  • What's Up Folks,
Here is a quick video show you where the Circuit Breaker Reset is for the Onan Micro Quiet generator built into the Thor Majestic 28a Ford E-450 V10 Triton 6.8L RV in this video.
The procedure itself should be very similar for most other generators and RV models also. So you can use this as a general guide too.
This circuit breaker is separate from the panel in the RV itself. Often this breaker will trip if you run the Microwave and the Air Conditioner at the same time while using the RV.
For example, a common scenario would be a hot summer day, you turn on the air conditioner, the fridge switches to electricity mode, you plug in all your devices to charge. Then you decide to heat up some food in the microwave... boom all AC power is lost. Lights, fans small things will remain to work on battery.
A good sign that the breaker needs resetting - When you plug in the RV the generator should rev up a little because now it is working harder than neutral. If there is zero difference in the RPMs of the generator between unplugging the rv and plugging the RV, it likely means there is no power draw.
It is easy to reset the breaker. I hope this helps you!

    we have a problem!
the little switch was broken off so I ordered a replacement breaker. apparently the prongs were a little different than the original, but my husband got it reattached.
now he's going through rounds and rounds of troubleshooting..
    here's what he said:
-unplugged the plug that goes into the switch that starts it from the outside
    -replaced breaker
    -plugged it back in
then the gen only started when the engine was running, not the house battery.
now gen won't start at all, and the engine battery is no longer charging the house batteries, which are both new.
    he is baffled

That is a tricky one. If the generator was running before only when engine was started, then it could mean the battery was weak used the extra charge to start. This happens to me usually when the battery is weak. If the engine has stopped charging the battery also that wouldn't help, because now you are not getting that extra charge to help start the generator. If this is the case, it could be to do with the engine/alternator not charging the battery or the battery not being charged when you plug in the RV.
Normally with it is some fuse somewhere that is blown when power just cuts. Do you know if power is reaching the batteries at this point when the engine is on? If power is running to the battery from the alternator and the battery is new, then that should be okay at least battery power supply wise. If you engine battery keeps auto recharging then the alternator should be okay.
I am really just guessing here based on what you mentioned. Usually it is a fuse, a wiring, or dead battery(yours is new) issue.

What are the symptoms when this breaker is tripped? Mine is a 2800 that starts and runs as long as you are pressing start button.

When this breaker trips. You will hear the generator running, but no power will be provided to any of the things plugged into it. One the breaker is back in position it will provide power again from the generator outlets. One good sign to look for is the generator not making any different noises when you add a load to the plugs. On load it should work harder. I think yours is running fine. The breaker is more likely to trip if you run the AC and then use the microwave along some with other devices at the same time.

That is a breaker not a fuse

That is 100% correct👍 Didn't realize I was saying fuse until rewatching it just now. I did put the description and title correctly though. Circuit breakers trip, fuses need to be replaced when blown.
