- We made the Bozeman bandsaw mill run and we cut some lumber. This is the mill I bought at Princess Auto and we have had some difficulty with it but now it is running and I am learning how to cut lumber.
Thats ok, the guy that goes and buys his lumber doesn't get the satisfaction and fun you are having!
Have the same mill, use it for weekend warrior stuff, still learning also..... snow on the ground now, so will likely only do a few logs until the weather warms up....

I usually use the shorter dogs in that situation. And remember to unlock the slide locks to raise the mill head up before pulling it back. I forget to do that all the time LoL. Beautiful spot you have btw.
I am starting to develop a routine in my milling process. Doing things the same way each time helps prevent costly errors!
I have the same mill and I have had all kinds of accuracy issues with the scale that comes with the mill and cutting lumber. The marks don't seem to give me correctly dimensioned lumber or even close so currently tape measuring and marking each cut. Has yours worked out well or is it spotty as well?
For us the measurements have worked reasonably well. I haven’t learned how to optimize the logs yet so I’m cutting goofball sizes. But they are basically coming off the mill as we had planned/measured.
Two questions. What drove you to the decision to acquire the boseman vs other entry level sawmills and secondly how do u find the build and mechanical quality of the saw
I bought the Boseman because I trust Princess Auto the supplier. But the bigger reason for buying Boseman was that at the time I bought it there were very long waitlists to get most other brands. Woodmizer was almost a year long wait. I wanted to start milling right away. Princess Auto had this one in the store.
Build quality seems fine.
@@StaceyRobinsmith thanks so much. Appreciate the input.
Where are you located look like you have lots of trees
We are in the Fraser Canyon in BC. Beautiful Douglas Fir forests!
When did you buy the Bozeman mill
Last summer - I guess that means I’ve had it for about 18 months. I didn’t use it the first summer because we were evacuated or on evacuation alert most of the first summer due to wildfire risk.
I had a Bozeman returned it because it was going to be a year before I got a track extension
@@wilmamcdermott3065 I ordered and received my sawmill track extension within weeks of buying and setting up the mill. The Princess Auto in Coquitlam seems to know how to take care of business.
Had the same mill took it back because people lied to me at princess auto
I am curious as to what they lied about.
Sorry to hear this. The people at my local Princess Auto have typically gone above and beyond for me.
