Some good films here, maybe you should look into expanding your horizons a little? Classic Hollywood, Russian cinema of the 1910's, French New Wave, Japanese New Wave, Ozu, Antonioni, Pasolini, Von Trier, Dreyer, Bergman, Lynch etc. There's plenty more cinema out there to explore and love!
definitely! it's something I definitely want to try out and I'm actually ashamed to not know as many of those directors you listed as I'd like... but definitely going to expand my list - maybe in a year I can make another video lol
yeah maybe, when I made this list the film was still fresh in my mind. I was blown away by the CGI (and I had 3D glasses on for the first time lol) so that probably affects it. If I make another list I'd have to rewatch as a few people have said that. Thanks!
As a big Christopher Nolan fan, I really liked your picks, Oppenheimer, Inception, the Dark Knight, and Interstellar are among my favorite movies as well. And I have to respect you for including the Dark Knight Rises, such an underrated film. The Prestige is also great, don't know if you watched it or not. Top Gun Maverick and Dead Reckoning Part One are also incredible, this deserves so much more views, keep up the amazing work❤
thank you so much! yes I agree these films are amazing and Nolan is probably my favourite director also great profile photo, I think oppenheimer is the culmination of his life's work
@@danowulf A theater has just been newly opened in my city, and in order to celebrate the opening, they re-released a couple of films specifically in that theater in IMAX. I already booked tickets for Inception and Top Gun Maverick, and I'm heading to the theater to watch the Dark Knight tonight. I'm really happy they did this because I never got the chance to watch Inception and the Dark Knight when they first came out. It's truly going to be one of the greatest cinematic experiences in my life.
@@danowulfAll of Nolan's works are masterpieces. Although I do think Inception, Interstellar and the Dark Knight are still a bit better than Oppenheimer, there's no denying that Oppenheimer is the greatest film this year so far. Experienced it once in a regular screening, and another time in IMAX, simply amazing.
it's a french film about a young boy who is murdered by the police and riots break out across the country, it's really good and uses lots of continuous takes amazing film, would recommend
The only ones that are also in my top 50 are Scott Pilgrim vs the World, Prisoners, Zodiac, Inception, Interstellar, The Dark Knight, Parasite and No Country for Old Men. I love how different our lists can be without either of us being wrong

Nolan's films, The Matrix and Spirited Away are excellent. I don't know how they possibly _came up_ and _executed_ the atmosphere of The Matrix... it's so damn surreal and perfect. It's a mystery of ingenuity. I don't always agree with your picks but thanks for providing us a cool video. My favorite movies myself are _The Time Machine (2002)_ and _Mulholland Dr._ Miyazaki's are also terrific.
thanks! yes, I agree that the concept and execution of the matrix is amazing... and the fact that it can be taken to mean so many different things and still holds up in almost every way almost 25 years later is amazing. Yeah, not everyone will agree but I think that's the beauty of art - it's subjective. And I'm definitely going to check those out!
Yeah, it’s weird, I’d never consider myself a sci-if person but I guess this list would say otherwise! And i gotta admit, I’m a sucker for a good strange adventure/weird film. I do definitely want to try and get more kinds of films on this list by next year. Totally valid opinion, and thanks for watching!
personally think lots of modern films wouldn't be here if it weren't for directors such as Fritz Lang and Kurosawa. plus they still hold up as solid films today imo
Absolutely agree. Wouldn't have Italian westerns without The Searchers. Wouldn't have Star Wars without 2001. And then GODard is a world unto himself.@@danowulf
@@reneescala7526oh thank god, I thought you were saying they shouldn't be there 😅 couldn't agree more, great films inspire great films and need to be respected just as much
The fact that Avatar 2 is above Avatar in your list blows my mind, the second one had nothing to offer, just a copy of the first one :/ But I'm glad you had movies like Wall-E, Prisonners and True Grit, among my favorites too !
actually I think the reason it was above it was purely because I was in awe due to the advanced technology (Underwater IMAX) and I also saw it in 3D in the theatres which blew my mind so maybe a re watch might be in order lol. the visuals just blew me away thank you!
@@danowulf I agree the visuals were stunning, best CGI water ever produced, motion capture on point, environments full of life, but on a narrative point of view it's kind of flat, I indeed invite you to watch it again and compare every sequence to the first movie ! Too similar for it to be an accident
Oh i have to disagree with you there.. a thriller that doesn’t rely on jump scares, just great writing and amazing acting from everyone involved… the basement scene is genuinely chilling - had any other film had that scene it would have felt so différent! Fincher is a genius
very nice video. I will have to watch dome of those. thanks man. keep it up
thanks so much! yeah some of these are real masterpieces.
That list is certainly light on classics, I counted 4 pre-1970 movies, that's 8%.
yeah, I aim to get way more on that list by next year! starting with some Weimar work when I get the chance.
Best video I have ever seen on RUclips you are really underated
oh thank you so much!

Good list. I agree with the first Avatar, but what stood out to you about the second one? CGI was great but the story felt so dragged out

This is a great video. You know your film!
(But Interstellar ahead of Inception!?! You crayzeeeee dude)
thanks!
(but every film viewer everywhere would like to know your location)
I also prefer Interstellar over Inception, Inception is great, but Interstellar is just perfection
aha yes everything from the music to the cinematography to the story... and the scene where sees his children on video for the first time!
