What's Up Folks,
We recently took a road trip from Vancouver to Calgary and along the way we took a stop at the Skunk Cabbage Boardwalk Trail in British Columbia near Revelstoke. Our main goal was to have lunch which we did. We had a very good meal that we prepared using our stove at their picnic table area.
During our break there, we saw Apex River Rafting guiding a whole crew out for a 4 hour river ride. I managed to get a good video of the launching spot and method they used to launch into the rive...

    I like the generator conversion, ive debated swapping my generator out for a solar setup. that looks like plenty of space for batteries converter inverter etc. could have my off grid rig I want yet with some work.

    • @thebestfamilyoutdoorshow
      @thebestfamilyoutdoorshow 23 часа назад

      It would sure make for an amazing off grid solution. You could technically do 4 batteries to make things last even longer. Not too shabby. Off the top of my head, I like to store things like, foldable lawn chairs, extra oil, shoes and sometimes dry wood for camping.

      They probably dont want to fix their mistake, and they are trying to get you to drive it past their warranty period. Take it back to them, If they still don't offer to fix it, tell them to give you something in writing that says you brought it to their attention before the warranty expired and what their diagnosis of the sound is, this will usually get them to do something, if not have another shop look at it and see if what they say.

    • @thebestfamilyoutdoorshow
      @thebestfamilyoutdoorshow 15 дней назад

      I think David is on to something. I have had this type pf repair done on a Nissan Armada V8 and this Ford E-350 V8. Both times they went quiet after the fix, which makes sense. ( I have hear of the manifold bolts going loose and causing the noise the return, but I don't think this is the case since it is too soon) It is also possible that the manifold is fixed, but something else down the line or in front of the manifold system has a leak somewhere too. A second shop for another pair of eyes would be a good next step to rule things out.

    • @thebestfamilyoutdoorshow
      @thebestfamilyoutdoorshow 20 дней назад

      @@Grevlain Hey I went up there and I wasn't able to tell what make or model the Solar Panel is at this point. My apologies bud. The labels are on the bottom on the panel and I would need to remove it to see it. I am pretty sure you are right that it isn't a 1000w panel, now that I have thought about it a little more - I think it is a 200-300w panel that costs me $1000 dollars. I wish I could be more specific, but I really can't. I didn't focus to much on it because the main purpose of this video is showing the general setup of a solar panel on the Majestic 23A. It's been a awhile since this was installed, so at least the theory of the install is sound. The storage box was done professionally - I had a person weld/bolt on a metal plate storage box to hold the batteries. So it is super strong to hold the heavy batteries in addition to other stuff. I think a DYI with water treated wood would work very well too and would be much easier to DYI.

    • @Grevlain
      @Grevlain 20 дней назад

      @@thebestfamilyoutdoorshow Excellent. I really appreciate the extra info you gathered. That wattage and price seems right on target for the age of the panel. Thanks so much. I just want to toss a question out there...that platform the toilet sits on - do you have any idea if its done because there is something under it, or did they just build in an empty box to lift the toilet? I ask because I would want to swap it out for a composting toilet. Thanks again!! Cheers!!

    Does your truck equipped with tow/haul mode?

    • @thebestfamilyoutdoorshow
      @thebestfamilyoutdoorshow Месяц назад

      Yes it is equipped with the standard tow/haul mode. On this model, when you start the engine, the default is that the Tow/Haul Mode turns on. You will need to manually turn it off you want it disabled. Since I normally drive this in the mountains, and where I live is pretty hilly, I almost always have it on when I drive. I do find it the ride to be smoother with Tow/Haul mode off, when I am in the city driving around at slow speeds.

    • @thebestfamilyoutdoorshow
      @thebestfamilyoutdoorshow Месяц назад

      Also wanted to note, that the Tow/Haul mode helps with both climbing hills and descending downhill by gearing down.

      @@thebestfamilyoutdoorshow you still have to select gears even you’re in Tow/haul when descending?

    • @thebestfamilyoutdoorshow
      @thebestfamilyoutdoorshow Месяц назад

      @@jhonnelelegaspi7125 You don't normally have to select gears manually with Tow Haul Mode. From what I can tell by observation from driving is that it gears down more aggressively automatically when descending with tow/haul enabled. To elaborate a little more... I only gear down for extended long downhill runs so I don't end up riding my breaks as hard. For example, I do gear down to 3rd gear in some instances - Rogers Pass and Coquihalla. Those have extended downhill runs. Never really had to gear down to 2nd before. So to answer your question - No you don't have to select gears manually, but the option is there for you when you need to use it. I don't usually tow with my RV, but if I was to tow something, I would be more included to gear down manually on down hills. I hope that helps.

      Yes Costco will either pro rate the battery or give you can exchange if it is within warranty. In my experience, Walmart (I bought Energizer and Everstart brand before) and Costo (Kirkland brand) are about the same price and quality for the 12v batteries. Thanks for informative videos!

    • @thebestfamilyoutdoorshow
      @thebestfamilyoutdoorshow 2 месяца назад

      Yep those will work too. Sometimes the build up is so hard that you need to scrap it off. You can probably scrap quite a bit off before you have issues. Replacing the terminals are pretty cheap too. But honestly I haven't thought twice about scrapping them, there are probably less abassive options like you mentioned. If a toothbrush combined with a cleaner or baking soda works, that is a very good method. Thanks for sharing 👍

      It wasn't so bad actually. Mid trip we took a couple of days and hung out with some family in Paris so it was a nice break. I think the key was to not do back to back long days. For example, we hit Disneyland Paris one day. That wore us out pretty bad from all the walking. So the next day we relaxed and enjoy just eating food. Kids can be a pain sometimes on these trips, but each trip, they are getting better and better. What really helps is when my the dad, carries everything for everyone - fortunately I am still strong enough at this age. - That way they can enjoy go a bit further. Everyone had a great time though. So I usually dewintetize late may and winterize it back in late September. There are some chemicals you can dump in the tank to sanitize, but I haven't used these. For water usage patterns. Hey I am not sure why that happened. If all the running lights are off, it could be a fuse that has tripped. I am not 100% sure on this one but I think the fuse you want to check is the one for the tail lamp circuit, the one you want to check is Fuse 22 or F22 which should be a 15 amp fuse. This is located in the interior fuse panel. This is the panel behind the foot brake or emergency brake. You can usually tell if the fuse is blown by visual inspection. Most of the time if a fuse blows you can see the metal piece in the middle broken. I hope this fixes your problem.

      I just read it a bit more carefully. So only the top 3 on the right died. That is odd and I am not sure why if that is the case. A few steps I would recommend is reversing the changes you did and see if the lights come back on. If not, perhaps use a multimeter and check if you are getting power to the lights. If there is power and the lights are not on, then the lights somehow broke. If there is no power, then maybe the fuse is blown or there is some wiring issues. Again, I am just really guessing. I do not know why only some of the lights would work but not all. I think all the running lights, front top and back top all are one fuse.

      Hey thanks for sharing your experience. Most of the RV units I have seen have show full as 2/3 ish mainly because you are suppose to only will Propane tanks to 80%. There is a rule called the 80% filling rule. But if your propane value is really busted and showing 2/3's then haha, but one thing to note, the propane tanks can go quite a while at EMPTY before it is actually empty, but I also bet you have learned to guess and gauge manually. Also - I have had a valve and gauge changed once. It was 250$ CND... for the Valve + 30 minutes labor. The valve was stuck on tight I tell ya. Figured share that with you incase your valve ever got super busted. I hope you the units keeps purring for you to enjoy. 👍👍🙌🙌
