I’m glad that TWICE are expanding more into the western market but I just hope that they keep their style. Even though their concept isn’t exactly cute now, it’s still upbeat and fun (Scientist, Talk That Talk) and I think that’s what makes them TWICE. I hope they don’t lose that or go straight-up girlcrush or whatever just to appeal to western listeners who like edgy concepts
@mimininzurisana6925 probably one of the reasons why you think Korea is being passive with 3rd gen idols is because it's been quite some time since they had a comeback, bts are now in the middle of enlistment duties so no group comebacks from them for a while though their last comeback still did pretty good in korea (afaik they're doing solos now), blackpink's last comeback did pretty well in korea with pink venom peaking at #2 and bagging 7 wins while shut down peaked at #3 and bagged 10 wins, red velvet also had a good run with feel my rhythm peaking at #3 (though birthday didn't do as well as fmr, SM didn't really promote the comeback as much). there are still 3rd gen groups that are well loved and even some who are enjoying new found popularity there.

If you haven't checked out Seize the Light, I recommend it, although the official subs are a little clunky at times but that's JYPE subs for you. But in it JYP talks about recognizing that Twice had something that was missing in the American market and he felt confident aggressively entering the US with their Twicelights tour in 2019 and I think they always intended on being just as aggressive in 2020 and 2021, but the pandemic derailed that. And Mina's anxiety hit regarding the pressure of nailing all the changes to the concert performances and left the tour, and then Jeongyeon's surgeries the following year... so in terms of their strategy in the west, I feel like they kind of regrouped and tweaked a little and had to put the full press on hold for a couple years. But they killed it in the US tour in 2022, they renewed contracts, and I feel like what we're about to get from Twice is the US Strategy 2.0. And I'm ready for it. Let's go!
also i have no problem w the western promo bc konces have been acting unserious for a while & dont do shit for the girls (literally started complaining on the members bubble about missing One music show & they had to apologise 😑) so im happy theyre promoting more where the fans appreciate & ride for them more.
i was on twitter when the k-onces were acting bothered by twice missing the music show & instead opting for bb women in music and it felt so edgy for k-onces to complain when they themselves have failed to give any substantial music show wins to twice the last couple of cbs. i'm so glad twice has decided to broaden their horizons in the west more
Since Fancy, all twice songs have been missing the sparkle for me. I miss when twice songs felt like an event, and when the song had such a big build up and an amazing pay off. We can see that after fancy they started using different producers, like lindgren, in this song, which has made twice really suffer in the Korean market, but I guess not so much the American one. I miss the first 4 years of twice. Not so much the “cuter” concept, but the style and composition of the songs. But they sell so well now, and the members have more of an influence in the music, that I feel like it will never come back. Also, why are these songs so short! I feel as though making the song 3:30 instead of 3:00 would really be able to flesh out the song. TT supremacy always 🤍
We're the complete opposite 😭 I only became a hardcore stan during and after Fancy because I like the style of their songs more because it has a more refined, mature, and modern sound to it. I vibe with the Pre-Fancy Songs and they are absolutely iconic, but the Post-Fancy are the songs with the sparkle for me 😭 I agree with the songs being SOOOO damn short tho like they don't even have a "proper" bridge, and they could've had maybe a second verse or refrain that would've added atleast a few more seconds. Like Mina's part at the beginning of Set Me Free, I was preparing for a Fancy Jeongyeon-Momo verse where the song starts to pick up the pace but it went straight to the chorus which I dislike, it felt like the song was moving too fast.
@@jamesnishimura5623 YEEES I agree after Mina I was very shocked it went straight to the prechorus. And the pre chorus is literally a single line from sana and dahyun like ??? And I actually really enjoy the mature sound, I’m saying the overall structure it’s lacklustre in comparison to the earlier stuff. But twice will always be my ult and my favourite girls 🥲
Not even feel special? I agree with the songs being too short though, none of the bsides in this album even reach 3:00, and longer songs would have been nice. Still love the songs though, it's just i don't like how short their songs have gotten
Set Me Free, for me, isn't clicking as much as the previous Twice title tracks right now, but I have a feeling I'll be obsessed with it soon enough (it happened like that for me with Talk that Talk, where the song did not click with me until like a week later where I absolutely fell in love) Personally, I still prefer Moonlight Sunrise right now. Both The Feels and Moonlight Sunrise feel like a TWICE song while appealing to Western audiences and I hope they keep that up, since it never feels like they're sacrificing the TWICE style.
I was REALLY into kpop back when the 2nd gen groups were a thing. (SNSD 😭) and it has been so cool seeing how much kpop has grown in the west. I don’t understand why people wouldn’t want artists they love to gain more success and recognition but that’s just me. The photo card part made me laugh, honestly a video from you about kpop fan culture would be really interesting. (If you wanted to ofc)
I'm a 31 yr old US man with kids and I grew up strictly on rap music. But Twice plus the 4th gen kpop groups have me hooked. 😆😆 I also love Twice's grown up era, which is probably the best look for Western audiences.
I quite like how recent groups are approaching promotions in the west, especially since the Wonder Girls in the US didn't really pan out for JYP before... he sent them over there for a few years where nothing really happened, which meant that they didn't get a foothold in the west and didn't release anything in Korea for several years either so sort of stagnated. It felt like such a waste of a really good group. I like that most groups now are sticking with a combination of Korean and English releases.
As a hardcore once, I must admit Set Me Free sounds more like a bside off of their Formula of Love album, like F.I.L.A or something. It doesn't scream title track to me I guess I was expecting it to melt my brain on first listen like The Feels did but it's still a great song. Personally really happy to see them pursuing the western market actually. They dominated the Korean market upon debut, than rose to stardom in Japan, now appealing to the west makes sense imo, rather than immediately jumping into U.S promotions at debut like a lot of groups do now.
I agree with you on it sounding like city pop, it’s like a kpopified version of city pop. I personally really enjoyed this song, it has a more mature sound but still has some twice aspects to it. the styling for the mv was so good they all served. it may not be one of my favorite title tracks they’ve released but it’s definitely not the worst.
I’m surprised by how quickly I got used to the song, like on the second listen it felt like a song I’d been familiar with for a long time, which isn’t necessarily a good or a bad thing, just interesting. I like the song
Twice title tracks since Scientist have been slow growers to me but they do age like fine wine, their new singles are leaning more into the mature side which makes sense since they are all in their mid-20s now and the new sound they have is definitely what the western market will appreciate more (and the new potential fans from the asian market at that too). Now with Set Me Free, it's definitely a stronger track than Moonlight Sunrise (weirdly enough i did not like this until i started playing it again a whole month after) and I did like it at first listen, appreciate the fact that they released the english version for the title track this time because hot damn THAT VERSION HITS HARD. Now I'm lowkey hoping they'll release an english album (doesn't matter if it's a mini or a full album) because their english version songs are really good and I am ready to stream the shit out of that if it happens (for now I'll stream their new one lol).
while i have been really bored of the retro sound that a lot of groups have put out lately twice never disappoints and always brings their own style into the songs which makes me even forget that the song sounds retro. i feel as though this might be my favorite title track from them tbh! twice never disappoints 🤞
Hay que apoyarlas, ya son leyendas, han logrado mucho y estoy seguro que van a crecer más, yo veo más apoyo y orgullo por parte de ONCE latinoamericano que los propios coreano..
I *thought* I felt like this on the first listen, to the point that I nearly wrote a comment on another review earlier saying something similar to this, but did a full 180 from the second listen. There's a lot of music that's taken me a while to get into, that's become some of my favourites. But that being said, opinions about music are subjective, so it might just not be your thing, and I'm not gonna try and say it's wrong, nor am I saying I think you should listen to it repeatedly to see if it grows on you. Personally, I *love* Can't Stop Me, and the only Twice TT (unintentional reference lol) that isn't really my thing is Alcohol Free. I also really love a lot of Dua Lipa's stuff. It's refreshing to be able to discuss music we like, and dislike, without being petty about it TBH.
I agree. The song is a 6.5/10. And speaking of Dua Lipa, their song I Can’t Stop Me is like Dua Lipas “Physical”. But yeah this song was good tho. I want a banger like Feel Special. Fancy. Alcohol free. Those were GREAT.
Set me Free :- This song is really nice I can see their potential in this cb it was being DIFFERENT and i can appreciate it as it was way WAY better Moonlight sunrise thats just bad but SMF was better I like it and more that they are from the BIG 3 and when youre in a BIG 3 you see a cb get popular then stick to the concept but twice experimented and How did we like it WE LOVED IT espescially Feel special and FANCY they are perfection even ICSM and this stands somewhere there 8.6 - 9 /10
This TWICE album is probably their album in which the songs are my type of music. What disappoints me a bit though is there's not much Jeongyeon lines. I love Blame it on me the most because I have always loved rock and not to mention that Jeongyeon has a lot of lines in that song. But it seems that it's the bside track in this album that a lot of kpop stans like the least lol
I didn't expect than people many people will hate this song. Personally, when I heard it i love it and all the songs from the album are a bop. Maybe the rap part feels a little bit off from the main song. But in general is a great album and it's only my point of view.
i don’t really have an opinion about kpop acts promoting in the west because i’m asian and it doesn’t really affect me in any way if kpop becomes bigger over there i’m pretty indifferent it’s not something that i particularly want or i’m against so i really don’t understand what international, specifically western kpop stans have against western promotions, as far as i’m concerned the only thing i don’t like is that the music drops at an inconvenient time for me when the promo is directed towards the west but it’s not a real problem ! this comeback was fire, literally!
As an American I felt from first listen that this would be a good eng song and their eng version is just as good as the original and I LOVWEEEE MY CITYPOP and I'm 31 black gay af and tall af ok... Shhhh 🤫
When I was a teen I really wanted kpop to be more global, simply so I could have friends that liked kpop (it’s been 10 years and I still don’t have any irl kpop-liking friends). But as an adult I prefer kpop being niche. Mostly because I see so much racism and disrespect towards Koreans and Korean culture amongst fans these days. However, I’m fine with artists trying to break into the us market, because I still want them to be successful and earn money lol
one thing I love is even after they started to grow in US with fancy their fun side never changed like some groups did that horrible girlcrush to impress Western fans. And even in the coming years, i hope they keep their fun side keep experimenting a bit and ofc more dubmochaeng rap plss??
One small gripe i have about this comeback is that the teasers didnt really reflect in the actual release. The teasers showed them removing their makeup and like breaking stereotypes but apart from some of the lyrics in the song, we didnt really see any of that. Overall though the comeback was solid, for me b-sides weren't as good as the ones in Between 1&2. I do wish they performed the english version of Set Me Free on Fallon because it's pretty good. AND YES MINA IS TOTALLY WRECKING THIS COMEBACK. Mainly a Chaeyoung - Momo guy but damn, Mina and Tzuyu stole the show
What I've really been enjoying about this cb is sana and chewy. It's very refreshing to hear their vocals outside of the main vocalist. I feel they need to utilize them more!
Yeah wow I never realised I don't have a solid bias in twice. If I try I literally just start naming all the members. I first noticed Chaeyoung, and I absolutely love her still. At a push perhaps I would pick Jihyo. But it's impossible, honestly. I really have to stop myself from naming them all. Wow.
I bet JYP is literally smiling with his Meme face its always his Ambition since Day one of Wonder Girls back in 2008 or 9 that his Artist would be big in United States and that Neon Magenta colors on Empire State kinda proves it. I Didn't know any Artist have done that beside Twice. And the back door deals to be able to do that was probably high lvl and expensive. Republic Records PR pulled a strings in New York. I was like at awe when the Color Red White and Blue that Represents America changed go Twice Colors it feels like we been conquered by Twice lol and Im all for it 100% and they aint pulling punches either on Steaming Platforms cuz Set me free is the 1st song to play if you put kpop play list which probably go to Hot 100. And basically Twice having a Nationwide press tour. This will make JYP a Billionaire
The song and literally everything else was amazing 👏 but the only reason I give the song a 9/10 is because I needed to hear Sanas signature high pitch voice somewhere in the song like in talk that talk, tt, cheer up, what is love, etc she makes amazing choruses with nayeon and jihyo. Everytime she goes lower, I feel like there's something missing. But either way it was still such a bop I love it.
Kpop in general is not so popular in EU. But EU is just the another sleeping beast of the west. I'm realy happy that thay turned their heads towards the west. Maybe a big success in the US would open the eyes of European people too. Go go go Twice. We in EU didn't have the numbers yet, but we have the passion!
my fav track is actually set me free ENG ver which neverrr happens but i feel like the song sounds & flows better in eng ?? also i seem to have the unpopular opinion that set me free is actually the best song on the album…i didnt really like the bsides except wallflower 😕 probably bc i dont like edm or rock, i wish the tracks stayed more like moonlight sunrise miami bass rnb vibes thats my shit i think the compositions & melody on this album are basic & clunky at times which is disappointing to me bc moonlight sunrise i felt was a very well composed & structured song absolutely love the styling & promo this cb tho
JYPE has been known to play everything super safe which is why they probably didn't expand with Twice. They did so well domestically they probably didn't feel the need to risk it with a group with no English speakers. I guess the past US tour made them realize how strong their international market is and are now going for it.
yeah i didn’t love set me free as much as i love their other title tracks, however the b-sides are very good imo. wallflower, blame it on me and got the thrills are solid. i have to listen to them more to see their longevity, but atm i liked them
I'm a hardcore army that has a couple gg tracks inc twice on my playlists so take my opinion as you will.....but isn't it an obvious fact that TT are designed to lure people in. it is intentionally made acc to the trends in the market to interest newer audience. that's it's whole purpose, it isn't supposed to be representative of the album itself 🗿 as long as it reels in a new person into the artist and their album, then it's a job well done. it's actually the bsides, imo atleast, that need to reflect the artist's color. i feel if your bsides are good fuckin quality, the person reeled in by the tt will stay🤷🏻♀️ an english tt will atleast make sure those stubborn prejudiced ones will give the artists a listen....and well I've always thought it only takes one song to finding the rest so any start is a good start🤷🏻♀️ this is legit how other genres got more normalised too i still don't understand the uproar ngl
@Mimi ni nzuri sana yeah I've noticed this tendency in k-pop fans in general they love "concepts" rather than actual growth and experimentation in artists when they have a fave. it's sad cos it limits the artists to certain boxes only. it's okay to not like a certain comeback but to question their entire identity over new experimentation just reeks of crazy. kfans do love the familiarity..... anything outside their box/reach and they lash/question or move on.
I was busy seeing dreamcatcher in Chicago for my birthday so I didn’t have much time to listen to the album today and watch the MV more than once. They were both good though
I'm a huge once and I actually loved the song the only thing which underwhelmed me a bit was the rap I was expecting a longer rap (something similar to chaeyoung's rap in icon?) Other than that, this era is so exciting! Might be one of their best eras
I'm sad that they are getting away from the cuteness. I understand, not like Koreans or Japanese, westerners prefer maturity, but still I miss the essence of Twice.
I don't think Twice has an "essence", they've grown into a new mature concept and that now is their 'essence'. They used to make good cute concept music but their company made the smart decision to not keep them shackled to said concept.
It's a good song, but my main issue is that it's too short! I really feel like having either the verses or the prechorus being double the length would be great. Maybe it's just because I've been listening to XG lately I've been spoiled by their prechorus segments.
Omg I was so scared I was the only one thinking this way about Set Me Free 😮 i felt kinda... dissapointed with the song? Idk but it was just kind of....why this was choose as a title track? Yep that kind of feeling. Jihyo's look tho - MY LORD we go blessed 😍😍😍😍
I appreciate your take on this as western audience. As an asian, my initial thought was 'hmmm... this sounds like it was made for the west'. So far I've only like maybe 2 b-sides from Ready To Be unlike their previous albums. The Feels is still best Western-centric song. I get that Twice wants to experiment and venture into new genres but for me if you're gonna release a song that's in a foreign language then it has to be at least catchy.
It's pretty good. My biggest issue is that the Korean general public doesn't like change. My issue is not the song. Set Me Free is quite good. I saw the K-criticism and how the song didn't chart. They still want the Twice of old. It's annoying that artists, especially female artists, cannot grow and change.
Twice is reminding me a lot on trajecyory to Apink. Started with a cute concept (or innocent in the case of Apink) and now evolved into a mature concept. I love Set Me Free but i need Twice to ditch out the retro concept. It's over they and Fromis 9 are the only One making justice to the retro concept but enough please.
Bro they could do whatever concept they want. It’s not that bad. Twice is not a rookie group anymore and as they have stated before, they seem to want to try out new types of music. I think they are doing pretty good regardless.
@@Chuu_Vault must agree. But I believe they’ll be just fine since they have already achieved what they want as a group. As long as they make good music, I think that’s all it is gonna matter. Especially, again, since they have a strong fan base.
This doesn't relate to Twice, loved the song though but Moonlight Sunrise is my kind of song though :) but what you mentioned about "if kpop wants to grow as a genre, it's necessary to take the west into count with songs" and "united states is the biggest music market" which I completely agree with btw, but one group that really popped into my mind when talking about this topic is, Itzy. Itzy has had a rocky road with songs recently, because I think JYP doesn't know what big of an impact the united states has on music, their 2 songs "Sneakers" and "boys like you" charted well and were liked domestically but weren't liked internationally made people think that Itzy has flopped, which mind you they didn't. But I feel like if JYP is taking Twice into count with the west, they should also take Itzy too. Itzy hasn't flopped, their songs are good and just because a song did good only domestically isn't an issue but I feel like JYP needs to understand the impact that the west has. Loved this comeback though
I definitely understand why some fans don't want their idols to invest so much into western market. It's bcuz of the loss of their original musical touch. Like twice got this happy music style but when they go for USA they change it to a bit mature sort or more American pop style which tbh I don't like either. But the thing is, kpop can't remain inside the comfort zone of korean music for too long. Everyone's gotta evolve. I cannot bring same music expecting a lot from it. So u gotta expand and make something different even it's changing ur old identity.
Not sure I agree that Newjeans are bigger/ more of a household name than blackpink and twice...like twice is selling out stadiums and blackpink headling coachella but okkkkk

Twice is my ult groupe and I have to say I've been a little underwhelmed with this comeback. the song is still good and the album even better but the title track just seem soulless ? it lacks substance and personality and I think it's mainly due to Lindgreen producing it. They need to work with BEP again or an all new producer for the next comeback.
My thoughts exactly. BEP will most likely never produce a song for them again because of their group stayc, which is very disappointing, because they best twice songs are from them 😢
For me I think I need to listen to set me free a couple more times but for now, I don't particularly like it and I feel like moonlight sunrise was better. this is my personal opinion, but i think they are taking a huge inspiration from dua lipa. like moonlight sunrise was a sweetest pie dupe, and set me free, the bass, the violins, idk, they scream future nostalgia to me.
Yah, they don't have great English speakers for western market. I understand they was targeting Asian market first those times. Geselle of Aespa, Rose of BP menas a lot for western market. Interestingly once upon a time, SNSD had at least one wonderful English speaker. Secret number has 3 wonderful English speakers and that's very helpful for even non Western market. I guess you love some (80's) Japanese city pop.

also i have no problem w the western promo bc konces have been acting unserious for a while & dont do shit for the girls (literally started complaining on the members bubble about missing One music show & they had to apologise 😑) so im happy theyre promoting more where the fans appreciate & ride for them more.
i was on twitter when the k-onces were acting bothered by twice missing the music show & instead opting for bb women in music and it felt so edgy for k-onces to complain when they themselves have failed to give any substantial music show wins to twice the last couple of cbs. i'm so glad twice has decided to broaden their horizons in the west more
@@skzanarchist Agreed.
I feel like the only time twice missed was when they released
Exactly they never miss
Right!
Lol they missed me with Moonlight Sunrise. That song is horrible.
Y’all trippin. Moonlight sunrise and ESPECIALLY the feels are such great songs
Feel special was the sparkle, literally. I don't hate searching for diff producers but I get what you mean.
We're the complete opposite 😭
I only became a hardcore stan during and after Fancy because I like the style of their songs more because it has a more refined, mature, and modern sound to it. I vibe with the Pre-Fancy Songs and they are absolutely iconic, but the Post-Fancy are the songs with the sparkle for me 😭
I agree with the songs being SOOOO damn short tho
like they don't even have a "proper" bridge, and they could've had maybe a second verse or refrain that would've added atleast a few more seconds.
I guess they can't have similar songs because BEP is having STAYC 🤪😂 i love both tho. Stayc's songs are nice.
I personally LOVE Set Me Free. This album, talk that talk, and scientist has gotten me to officially stan twice!! Only took seven years hahaha
sana almost killed me istg HOW TF did she serve like that
Set Me Free, for me, isn't clicking as much as the previous Twice title tracks right now, but I have a feeling I'll be obsessed with it soon enough (it happened like that for me with Talk that Talk, where the song did not click with me until like a week later where I absolutely fell in love)
Personally, I still prefer Moonlight Sunrise right now.
I also love Twice's grown up era, which is probably the best look for Western audiences.
my fav comeback is Alcohol Free, it was so good...
I’m not the biggest listener of Twice, however this song really has a hold on me. I think personally this type of song is my favourite.
They're proving why they're living legends of kpop✨
As a hardcore once, I must admit Set Me Free sounds more like a bside off of their Formula of Love album, like F.I.L.A or something. It doesn't scream title track to me I guess I was expecting it to melt my brain on first listen like The Feels did but it's still a great song. Personally really happy to see them pursuing the western market actually. They dominated the Korean market upon debut, than rose to stardom in Japan, now appealing to the west makes sense imo, rather than immediately jumping into U.S promotions at debut like a lot of groups do now.
@Mimi ni nzuri sana wdym?
I feel the same
!!!!!! 🐱
Set Me Free sounds like a Magnum Opus with a massive MV - I get zero b-side energy. It couldn’t be less title track.
There are no bad choices in Twice but Mina definitely wrecks me every time.
i really love how twice’s concept continues to mature and grow with them
ironic how south korean onces COMPLETELY boycotted this comeback.
I personally loved this comeback. It feels so mature and cool and also kinda funky. But I like everything twice comes out w so 🤭
I’m surprised by how quickly I got used to the song, like on the second listen it felt like a song I’d been familiar with for a long time, which isn’t necessarily a good or a bad thing, just interesting. I like the song
can we just take a second to appreciate how he has such a lovely relationship w his sister ? if only my brother was a kpop stan-
the intro and the 777 likes already told me this video is gonna be GOOD! i almost felt bad to drop another like :'-)))
Just a random guy from the US here, I can confirm that I can't get enough City Pop.
Now I'm lowkey hoping they'll release an english album (doesn't matter if it's a mini or a full album) because their english version songs are really good and I am ready to stream the shit out of that if it happens (for now I'll stream their new one lol).
while i have been really bored of the retro sound that a lot of groups have put out lately twice never disappoints and always brings their own style into the songs which makes me even forget that the song sounds retro. i feel as though this might be my favorite title track from them tbh! twice never disappoints 🤞
i am now watching all your girl group-related videos bc i love kpop girl groups and your voice is very relaxing and i like what you have to say :D
Im surprised people dont like this song, i really like it
Agreed, this sounds pretty Twice to me, I like it!
Hay que apoyarlas, ya son leyendas, han logrado mucho y estoy seguro que van a crecer más, yo veo más apoyo y orgullo por parte de ONCE latinoamericano que los propios coreano..
Grítalo ❤
yes they all suit this concept sm!! would u ever consider making album unboxing content??
I love this song mudhhhh
Set set set me frreee
Jihyo ❤️ this time...
I like Sana deep voice specially Scientist
I just love this song
PERSONALLY speaking, I think that the song is a little bit lackluster. Like it felt like something dua lipa would have released.
I fw dua lipa so I don't mind that comparison
But dula peeps music is good💀
Es muy buena la rola
Set me Free :- This song is really nice I can see their potential in this cb it was being DIFFERENT and i can appreciate it as it was way WAY better Moonlight sunrise thats just bad but SMF was better I like it and more that they are from the BIG 3 and when youre in a BIG 3 you see a cb get popular then stick to the concept but twice experimented and How did we like it WE LOVED IT espescially Feel special and FANCY they are perfection even ICSM and this stands somewhere there 8.6 - 9 /10
I was never a fan of Twice. I have a few of their songs in my playlist. But I am loving their more mature concept ❤
I loved the song... and then the rap start... I didn't liked that part 🥲 and it hurts me 'cause the rest of the song is such a BOP for me
my fav track is actually set me free ENG ver which neverrr happens but i feel like the song sounds & flows better in eng ?? also i seem to have the unpopular opinion that set me free is actually the best song on the album…i didnt really like the bsides except wallflower 😕 probably bc i dont like edm or rock, i wish the tracks stayed more like moonlight sunrise miami bass rnb vibes thats my shit
i think the compositions & melody on this album are basic & clunky at times which is disappointing to me bc moonlight sunrise i felt was a very well composed & structured song
absolutely love the styling & promo this cb tho
JYPE has been known to play everything super safe which is why they probably didn't expand with Twice. They did so well domestically they probably didn't feel the need to risk it with a group with no English speakers. I guess the past US tour made them realize how strong their international market is and are now going for it.
After one watch I didn't like it but I'm sure it will grow up on me) Twice is great!
I liked it on first listen
Not to take away from Twice just thought I'd let a fellow hunnie know fifty fifty is now at 1.6m Spotify the blow up is on
FR they be killing it rn
yeah i didn’t love set me free as much as i love their other title tracks, however the b-sides are very good imo.
wallflower, blame it on me and got the thrills are solid. i have to listen to them more to see their longevity, but atm i liked them
The B-sides are better in my opinion. Got the Thrills, Wallflower, and Crazy Stupid Love are all catchy songs.
Wallflower a W
I have been saying that a lot lately but definitely agree. The album seemed to get better as it went on.
Imo i crazy stupid love is best song in the album
Might be one of their best eras
i saw some koreans commented that they got mad on jyp for releasing songs that target only japanese people 💀 and abandoned korean people
I like the song! I just think their concepts have become less interesting over time, but I still do hold twice near and dear to my heart
B sides go crazy
1st also love it
I appreciate your take on this as western audience.
@@ritsukaa6580 I know that but retro music is a concept and style although good can become stale very quickly.
@@Chuu_Vault must agree. But I believe they’ll be just fine since they have already achieved what they want as a group. As long as they make good music, I think that’s all it is gonna matter. Especially, again, since they have a strong fan base.
@mimininzurisana6925 You now what, you're right. I'm sorry if was insensitive
Thoughts on pixys comeback
Very good.
Let us know what photo cards you got!
Okay
I definitely understand why some fans don't want their idols to invest so much into western market. It's bcuz of the loss of their original musical touch. Like twice got this happy music style but when they go for USA they change it to a bit mature sort or more American pop style which tbh I don't like either. But the thing is, kpop can't remain inside the comfort zone of korean music for too long. Everyone's gotta evolve. I cannot bring same music expecting a lot from it. So u gotta expand and make something different even it's changing ur old identity.
Personally, I like their B side song ‘Wallflower’ more than ‘Set Me Free’. Anywho……. I’m still a fan and will continue to enjoy their music. ❤
omg the song just came out how fast do u work
Hi, are you going to review Pixy’s comeback? It’s incredible.
Probably wait to talk about that until end of march
Not sure I agree that Newjeans are bigger/ more of a household name than blackpink and twice...like twice is selling out stadiums and blackpink headling coachella but okkkkk
I believe NewJeans would very easily sell out a stadium rn in the U.S. you got random college campuses throwing NJ parties like that shit is popular here.
@@Taejiu😂U live In Which World??

Once Hybe Stop Doing Those payola for Newjeans..they Won't even be In Toe level of Blackpink
yuh
Twice is my ult groupe and I have to say I've been a little underwhelmed with this comeback. the song is still good and the album even better but the title track just seem soulless ? it lacks substance and personality and I think it's mainly due to Lindgreen producing it. They need to work with BEP again or an all new producer for the next comeback.
My thoughts exactly. BEP will most likely never produce a song for them again because of their group stayc, which is very disappointing, because they best twice songs are from them 😢
Nauur why do you keep saying NewJeans are a household name in the US. They are not LOL
Japan is bigger than the US when it comes for a market to music...kpop Groups head to the US after they think they have a solid base in Japan
For me I think I need to listen to set me free a couple more times but for now, I don't particularly like it and I feel like moonlight sunrise was better. Actually, I tend to dislike songs with the style of music these two songs have.. anyway looking forward to listening to the other bsides, I hope I at least like those lol
this is my personal opinion, but i think they are taking a huge inspiration from dua lipa. like moonlight sunrise was a sweetest pie dupe, and set me free, the bass, the violins, idk, they scream future nostalgia to me.
Everyone be like "Oh the rap is bad"
Wdym that rap has the most heavenly sounding background instrumental and that alone carried it 😤😤😤
IKR
I love the song! The only part I don't like is the rap section (suprise suprise)😂
U DIDNT LIKE MORE AND MORE!!???!?!?
My apologies
TWICE is more famous and household than NewJeans
Def not in the west right now.
I love the song but the RAP sorry but it has to go!!!
That rap was a bit underwhelming
everything was fine until i heard "even though i wouldn't consider them to be like super household name like BTS or NewJeans right now" buddy whaaaat.
we are comparing WHO to WHOM ????? what are my babyjeans doing in that line with hallyu monsters lmaoo
right now newjeans is extremely popular in the u.s. people that arent even kpop fans know of and listen to newjeans songs. obviously theyre not on the same level of popularity as bts but CURRENTLY theyre the second most trending (i guess you could say) group in u.s probably.
"Bts or newjeans " blackpink is literally there and they're still topping the charts
