"What do you think the biggest failure was?" The lack of research behind most of these entries. I mean, again, you list third party items as if they were made by Nintendo. The Power Glove, for example, was made by Mattel, not Nintendo. As for Rare, while Nintendo did at one point hold a 49% stake in the company, it was never a controlling share, which means they didn't own Rare outright. The Playstation didn't come from a collaboration to produce the N64, it was to produce a CD expansion to the SNES.
In addition to the CD information, nintendo ended up going with phillips to produce the cdi. That is why it has ....those zelda 'things' on it. Nintendo really shot themselves in the foot there.
Wait, so why was there a red Wii U gamepad, with an arrow pointing to the NFC reader and a circle around the home button? I swear, this channel has some of the clickbaitiest thumbnails. 10 Xbox Fails? Ok... so why is there an arrow pointing to the right control stick? (Guys, I think I figured out how they get their views.) 10 Facts You Didn’t Know About Your 2DS? Mmk.... oh... yea you guys are right, I had no clue my 2DS had a circle pad, and a “X” button. Real clever...
I know what the heck is that it is like the spoiled kids video showing a kid crying with a corvette in the background then they typed in Wrong phone or car
The only few reasons I can give it as why it failed is because the Wii U was expensive even for the base console that only has 8GB and most people thought of it as an accessory for the original Wii
Stopped watching on the first one. Nintendo never worked with Sony on the N64. That was the SNES CDROM. that’s what led to the birth of the PlayStation. Can’t believe you would miss such a well-known fact.
Also, wasn't it tentatively called the Nintendo Playstation? Then Nintendo didn't agree with Sony's licensing provisions, and for good reason. This video is way off the mark.
dude, you missed a bunch of epic titles for the Wii U. also the Wii U has some really cool games that were born on the Wii U like ''Super mario maker'' and ''Super Mario 3D world'' and it has really good HD graphics.
Holger Svärd ANIMAL CROSSING AMIIBO IS FUCKING GOOD ENOUGH. Why Do People Hate This Game? ITS A FUCKING SPINOFF, LIKE ANIMAL CROSSING ISN'T ALLOWED TO HAVE A NON-MAIN GAME.
Cutie & Friends Adventures There is almost nothing to do in the board game, and you have to play the board game to unlock new minigames. Amiibo is also required for everything. (I think) Usually you scan amiibos for extra content in the games, but here it could have been a button instead. If you are a fan of the normal animal crossing games, then amiibo festival will likely disappoint you.
I came here specifically to make fun of the thumbnail. What in the hell, if I may ask, is up with that thumbnail? Alright, fine, you have zero integrity so put circles and arrows in your thumbnail because apparently it makes eight-year-olds more likely to watch the video. Whatever. Why are they placed where they are, though? The NFC reader and the Home button. What? The Wii U may not have done well, but amiibo have made Nintendo a ton of money. The NFC reader is one aspect of the Wii U hardware that is universally recognized as DEFINITELY NOT A FAILURE. Why are you pointing an arrow at it? Do the precursors to amiibo, the Pokemon Rumble World NFC figures, make this list? I can't imagine why they would, as while they didn't before huge or anything, I don't think I would call them a failure that Nintendo wants people to forget. The circle, meanwhile, is around the Home button. Again, what? What is that even supposed to mean? After thinking about it while writing this comment, the only thing even slightly related that I can think of is that the Wii U's firmware ran pretty slowly at launch. It would be a REAL stretch to point accusingly at the Home button to demonstrate this point, though. You know there's footage and screenshots of the Wii U "please wait" screen, right? I guess you wanted to highlight the Wii U and the fact that people thought the Gamepad was a Wii accessory in this video, and that's why the thumbnail is nothing but the Gamepad... but if you can photoshop it to make it red, you can also photoshop the "please wait" screen onto it.
These comments are funny. When the Wii U was the current Nintendo console, everyone hated on the Wii U. Now that the Wii U is "retro," everyone loves the Wii. I loved my Wii U since the day I got it (Day 1 of the Zelda edition, which was 10 months after the Wii U came out), and I still love it to this day, so much so I have yet to get a Switch
I personally think that the Wii U is actually really good. It had other good amount of games such as Super Mario Maker, DKC Tropical Freeze, and The Legend of Zelda remakes. Not just that, but the Eshop also provided a ton of downloadable games from their previous consoles that had the best games, except the DS games, which mainly helped a lot for those who can't find it in stores anymore. And yeah, even though the gamepad was ehh, I didn't mind using it as a remote or just to use as a quick menu guide since I played with the pro controller mostly. In my opinion, I'd say the Wii U was the ultimate multi console to showcase most of their systems/games before the Switch came out.
has you ever browsed the net on the gamepad?? its def better than any video game console browsers to date, the pro controllers have better battery life than xbox or sony controllers, and the various amount of controllers actually helps the player by providing more options
dude this is thegamer, were you expecting facts? Like that nintendo was developing the n64 with sony? Apperently nintendo "loned" philips the rights to mario and zelda cuz thats how it went done. The n64 dd failure whas the thing that made nintendo focus on the gamecube, it was not the fact that next gen was coming and the competition was releasing new harware it was the n64 dd. power glove not even made or released by nintendo is a fail they want you to forget.
Yeah i know, thats why i didnt include it as another wrong fail sinse you already said it. And i agree with your original post aswell if that wasnt clear.
naknapastorn I think the word you were looking for was "loaned." The powerglove may not have been manufactured by Nintendo, but it was definately licensed by Nintendo. It was still a failure for Nintendo because they paid Mattel to develop and produce it. Maybe with your poor spelling and poor fact checking you should work for thegamer.
It's not a bad console at all. Just poorly marketed so it never got the attention it deserved. The switch took everything learned from Wii U and made it infinitely better.
I wouldn't call the Wii U a bad console, I fully enjoy playing it, and there are games on it I genuinely love, occasionally thanks to the way the Wii U works itself. I also adore miiverse, and am sad it's closing. I'll agree Nintendo made many mistakes with the console, there aren't many games worth it on there, and the Switch seems to be mostly everything the Wii U should've been, but I don't think it itself was a mistake. The main problem, it could've been executed better.
@Iron Sword GAMES And what a fantastic game that was. So good, Nintendo gave it us again on the Switch. I can understand Nintendo's idea to port some of their better Wii U games to the Switch, they spent a lot of time, money, and effort into making them, only to have them released on a console that was selling poorly. But by ports, enhanced ports, and very similar sequels, (you know which three games I'm talking about) they can have another run, and another chance on a successful console. And, the many people who never bothered with the Wii U but got a Switch, get to play these games. Not to mention improving the Switch's weak library.
Man, I’ve bought the Wii U, I really liked it, but I can’t deny, their marketing and launching game library were so terrible that they sent the Video Game down to the to “bottom of the well”, even having great games, it wouldn’t mean anything now, thanks God they’ve hit the Bullseye with the Switch and next year we’ll receive the Metroid Prime 4, can’t go much better than this lol ;-)
Honestly I hate all the hate train hype against the Wii U. It really is a great console. Very few consoles these days can emulate the entirety of a previous console and still have great functionality. While yes the marketing was terrible and they should have used a completely different name to distinguish it was a new console, the console itself was actually very good. I still have a Wii U and I'm going to send it to Nintendo to get it fixed. The only thing that bothers me about Nintendo is that most of their consoles are STILL living in the past. Nobody knows why they still don't have a console with at least a 500GB hard drive. Even their "New" Nintendo Switch doesn't have enough space to hold more than a game or two without an SD card. Why? Why the hell is Nintendo putting out consoles with such tiny hard drives? The Wii, Wii U, and the Nintendo Switch all have hard drives that are way too small to be functional. 32GB on a gaming console in today's age of games being around 50GB? Really Nintendo? Really? Clearly stupidity on the Nintendo development team.
I know, right? I love my Wii U. Although I recently obtained it in 2018, I still have fun with ZombiU and Super Mario 3D World. I am currently waiting for a copy of Super Mario Maker. I have had a bunch of fun with ZombiU with my friend in multiplayer, oh man, the good times that we had...
_b I respect your opinion, but I have a few thoughts to share on the new mechanics you call "useless and uncomfortable". Breath of the Wild, or Splatoon, are the 2 games that instantly pop into my mind when thinking of good gyroscope aiming, which I NEED because of a broken thumb, (not played any others with the feature, only had my Wii-U since October). Quite a few games allow one player on the gamepad and one on TV to avoid split screen, such as the two Wii-U CoDs (Bo2 and Ghosts) embraced the idea of one screen per player, with traditional split screen as an option. Plus, on the (admittedly graphically downgraded) Assassins Creed port and other games I forgot, the gamepad was a much larger map than the "corner compass map". The HD Zelda remakes had your inventory on the pad, making it quicker and easier to switch items than pausing, and there are more examples I'm forgetting. For those who aren't as well acquainted with Nintendo's 'this is the future' thinking, many of these features may seem useless, cumbersome, and possibly even intrusive on "the way the game was meant to be played", but if you adapt to it then other platforms just seem 'feature nerfed'.
Alright. We cannot expect "The Gamer" to be gamers or even research games history. But lets go over a few flubs in this video 1) The Nintendo PlayStation is what the console Nintendo and sony were working on. Nintendo did NOT throw away disks in flavor of carts, in fact what happened was Sony was asking too much for each game royalty and Nintendo dropped them (without telling them) and started working with Phillips to make a disk based system. When that fell though (reasons were undocumented as far as i know) Nintendo was blacklisted by all disk manufacturers forcing them to resort to carts.... They worked around this blacklist by creating the game cube which used a proprietary disk format, which they continued to do with every system after. 2) Because of contractual reasons, Philips got to use Nintendo properties when they split when making the disk based N64 system. Unfortunately Philips sucked at game development. 3) Nintendo did not sell Rare! They never OWNED rare. They owned 40-49% of rares STOCKS, which made them pretty much majority stake holders. Microsoft bought 51% of the shares which made them majority shareholders too. Nintendo just sold them the leftover stock which gave them 100% stock ownership essentially making them the owners of Rare. The only way Nintendo could keep Rare on as a Nintendo exclusive would be to have bought the outstanding shares themselves. But Nintendo wanted Rare to remain 3rd party to them. And In my opinion, Nintendo made the right choice. 4) THE POWER GLOVE WAS MATTEL 5) Mario Party 10 was not one of the good games, there were more good games to choose from and you chose the least interesting lowest rated Nintendo IP of the bunch. 6) Wiimotes were a HIT, the accessories were just 3rd party manufacturers trying to get some money due to how much of a hit it was. Only the Wii Zapper (which was actually a good idea, just never caught on) and the steering wheel (which was a hit) were official. Hardly a Nintendo failure. 7) The wii U was great!
@@WYM1976 he knows that, he's just talking about the bad sales, not that the console sucked, he didn't say it was bad or anything, it's just the sales.
The information is incorrect. Nintendo teamed up with Sony to make an add on for the SNES but they realised they wouldn't make any money from the software so Nintendo stoped making it with Sony and partnered with Phillips (It was never realised). Sony was embarassed and then made Play Station. Do some research.
Yes! Nintendo also dumped Philips, but Philips already had short lived rights to use Nintendo characters, which spawned the awful Mario and Zelda games on CDi. Nintendo wasn't just "convinced" to let them use the characters, Philips was LEGALLY allowed to use them and there was NOTHING Nintendo could do about it.
Indeed. But I think their biggest mistake was to ghost Sony and then humiliate them at the year’s E3. If they had just sent their lawyers to renegotiate the deal with Sony it probably wouldn’t have turned out this badly for them.
The Wii U is my favorite Console. The console has a built-in Wii and a pretty good home screen. Besides, the title selection is far from bad: Pikmin 3 Super Mario Maker Super Mario 3D World Captain Toad Yoshi's Woolly World Splatoon Mario Kart 8 Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Paper Mario Color Splash DKC: Tropical Freeze Nintendo Land Hyrule Warriors Lego City Undercover New Super Mario Bros. U Pokkèn Game & Wario Mario & Sonic TLoZ: Wind Waker HD (Remake) TLoZ: Twilight Princess (Remake) Mario Party 10 Bayonetta 2 Rayman Legends Breath of the Wild To be continued -> Buy a PS4 if you want to play Triple A title.
Ported isn't entirely accurate - it was originally designed as a Wii U game, but was in development so long that by the time it was finished the Switch was out so it was released on both platforms - you could really argue that the Switch version was the port. A similar thing happened with Twilight Princess - that was intended as a GameCube title, but was so long in development that it ended up being released both for the Wii and the GC. I also think that despite it's poor sales, the Wii U was a very significant machine for Nintendo - even if only considered as a test bed for a lot of the ideas that eventually made the Switch what it is.
I so totally agree with that. And I still love my Wii U. But the Switch is far more better. Been attached to my Switch ever since getting one for Christmas.
10. Wrong. The Nintendo Playstation died because a dispute between the two. Sony wanted to be in charge of any and all games made for the CD games, even if they are Nintendo properties. Nintendo said to piss off, and they ended it. 9. So they want you to forget the rewards program that they still are using? Ooookaaaaaay.... 8. Nintendo never really owned Rare. They just owned a majority of their stocks, and when they didn't renew them, Microsoft jumped at the opportunity. 7. Fair point though the game was named Hotel Mario, not Mario Hotel. Minor nitpick though. 6. Ehh, they just kinda laugh at it but respect the Virtual Boy for what they learned from it. 5. It had a rocky start, and while it eventually gained some traction, it happened too little, too late. Nintendo however does not want to forget it, as it offered what can be considered the prototype to the Switch's main draw: Off-TV play 4. Hahaha no. Also most of what you show here isn't even Nintendo's doing and therefore not something they have any reason to regret. 3. Ehh, yeah I suppose. 2. Yeah I can agree with this. A for effort, but that's all. I don't think they even reference this anymore. 1. Ehh, it was hit-or-miss. Games like Brawl really barely worked, but Mario Kart and Monster Hunter were damn near flawless. Case-by-case basis, really. Plus to be fair on the shutoff, it wasn't because Wii online was doomed. (It affected DS as well) It was because Nintendo did not own the servers it used; Gamespy did. The contract was ending, and Nintendo opted not to renew it since the Wii U and 3DS were already out, this time run by their own servers.
I have some issues with the lack of decent controllers, but that Game Pad made Pikmin 3 one of the best games I've ever played. I don't hate the Wii U at all!
I honestly think the Wii U wasn’t to much of a failure I currently own one and it’s not bad at all and I’m not sad about using different controllers instead of the game pad.
The Overwatch Channel - All Things Overwatch The WiiU was a failure. Nintendo acknowledged it. That doesn’t mean it wasn’t a good console. Nintendo is known for gimmicks in consoles. The original Wii’s gimmick worked, sadly the WiiU was marketed wrong and the gimmick didn’t catch on.
Had to dislike for the obvious misinformation herein: The Sony/Philips entries are both due to Nintendo looking to create a CD add-on for the SNES. Initially, Nintendo went with Sony, and a prototype SNES CD was created (and still exists in the wild). However, Sony wanted royalties for every copy of a game sold, and Nintendo quietly approached Philips instead, only to make it public AFTER a big Sony announcement of the partnership. The Philips deal would also ultimately fall through, giving Nintendo the dubious distinction of creating two competitors through their blunders. As part of the deal with Philips, Nintendo allowed them to make a few titles using their IPs, paving the way for the memetastic CD-i Legend of Zelda titles and Mario's Hotel.
I don’t understand why all “Nintendo Fails” videos all have the Wii U in it. I have a Wii U and I like it fine, the graphics are amazing and I personally like the tablet controller. Especially on Mario Kart and Splatoon, if Nintendo didn’t make the Wii U how would we have splatoon? Mario Party 10? It’s a shame that the advertising was terrible and full of screaming kids. So all you Switch users who say they hate the Wii U, keep it to yourself I don’t have the Switch yet but for now I love the Wii U.
I have both and I absolutely loved the Wii-U. Also, without it, Nintendo wouldn’t have made some of the best games to come out in years. The tablet controller was so comfortable for my big hands. It was an awesome system. I too am so sick of people hating on it. I have a Switch also and while I love it, it’s not like is that much better.
who else agrees with that playing it safe as sony did with the ps4 only adding a blue light on the back of the controller (only god knows why they did that) and a little touch sensitive button on the front is not as exciting as making a controller that is a touch sensitive screen aswell :)Nintendo will allways be the best course they dare to try new things thats why they are so awesome :)
Yes it is a great console, but Switch is actually A LOT WORSE than the Wii U. Wii U is the 2nd best Nintendo console besides the GameCube,Switch is 2nd worst besides the Virtual Boy.
Ugh.... #1 - Wrong. The Super Nintendo "PlayStation" was basically an upgrade to the Super Nintendo like how the Nintendo DD was an upgrade for the Nintendo 64 and the Sega CD was an upgrade for the Genesis. Christ, get your facts straight... #2 - Yep... though I never used it. #3 - Nintendo didn't sell Rare, rather they hadn't acquired the company to begin with. However, Nintendo DID stop funding them, so Rare had to find some buyers (which means Nintendo COULD have bought them right then and there). Fun (and more horrifying) fact: Activision was going to buy Rare, but bailed at the last second. #4 - Remember #1? You're welcome. #5 - The controller wasn't that bad... not saying it was a masterpiece, though. Spot on with everything else. #6 - I wouldn't say the console was a massive failure. Yeah, I didn't buy one, but other than the marketing being crap and the gimicky showoffs, the other arguments... it's called asymmetrical gameplay. #7 - Oh god. I didn't want to remember this... but yeah, ugh.... #8 - Nothing to really say. Pretty much covered everything. #9 - *Insert "IT'S SO BAD!" quote here* #10 - Yep... though they are STILL living in the past.
While i agree the Wii U was a fun console, it was a fail with only 13.56 million sold in its 5 year lifetime, the Nintendo Switch has already beaten its lifetime sales and it hasn't even been a year since its been released. how ever i think if the Wii U had a different name more people would have bought it.
seeing as their sales were really poor says that you have the only opinion and what they said about it was correct since a lot of people didn't enjoy it.
Jimmy MacPow just for example the Sony and Nintendo deal, if Nintendo agreed Sony would’ve owned Mario Zelda and Pokémon etc. It was never about the discs, it was also the fact that they couldn’t agree on who would own the console, it was a good idea to step out
I think the WiiU was really underrated. It was the perfect transition between the Wii and the Switch. Splatoon and Yoshi's Woolly World were the best games for it.
#10 is wrong. Sony was gonna make an add on for the SNES, but Nintendo betrayed them by partnering with Phillips. Sony then made the PlayStation to compete with Nintendo. Also it’s hotel Mario not Mario hotel.
Actually it was a CD/Cartridge SNES not an N64 and Nintendo did kinda accept the disks (although they preferred cartridges) but went their own ways as Sony wanted to licence all the CD based games but they didn’t agree.
While theres no reason to call it a stupid console since it had quite a lot of qualities, we cant ignore tthe fact that its marketing was aweful and it sold really poorly, which is quite a shame... :/ also, I invite you to report TheGamer. not because he said the wiiu was bad, but because of his lack of research, aweful clickbaiting and poor content.
Sadly, it was. I love the console, but Nintendo really messed up. Horrible advertising, poor third-party line up, and a poor selection of first party games. In fact, it was so bad, it's the poorest selling home Console for Nintendo and it lowered Nintendo's stock. They even had to replace it with the Switch and DISCONTINUED the console before the Switch was even released. And a majority of Wii U games have been ported to the Switch(BotW, MK8) or have 3DS counterparts(Smash, Mario Maker).
@Ryan Fernandes Yes. All of those games were great. 3D World is one of my favorite Mario games. The main problem to why they failed was because Nintendo made a really poor choice of making 3DS versions of Smash, Hyrule Warriors, and Mario Maker. And I guess Mario 3D Land is sort of a precursor to 3D World. So if you had a 3DS, there was no reason to get a Wii U if you could play the great games on a cheaper system. Even other games like Breath of the Wild, Donkey Kong Country, and Mario Kart 8 got Switch ports. Really the only good console exclusive worth getting right now is Nintendo Land, and that's a launch title.
If Nintendo wants us to forget the Virtual Boy, then why do they keep reminding us it existed? A trophy in Smash Bros, abadge in Nintendo Badge Arcade...you'd THINK they'd want to bury the Virtual Boy just like everything else, but that's not what they seem to be doing.
Agreed meme. It was built solid. Nice tech aspects. I am a Nintendo freak so my opinion... Nintendo have always been about quality and gameplay over their counterparts wanting to cater to all media entertainment. Love the GameCube still. N64 is childhood memories and still plugged into a old school flatscreen 📺
You have not done your research on the creation of the playstation. Please do your due diligence and research before you post vids, it makes me question the accuracy of your channel. The partnership between Sony and Nintendo was to create a CD add on for the SNES. There are videos with published prototypes showing the playstation logo stamped on what looked like a SNES with a CD add-on. The deal fell thru due to Nintendo deciding to do a 180 and work with Phillips instead which was a suprise and shock to Sony so the add-on died but Sony decided to take the concept and turn it into a full console under the Playstation brand.
Not only that, the new deal with Phillips is also how they got the rights to produce Nintendo games on their CDI console when that deal fell through as well. No one at Phillips convinced Nintendo of anything, it was a technicality in an agreement that Nintendo likely didn't consider the full implications of at the time of signing.
Johnathan Hernandez Also, Sony tried to screw over Nintendo, which is why the deal fell apart in the first place. Once Nintendo realized how Sony tried to rob them, they cancelled the idea of the PlayStation Nintendo
I loved the Wii U. It's revolutionary gamepad helped expand what you can do in a video game. It had awesome games like Mario Kart 8, Nintendo Land and Super Smash Bros as well as The Legend Of Zelda Twilight Princess HD and Wind Waker HD. It basically helped showcase the first wave of Nintendo Amiibo's that came out. Even though it may have not sold as much units as say the GameCube or the Nintendo 3DS, in my eyes the Wii U was a very cool console.
As a owner of a Wii U myself The console is fine. But I absolutely hate the tablet controller. It's way too big and gripping it for an extended period of time makes my fingers hurt. M
I'm more of a Wii controller fan than a Wii U game pad fan (probably because I spent my whole time as a kid using the Mario Kart Wii wheel than a game pad).
I have a Wii u the joy stick broke fast I do not like the Wii u it was nice to play Mario 3D world and I liked super Mario maker but then the switch came out and I cant stop playing but the we is amazing not the Wii u the normal Wii but I love the Nes.
Not everything is about money, if anything the Wii U saved the gamer money instead spending it. The various controllers the wii u supported were from previous systems. not to mention, the loads of hacks, mods and nifty tricks you could do. The wii u could play wii u , wii, gamecube, NES, SNES, genesis, CPS1, CPS2, MAME, and tons of other options. @thegamer ... have you internet browsed with that "bulky" game pad? It's the most convenient method of surfing the web, and acts like a firestick with streaming sources.
TheSonTendo Exactly! You can even watch videos on the TV while you browse on the gamepad! You can also speed up the video by holding right bumper! (While the video is on the gamepad screen) And The Nintendo Switch doesn't even have a Browser at all! it doesn't even have RUclips!
Agreed this guy in the video doesn't know what he is talking about yea it was a fail but still a great console and it is not the worst console like he says it is
I actually thing the "Waste of plastic" controllers are actually useful since I could try play (for example) MKW with my oversized hands which wouldn't work well with the wii remote, but having a much larger remote that feels more comfortable and easy to hold is more of a useful thing than a novelty but at that point your probably better off getting a gamecube controller rather than a one-game pile of plastic
U wanna know wats the worst Mario party ever? Well of course it's Mario party 64 cuz the N64 sucks, also Mario party 1, 2, 3 i think those are for the Gamecube and it also sucks, u wanna know wats the best Mario party ever? Well mario party DS of course its da best
actualy, the virtual boy was the worst selling nintendo console... sold less than 800k units and it was discontinued not even a year later. The Wii U sold almost 14 million units and had a 4 years life span, so ya, while it was a commercial failure, it wasn't the worst selling nintendo console. numbers don't lie indeed.
Esmeralda Diaz if the problem is a lack of games, then i find it very odd that the solution would be to buy a dead console that won't get any new games ever and didn't have an all that impressive lineup in the first place. But to each their own I suppose.
I was watching this on my Wii U •-•. I FRICKIN' LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO (**spongebob voice** 2000 years later) OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE MY WII U!!!
PopularMods 1 and a half years ago and she is the left of my life in a relationship and she has to the point where she was a little girl in a relationship
I know it's not the most popular opinion, but I kind of liked how bulky the Wii u was. Iit was molded to fit your hands, unlike the switch, and it made me feel like I had more control. The buttons fell at more comfortable places and fast paced games felt natural.
"What do you think the biggest failure was?"
The lack of research behind most of these entries.
Thanks for taking time to sharing some corrections. :)
TheGamer this channel is retarded
evknucklehead finally someone else agrees with me
In addition to the CD information, nintendo ended up going with phillips to produce the cdi. That is why it has ....those zelda 'things' on it. Nintendo really shot themselves in the foot there.
expertly stated
No their biggest mistake was closing miiverse
Devonte Ramsey YES!! I LOVED MIIVERSE😭😭😭
Devonte Ramsey no it's nintendo switch
Yes MiiVerse was so good
Miiverse was f**king lit
R.I.P. Miiverse
you will definitely be missed by millions of people like me.
I don’t really think the wii U is that bad some really good titles are on it... like super Mario 3D world
Also the normal wii is there... so apparently Nintendo consoles with motion controls are bad
JustANintendoFanboy 666
This channel has always just been a pile of shit
In my opinion, Wii U was way too underrated.
it was a cool console
It was amazing but no animal crossing sadly
The only few reasons I can give it as why it failed is because the Wii U was expensive even for the base console that only has 8GB and most people thought of it as an accessory for the original Wii
OMG YESSSSS IT WAS MU CHILD HOOOOD
Exactly.
Can you stop putting arrows in the thumbnail please
NEVER! ヽ༼ ಠ益ಠ ༽ノ
can you stop putting red circles in the thumbnail please
TheGamer can you at least put them around things that make sense? like not the home button and the NFC touchpad?
Yes, please.
TheGamer XD
Stopped watching on the first one. Nintendo never worked with Sony on the N64. That was the SNES CDROM. that’s what led to the birth of the PlayStation. Can’t believe you would miss such a well-known fact.
Also, wasn't it tentatively called the Nintendo Playstation? Then Nintendo didn't agree with Sony's licensing provisions, and for good reason. This video is way off the mark.
I stopped the video with his opening statement. Nintendo wanted discs thats why they teamed up with Sony. What a turd. No credibility
dude, you missed a bunch of epic titles for the Wii U. also the Wii U has some really cool games that were born on the Wii U like ''Super mario maker'' and ''Super Mario 3D world'' and it has really good HD graphics.
True
Don't forget Splatoon
Don't forget Lego city undercover and Wii party u
Ture
Titanium Videos 103 3D World is just a sequel to super Mario 3D land, so it didn't born on the wii u
I don't care what you say about the wii ui still love mine
A Random Potato i agree
Same
Ok good
It has the best virtual console
To be honest the switch is just the Wii U but you could take of the controllers
i have a wii u and i love it
I do to
And eyyyy wana play some MK8?
* a random person overheard your conversation * * has a wii u * * runs over * hell yeah i wanna play some mario kart 8
I love mine
Same have any of you can played Yoshis wooly world
Same
Their biggest mistake was making animal crossing amiibo festival instead of a real animal crossing on the wii u.
Holger Svärd and obviously the lack of galaxy or sunshine
Maybe they were saving it for the Switch? I wouldn't blame them since it works better for it due to the portability.
Thanks for giving my comment a heart! 😺
(I think)
Usually you scan amiibos for extra content in the games, but here it could have been a button instead.
The home button represents the fact that the game pad is not portable.
It wasn't meant to be portable? and the Switch has a "home" button too. I guess it's not portable either? huh.
ChesuMori yeah!
Good point coffe115
tldr
Wii U flopped big time.
It's a console. I never hated on it
I've liked it since I saw it in the 2011 direct
Yes because it’s good and a emulation machine very decent
People didn’t really hate on it and I think most people who had it liked it not cuz it’s retro now but cuz it was good.
I hate that almost no one liked it at first...hopefully Nintendo goes back to it and adds crossplay to Nintendo Switch to reward people who have it...
Werty Yuy that’s why I still use my wii U over my Xbox one X and PS4 pro for the internet purpose plus my millions of games on the console alone
Their biggest fail there was poor marketing.
So the home button was a fail???
I like to eat toast
So I will eat you now
RazerHITBoy 1268 but im just an innocent toast :'(
Sam la toast That damn home button it ruined my life
No, that was a Revolution from the Wii (not the Wii U).
You betcha! ;)
The wii controller was NOT a failure! It was one of the reasons why the wii got so successful!
dude this is thegamer, were you expecting facts? Like that nintendo was developing the n64 with sony? Apperently nintendo "loned" philips the rights to mario and zelda cuz thats how it went done. The n64 dd failure whas the thing that made nintendo focus on the gamecube, it was not the fact that next gen was coming and the competition was releasing new harware it was the n64 dd. power glove not even made or released by nintendo is a fail they want you to forget.
I was talking about the wii dipshit
Yeah i know, thats why i didnt include it as another wrong fail sinse you already said it. And i agree with your original post aswell if that wasnt clear.
Oh, ok, Sorry about calling you a dipshit
naknapastorn I think the word you were looking for was "loaned." The powerglove may not have been manufactured by Nintendo, but it was definately licensed by Nintendo. It was still a failure for Nintendo because they paid Mattel to develop and produce it. Maybe with your poor spelling and poor fact checking you should work for thegamer.
Why does everyone hate on Wii U? To be honest the switch is just Wii U but you can take of the controller.
Maher & Ibrahim's Avengers Kid alert

memetime404 Your first reply
I actually liked the Wii U I begged my parents for it.
I got the wii u for christmas a few years ago. It is not even bad!
same
It's not a bad console at all. Just poorly marketed so it never got the attention it deserved. The switch took everything learned from Wii U and made it infinitely better.
TheGamer I know i really want the switch
Thanks for the attention guys!
George Marionerd to
George Marionerd and also THAT IS THE CONSOLE WHO HOMED MK8
Danilo Mazur how do you know metroid prime is next year
Honestly I hate all the hate train hype against the Wii U.
Really?
Clearly stupidity on the Nintendo development team.
lets all be glad that the micro sd cards weren't expensive as hell and the main console barely came with any storage
looking at you, ps vita.
Botw for ex. Is ~7gb
I've a wii u, and i think its new mechanics felt useless and uncomfortable; and "offering new mechanics and stuff" is what nintendo is good at
_b
I respect your opinion, but I have a few thoughts to share on the new mechanics you call "useless and uncomfortable".
I have a wii U
And I love it more than any other console.
Edit: 100 likes this is the most I ever got!!
What about the Switch? The Switch is better...
I have a Wii u and I think it's really good
WII U (Bang Bang) WII U
Lol same
Fireflame productions I love my Wii U
Wii U was great

The Wii U was NOT Great... It Was awesome xD

I feel bad one I see hate cause I love it
Ha!
DJ Gold me to

Alright. We cannot expect "The Gamer" to be gamers or even research games history. But lets go over a few flubs in this video
1) The Nintendo PlayStation is what the console Nintendo and sony were working on.
4) THE POWER GLOVE WAS MATTEL
5) Mario Party 10 was not one of the good games, there were more good games to choose from and you chose the least interesting lowest rated Nintendo IP of the bunch.
On your 7th point, the WII U IS GREAT, still play it, and ain't even bought a switch.
@@WYM1976 he knows that, he's just talking about the bad sales, not that the console sucked, he didn't say it was bad or anything, it's just the sales.
- they get to the wii u and call it a failure -
me: *has a wii u in 2020 and loves it* ;-;
*You're not the only one*
Seriously, The wii u is still a fun console.
@@michaelmai6514 YES!!!
It's a frustrating but fantastic emulation machine.
Sadly mine broke so then I got a PS3 then that broke and now I am gonna get a Switch OLED (note: my dad bought both of those but I chose the switch)
I love the Wii U though.. :(
I liked it too.
diegointhedark ルフィ Its Just his opinion so don’t believe him
diegointhedark ルフィ ikr
Many people liked the wii u, however as far as marketing & sales go it was a failure. Not the console, but it’s marketing
same
Everybody hates the Wii U! But, I feel like I’m the only one that feels like the Wii U was a GREAT CONSOLE!
I love the Wii un
I think people just say that the wii u is bad because of its bad sales :/
Jonah - Gaming and more switch is poooop
But wii u is the man not switch
Jonah - Gaming and more .i love wii U its the best
The information is incorrect. Nintendo teamed up with Sony to make an add on for the SNES but they realised they wouldn't make any money from the software so Nintendo stoped making it with Sony and partnered with Phillips (It was never realised). Sony was embarassed and then made Play Station.
Do some research.
Not hard information to find either.
Besides, the title selection is far from bad:
Pikmin 3
Super Mario Maker
Super Mario 3D World
Captain Toad
Yoshi's Woolly World
Splatoon
Mario Kart 8
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
Paper Mario Color Splash
DKC: Tropical Freeze
Nintendo Land
Hyrule Warriors
Lego City Undercover
New Super Mario Bros. U
Pokkèn
Game & Wario
Mario & Sonic
TLoZ: Wind Waker HD (Remake)
TLoZ: Twilight Princess (Remake)
Mario Party 10
Bayonetta 2
Rayman Legends
Breath of the Wild
To be continued ->
Buy a PS4 if you want to play Triple A title.
Florax X2 breath of the wild was for the switch
Rickandmorty Rulez1 Breath Of The Wild Was For The Switch, It was also ported to the WiiU when it came Out
Ported isn't entirely accurate - it was originally designed as a Wii U game, but was in development so long that by the time it was finished the Switch was out so it was released on both platforms - you could really argue that the Switch version was the port.
What a lot of Wii u games either got a port or a sequel on the switch
Ahh Smash 4... Meta Knight was still broken
The WiiU ROCKS, ok?! It is easily accessible, and you don’t even have to turn on a TV for singleplayer on most games.
Pippithesqueak yeah i play mario kart 8 when i watch tv
Ture
True I have one to
Yeah, I loved the Wii U as well, but the sales were... not so good, but not as bad as the first two failures from Nintendo.
*cough *cough* nintendo switch
I like my Wii u really glad I got one and don't regret it one bit , highly recommended
Nope the nintendo switch is better
I so totally agree with that. And I still love my Wii U. But the Switch is far more better. Been attached to my Switch ever since getting one for Christmas.
jimmy baker agreed
Nintendo however does not want to forget it, as it offered what can be considered the prototype to the Switch's main draw: Off-TV play
You are the only one to really explain where he went wrong with everything, thank you.
My Nintendo 3ds xl is broken
So I call the Nintendo ambulance

Wii Wii Wii Wii u is bad
I actually loved the Wii U.
Austin Miller I agree because it had Splatoon.
SAME
Everyone says that the gamepad is to big, but its perfectly fine for me. Far better than the cramp grip of death you have on the 3DS.
Well it's good that you at least used the word "actually."
Absolute Adam I Agree.
The Wii U itself wasn’t that bad but its library and controllers needed some improvement.
WiiU was a failure in terms of sales and economics.
The Overwatch Channel - All Things Overwatch
The WiiU was a failure. Nintendo acknowledged it. That doesn’t mean it wasn’t a good console. Nintendo is known for gimmicks in consoles. The original Wii’s gimmick worked, sadly the WiiU was marketed wrong and the gimmick didn’t catch on.
The reason it was a failure was because they expected it to sell about 100mil units but it only sold about 12mil.
Had to dislike for the obvious misinformation herein:
The Sony/Philips entries are both due to Nintendo looking to create a CD add-on for the SNES. As part of the deal with Philips, Nintendo allowed them to make a few titles using their IPs, paving the way for the memetastic CD-i Legend of Zelda titles and Mario's Hotel.
its hotel mario but ok
NNNNNNNNNNNEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRDDDDDDDDDD
I don’t understand why all “Nintendo Fails” videos all have the Wii U in it. I have a Wii U and I like it fine, the graphics are amazing and I personally like the tablet controller. Especially on Mario Kart and Splatoon, if Nintendo didn’t make the Wii U how would we have splatoon? Mario Party 10? It’s a shame that the advertising was terrible and full of screaming kids. So all you Switch users who say they hate the Wii U, keep it to yourself I don’t have the Switch yet but for now I love the Wii U.
YES!! i have no switch yet. So Ya switch users keep wii u Bad stuff to yo self!!!!!!!
Yes-yes-yes-yes yes-yes-yes-yes yes-yes-yes-yes yes-yes-yes-yes yes-yes-yes-yes the Wii U is so awesome
Yeah right the wii u games were terrible I had to get a ps4 because of how boring the games were in the wii u but not I have a switch
MarinAnimations _ same
I have both and I absolutely loved the Wii-U. Also, without it, Nintendo wouldn’t have made some of the best games to come out in years. The tablet controller was so comfortable for my big hands. It was an awesome system. I too am so sick of people hating on it. I have a Switch also and while I love it, it’s not like is that much better.
The Wii u is good though..
who else agrees with that playing it safe as sony did with the ps4 only adding a blue light on the back of the controller (only god knows why they did that) and a little touch sensitive button on the front is not as exciting as making a controller that is a touch sensitive screen aswell :)Nintendo will allways be the best course they dare to try new things thats why they are so awesome :)
Ps4 is the best thing ever and also ps5 is coming out next year in 2018 yay but stuff Nintendo no one likes that so fuck every one who likes Nintendo
K-mart_Bickies im a sony fan but why hate on ppl for no reason like just because "ps4 master race" no all platforms have their ups and downs
TheTotallyNotRealJackSepticEye not really
InternalScreaming Really, it is a good system
wii us the best i dont unterstand why everyone hates it!!!
I love the U. The only flaw I know is the main Wii U controllers distance.
Well as much as I agree with you. It's sadly not as good as we think it is. It has BSD reviews, and didn't have good sales
Good
the only thing that's bad about it is the motion controls and the controls in general as well as most of the games on it
I have a Wii u and I don't have any problems with it one time I fell down my stairs and the Wii u game pad didn't even have a scratch on it
According to the thumbnail, Nintendo wants us to forgot about the amiibo scanner on the Wii u, so, one of the main selling points that actually worked
dude the wii u was a great console for me i had it like 1 or 2 years ago and i loved it
EDIT: but still a nintendo switch is better
lol the fact you said you only had it for 1-2 years kinda proves the point :) yes switch is much better
INCORRECT
I mean he probably has the same stuff for it and probably had to sell it for a Nintendo switch or a wii
i loved my wii u i always asked to use it until we moved i used it for about 4 years
Yes it is a great console, but Switch is actually A LOT WORSE than the Wii U. Wii U is the 2nd best Nintendo console besides the GameCube,Switch is 2nd worst besides the Virtual Boy.
If Nintendo wanted you to forget the virtual boy then why did they add it as a item in new leaf
or tomodachi life
Probably just as Easter eggs
Waffled 15 and streetpass mii lobby
Or they have it in tomodachi life too
DarkWing368 how did they make fun of it it was just there they were not poking fun at or anything
Ugh....
#9 - *Insert "IT'S SO BAD!" quote here*
#10 - Yep... though they are STILL living in the past.
TheGamer's Biggest fails.

I can't believe that they say that the Wii U is bad that's there opinion on that cause the Wii U was amazing
deadly games tbh yes. It had Black Ops 2, just no DLC’s.
deadly games preach 🙌👏
The WiiU is my FAVORITE Nintend Console.! EVER. Period.
But
I liked Wii U....
loads of false info sorry :/
Supergirl Kels true
Supergirl Kels like what (not trying to be rude :) )
Ikr
i agree truely
Jimmy MacPow just for example the Sony and Nintendo deal, if Nintendo agreed Sony would’ve owned Mario Zelda and Pokémon etc. It was never about the discs, it was also the fact that they couldn’t agree on who would own the console, it was a good idea to step out
“Good games like super smash bros and Mario party 10.” Well the first half was right.
Yeah, Mario Party 10 is not that great.
I don't like the randomness of Mario Party at all
Half of these are opinions, not fails.
Well determining if something is a failure is a matter of opinion soooooooo......
I think the WiiU was really underrated. It was the perfect transition between the Wii and the Switch. Splatoon and Yoshi's Woolly World were the best games for it.
100000% agreed!!!
along with some others like smash bros, mario maker, mario 3d world, some others
Sapphire Supernova ikr! It even allowed u to play old games like sonic, mario and luigi superstar saga, just to name a few
Sapphire Supernova Lol it sucked.
Sapphire Supernova and super Mario maker and super smash bros
#10 is wrong. Sony was gonna make an add on for the SNES, but Nintendo betrayed them by partnering with Phillips. Sony then made the PlayStation to compete with Nintendo.
Also it’s hotel Mario not Mario hotel.
Is it
He’s right it wasn’t for n64
Actually it was a CD/Cartridge SNES not an N64 and Nintendo did kinda accept the disks (although they preferred cartridges) but went their own ways as Sony wanted to licence all the CD based games but they didn’t agree.
Well, the Wii is one of the most successful consoles of history, so...whatever
Preach
Caetano Martins It wasn't even the most successful console of that generation
Matthew Edwards it was the most innovative and the best selling console of the generation
Wii U, isn’t the same as Wii. The original wii was far more successful compared to the WiiU
Legally Cynical yeah, I know, but they didn’t loose a lot of money. Actually Nintendo is the richest company of Japan nowadays
But Wii u is fun
DangerousDan1 yes it is
THANK YOU!!!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

The first one is a total lie Nintendo and Sony were developing a disk ad on for the snes but then complications occurred
Kian Craig omg your profile pic is hamtarooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!
Close, but Nintendo went behind Sony’s back and also collaborated with Phillips for the same thing.

Dude, my childhood console "Game cube" is a really good console when I was younger no matter what. It's pretty much my favorite Nintendo console
The Wii U is not stupid it is a really good thing I have one
Dabbleten 360 same
While theres no reason to call it a stupid console since it had quite a lot of qualities, we cant ignore tthe fact that its marketing was aweful and it sold really poorly, which is quite a shame... :/
also, I invite you to report TheGamer. not because he said the wiiu was bad, but because of his lack of research, aweful clickbaiting and poor content.
Dabbleten 360 me too
Hey guys. We should make a video called top 10 youtube mistakes. You should already what one of them is gonna be.

I do not think the wii u was that bad
It is my favorite!

But I LUV the WiiU!
Naruto Uzumaki Naruto 😇😀
We all do!
Ok then. Ramen King.
The wii u isnt a failure. ...
Look at Nintendo’s financials and stock price
*It was*
Maria Acevedo yeah it was they lost money
Sadly, it was. I love the console, but Nintendo really messed up. Horrible advertising, poor third-party line up, and a poor selection of first party games.
In fact, it was so bad, it's the poorest selling home Console for Nintendo and it lowered Nintendo's stock. They even had to replace it with the Switch and DISCONTINUED the console before the Switch was even released. And a majority of Wii U games have been ported to the Switch(BotW, MK8) or have 3DS counterparts(Smash, Mario Maker).
@Ryan Fernandes I know that, but could you list some games please? I could help explain why they failed.
I actually like the wii u

The Wii U is actually one of the best Nintendo consoles and maybe one of the best of all time!
These aren’t even your opinions! Who cares about the sales. The Nintendo fans want a good console. And it was good.
*THE SWITCH IS GONNA GET YOU*
Well clearly you forgot to factor in the Gamecube
Also, I’m pretty sure the power glove was just a 3rd party accessory by Mattel
Well, it was in fact called the "Play Station" and Sony did not have enough imagination to change it, but to make it only one word...
Johnathan Hernandez dbshhdgsag u mean
Ah yes, Nintendo's biggest mistake. A yellow circle around the home button.

The Switch exists nowdays, boi.

I completely agree I was awed when I saw the Wii U on that list it belongs on the best Nintendo consoles list!
As a owner of a Wii U myself
The console is fine. But I absolutely hate the tablet controller. It's way too big and gripping it for an extended period of time makes my fingers hurt.
M
why does everyone call it a ''tablet'' it's called the ''Wii U Gamepad'' for crying out loud!
plus I love the Wii U Gamepad.
Crazyunicorn 060 TRUE
I'm more of a Wii controller fan than a Wii U game pad fan (probably because I spent my whole time as a kid using the Mario Kart Wii wheel than a game pad).

06:34 Good Games:Mario Party 10...WHAT!?
Seymo 2206 After All, It's The BEST Mario Party.
Cutie & Friends Adventures My favorites are MP2 und MPDS
Seymo 2206 Yeah, the only good part of Mario Party 10 was the minigames.
No offence but the 'Newer' Mario Party tites sucks and that's because they're not made by HUDSON.

Mario party 10 was not a “good title”

Not everything is about money, if anything the Wii U saved the gamer money instead spending it. The various controllers the wii u supported were from previous systems. not to mention, the loads of hacks, mods and nifty tricks you could do. The wii u could play wii u , wii, gamecube, NES, SNES, genesis, CPS1, CPS2, MAME, and tons of other options. @thegamer ... have you internet browsed with that "bulky" game pad? It's the most convenient method of surfing the web, and acts like a firestick with streaming sources.
I stand by my word when I say the Wii U has the greatest web browser out of any game console. It's perfect for streaming from sites like KissAnime.
TheSonTendo Exactly!
You can even watch videos on the TV while you browse on the gamepad!
You can also speed up the video by holding right bumper! (While the video is on the gamepad screen)
And The Nintendo Switch doesn't even have a Browser at all!
it doesn't even have RUclips!

I got 4 games for the Wii U this Christmas!
Umm, I don't Mario Party 10 was good by any means.
I love my wii U and saying it was doomed from the start is like saying you have a good channel.

Despite some good games like smash bros and..... Mario party 10? What? Mario party 10 was horrible.
NintenDerp _ not rly
Oh my god fuck you wat did u just say thats like the best Mario party ever
U wanna know wats the worst Mario party ever? Well of course it's Mario party 64 cuz the N64 sucks, also Mario party 1, 2, 3 i think those are for the Gamecube and it also sucks, u wanna know wats the best Mario party ever? Well mario party DS of course its da best
1 2 and 3 are for N64. Mario Party 64 does NOT exist.
I loved Mario party 9 for the wii
Well at least the wiiu games were good
[iS]RyGuy23 yeah
When you said wiiu what the biggest failure and worst console they produced, I knew this video was bs. The wiiu was not bad.....
I invite you to report TheGamer for his lack of research, aweful clickbaiting and poor content.
it is the lowest selling nintendo console ever made. numbers don't lie
actualy, the virtual boy was the worst selling nintendo console... sold less than 800k units and it was discontinued not even a year later. The Wii U sold almost 14 million units and had a 4 years life span, so ya, while it was a commercial failure, it wasn't the worst selling nintendo console.
numbers don't lie indeed.
piccle ric sidenote. There is actually some people selling their switches and buying a wii u because of the lack of new games there has been recently.
Esmeralda Diaz if the problem is a lack of games, then i find it very odd that the solution would be to buy a dead console that won't get any new games ever and didn't have an all that impressive lineup in the first place. But to each their own I suppose.
The power glove actually wasn’t made by Nintendo. Nintendo just slapped their logo on it
8:24 now is nintendo labo

AFAIK, labo is just going to be part of (and come with) its own games, they aren't really accessories.
Isn't the Nintendo labor the same as the wii remote add on's?

Happy LuckyCat no not at all
I know it's not the most popular opinion, but I kind of liked how bulky the Wii u was. Iit was molded to fit your hands, unlike the switch, and it made me feel like I had more control. The buttons fell at more comfortable places and fast paced games felt natural.
