliner or Kenworth.
