Ukrainians generally love music and to sing, therefore typically there is a large choice of performers for contests like Eurovision. Actually, a lot of great bands, e.g. Hardkiss, came in second in pre selection rounds, and I always thought, that Ukraine could have had more wins if these rounds would play out differently.
I agree. In 2017 Tayanna should have won with her song I Love You. ILLARIA would be fantastic in 2018 with Syla. Max Barskyh would be great in 2012 with Dance
The song from 2005 was the unofficial anthem and fight song for the Ukrainian Orange Revolution in 2004. For the ESC the lyrics was changed so all political references was removed.
YES, YES, YES UKRAINE!!! One of my favourite Eurovision countries! I like all of these songs (apart from their first one)! My top 7: 1) 2008: Ani Loraki should have won! Shady Lady is Ukraine's best ever entry and way better than both Wild Dances and 1944! 2) 2007 3) 2006 4) 2004 5) 2009 6) 2005 7) 2003
Quite a number of underrated gems from Ukraine's first decade other than "Wild Dances", "Shady Lady", "Be My Valentine", "Dancing Lasha Tumbai" and "Show Me Your Love". But what's certain is that Ukraine never sends the same song twice in a row. 2003 -Underrated. This was quite a very decent entry that deserves more recognition. For a modest debut, Ukraine was only showing 20% of its full power. 2004 -A good winner I thought. Probably not something that requires constant looped intervals on your music player but it definitely helped cement the wave of ethno-pop that came to dominate the next few years (alongside the increasing presence of novelties). 2005 -Severely underrated given how much of a post-revolution theme song this entry was and what it means to Ukrainians. However, how it was selected is a different story. A convoluted national selection that lasted multiple weeks, if not months, and the song that became their entry was one of the wildcards that had a pass to the national final. It wasn't that Ukraine wanted to not win via this entry, it's just that, the rest of Europe simply didn't get it. And that's sad. 2006 -The start of the Ukrainian streak of iconic divas. 2007 -This is quite interesting, from the clear novelty song that it didn't even bother hiding to the fact that it made such a huge impression to a lot of people within and outside the bubble, it truly says a lot. 2008 -Probably the only Kirkorov-produced song that I like. 2009 -Whoagh.
Literally my favourite country in Eurovision (except from 2003, 2005 and 2017) which we should not talk about lol I’m still mad at what they did to Maruv last year tho. She won her NF fair and square and deserved to go to Eurovision hands down! She would’ve been a contender and a possible top 3 last year for Ukraine I’m still
Oof, the disrespect to Razom Nas Bahato (2005). Apparently that song was very important to Ukrainian people. More of a message song than a song made to win. (look up what was going on in Ukraine during 2004-2005 to find out why.)
Make a video about Serbia in Eurovision ('00 decade) Yes I know, Serbia has debuted in 2007 but put in this video and Serbia & Montenegro's acts (2004- 2005)
12: Dancing Lasha Tumbai [2007] 10: Wild Dances [2004] 08: Show Me Your Love [2006] 07: Be My Valentine (Anti-Crisis Girl) [2009] 06: Razom Nas Bahato [2005] 05: Shady Lady [2008] 04: Hasta La Vista [2003]
@DagIN No, he was much better in 2012, practically everything bout Eurovision 2004 was dull, thank God 2005 had some good tunes from Israel, Greece, Norway, Switzerland, Germany and Russia.
Yes, 2004 was not strong at all but Ukraine won because of many reasons. We didn't have anything like Wild Dances before and even after Ruslana's victory. She was singing and dancing at the same time and she showed a brilliant VOCAL even in the end of her performance. It's still one of the most memorable Eurovision performances ever
I think they peaked with Ruslana, (leather, whips and a homage to Xena Princess Warrior) who could ask for more; I think the song is one of the best songs 00's. Did it take them 12 years of saving money so they could host ESC 2017?
i do not see the hype with verka just like i never saw the hype with toy... and Serbia deserved to win 2007, anyone who disagrees I'm so sorry you can't appreciate quality singers and songs lmfao
Nicholas is right, I guess at least since Ireland in the nineties every ESC winner had unofficially instructed their home entry in the following year do make safe not to win because it is expensive.
Sorry but I'm not a fan of Ukraine 2009 at all, that is just a mess and trying to be sexy, but don't work. Love Ruslana and love Shady Lady and Verka was so much fun, but Molitva was my winner along with Greece in 2007, and 2003, 2005 and 2006 were just okay songs.
I love dancing lasha tumbai and shady lady but serbia and russia deserved to won those years and i know thinking russia deserved to win is an upopular opinion
Ruslana doesn't suck at all. She was the whole package - energy, dancing, vocal, ethnicity, charisma. I know, you hate Shady Lady with passion but give it some credits as well - great vocals, staging, catchy beat.
Except for Wild dance, all those entries suck. For most parts I really can't stand Ukraine in ESC, it's always too much over the top cheesy crap, I'm sorry, bläääähh!
I'd say Sweden always sends CHEESY dance-pop trash and everyone screams like their entries are masterpieces lol At least Ukraine tries to be different. Anyway, I only agree with one statement - Wild Dances is the best Ukrainian entry in that decade
Ukraine simply the most gifted country I have ever seen. It’s incredible how much talented artists there are. Always fresh new and unique. ❤️❤️
Thanks for your reaction! You are so nice and positive! ❤ from Ukraine
This Serbian guy is amazing. Good to see him in this channel. Love from Azerbaijan
Ukranian entries are one of my fav without doubt. Lasha Tumbai ohh my what a fun haha. Love from🇹🇷
5:30 Love how Stefan is protecting Molitva😂
haha, Molitva was great, but come on... it's Verka. She'll be remembered in 50 years.
Love from Ukraine 😍

ME WANT ANOTHER DECADE OF UKRAINE'S ENTRIES :)
When will be 10's decade? Thank you.
Ukraine 2009 was ICONIC! 🔥
Verka Serduchka, Ani Lorak, Zlata Ognevich, Svetlana Loboda, Gaitana and Maria Yaremchuk
Thank you friends!
Like from Ukraine✌️😋

Yes, but realistically, it was Ukraine's worst entry and they just didn't want to win again, it's too expensive to always win :)
🇹🇷🇺🇦
1-2004
2-2008
3-2007
4-2006

Hey Guys! Please make reaction on Russia "00", "10" and Ukraine "10"
Thx a lot !)
12: Dancing Lasha Tumbai [2007]
10: Wild Dances [2004]
08: Show Me Your Love [2006]
07: Be My Valentine (Anti-Crisis Girl) [2009]
06: Razom Nas Bahato [2005]
05: Shady Lady [2008]
04: Hasta La Vista [2003]
The "we can't win again" comment had me laughing hard.
And the Anti Crisis Mama was THE DEAL .
💚💚
👍👍👍
They did Loboda dirty that year. That was campy and iconic.
Could you do the deacade 00's of Spain?, I've noticed you have done the 10's but not the 00's...
stefan
Will there be Finland's decade? It would be cool to see your reaction to Finland's entry in the decade of 2000? Ps. Great content guys♥️
2004 was an extremely poor ESC, the worst of the 2000s, in fairness Ukraine was the only real memorable song of that year IMO
@DagIN No, he was much better in 2012, practically everything bout Eurovision 2004 was dull, thank God 2005 had some good tunes from Israel, Greece, Norway, Switzerland, Germany and Russia.

I still listen to Wild Dances, I disagree that it didn't stand the test of time

Decade of Iceland next
5:32 i dare to say Verka was robbed, what now Stefanttt?😴
RUN!
haha
It's so funny how Loboda only came 12th in 2009, but now she is one of the biggest stars ever in Russia and Ukraine)
I think it's been downhill for her ever since
And now Ani Lorak and Loboda are mostly Russian singers. There was a time when Verka Serduchka was a Russian superstar.
Stefan from Serbia is very good looking, but man, calm down a little bit LOL
If Ani Lorak was to go to Eurovision, it will be for any country other than Ukraine! Lol Ukraine wouldn't dare ask her.
Why
Nicholas is right, I guess at least since Ireland in the nineties every ESC winner had unofficially instructed their home entry in the following year do make safe not to win because it is expensive.
Sure not safe
Serbia's song in 2008, 'Oro' was better than their winning song 'Molitva' in 2007 for me. That's the only exception I can think of.
@@sav0001 for you.... Not for others... Molitva was wayyy better....
Their host entry was selected via a national selection and I read that it was a very popular song following Ukraine's revolution at the time.
NEXT SPAIIN
Sorry but I'm not a fan of Ukraine 2009 at all, that is just a mess and trying to be sexy, but don't work. Love Ruslana and love Shady Lady and Verka was so much fun, but Molitva was my winner along with Greece in 2007, and 2003, 2005 and 2006 were just okay songs.
there is not a decade of denmark!
Hello Andreas, Yes there is.

Time for an unpopular opinion of mine: All of them except 2007 suck
Yup 100% unpopular
Ruslana doesn't suck at all. She was the whole package - energy, dancing, vocal, ethnicity, charisma. I know, you hate Shady Lady with passion but give it some credits as well - great vocals, staging, catchy beat.

I am the opposite, Wild Dances is one of my least liked Ukrainian entries from this group of songs.
May I ask you what is your favourite country in ESC?
2010 was quite stripped back from the glitzy spectacles from the years previous.
I'd say Sweden always sends CHEESY dance-pop trash and everyone screams like their entries are masterpieces lol At least Ukraine tries to be different. Anyway, I only agree with one statement - Wild Dances is the best Ukrainian entry in that decade
2000s was a decade of cheesy over the top songs, but 2010-2020 Ukraine has been more about the message than cheesiness
