@13:45-14:00 you put Antabuse in the substitute category. Antabuse is not an alcohol substitute nor is it even psychoactive. It inhibits Acetaldehyde dehydrogenase, causing a buildup of Acetaldehyde which is extremely unpleasant, and is supposed to cause aversion to alcohol. Can be dangerous though. Either way it's not a substitute!
Acamprosate however is somewhat closer to a substitute in that it has effect on GABA and NMDA like alcohol and therefore works with the same receptors.

Thanks so much for all the great science, hope I can find this channel earlier. I have a question for a long time, why the DA receptors reduces for much higher DA level of drug user, or for a regular guy, a continous specific stimulation will cause desensitization like video games ,social media, porn. Is there any reason behind this, just biolocical reason? or it's a good strategy for evolution. I believe in evolutionary psychology but I cannot connect those, really looking forward to your response!!!

Most neurons undergo adaptation. It's a way to protect the neuron from a toxic buildup of sodium ions.

@@PaulMerritt thanks very much. And I really want to know something about the how negative emotion works in our brain. Let's assume I was beaten hardly by a bad guy, I get very angry but I feel that anger just dominate me and I become very sensitive to any cues of the bad guy. what happens in our brains in this course, any lecture from you I can learn to understand this?
