The picture on the thumbnail is different from the one in the actual article. I'm a gardener and native UK wild flower enthusiast, and the orchid in the thumbnail is deginitely not British. Ah, some people in comments say it's American. Keeping its location secret is extremely important. The minute its location is made known - someone will figure it's worth money and dig it up. Orchids are not easy to transplant, they rely on special types of soil fungi to thrive.
Someone should definitely write a book about the ghost orchid, then make a thriller movie Adaptation of it :) (this is a joke referring to "Adaptation", the movie starring nic cage, since it's an *excellent* movie about orchids, watch it if you haven't!)

At last some good news🎉. So pleased he, as a plant lover (as in not a collector), found it. Good to see it will be protected too, and well done for spotting it. He’s right, we can create the habitats, but most couldn’t be bothered. Let’s face it, some can’t even create a garden habitat, so yep let’s keep it a secret. As a plant lover and keen gardener I’m 100% for that.❤
He's a dental surgon, he's used to doing that thing where they shove stuff in your mouth and then ask a casual question you cant answer cause he's scraping your teeth. Serves him right.
Remember the tree on Adrian's wall was chain sawed by someone, until now no one has been brought to justice, i would not reveal that rare orchids location just yet.
with "global warming" there will be more and more. fungi grow in high humidity'dampness". so for all those who fear global warming, no need to fret, beauty grows in all environments! cheers!
@@jenmu7870 honestly, i doubt it!!! all three will adapt and survive! some plants are also nomadic ,they grow and root away from the original place they were growing. suddenly you see it grow elsewhere. even though it has become extinct within your eyesight it is blossoming further away.

Was it necessary to use an orchid on your thumbnail that's completely different from the one in the story? Talk about clock baiting, and diminishing from the actual story itself
I didn't even know Europe had such things. I thought you people were famous for erasing/ conquering nature, how long before this flower goes extinct, I give it 20 years.
If Robert Telles was a Republican the BBC headline would've read: "Republican politician given life sentence..." but instead its only mentioned deep into the article that he was in fact a Dem...ouch.
Glad he had the foresight not to say where it is. People can't be trusted.

Well done for finding it again !! Good news for UK’s native wildlife
This guy just fulfilled his lifelong dream! Can't help but feel happy for him, he's such a nice bloke!
My favorite flower!! I will never have one myself. Much too rare and fragile. But hauntingly beautiful!!
His smile is nice.
Mans GEEKD to find this gem! His smile indeed is nice, expresses his absolute joy!
Lmao the picture in the thumbnail is the Florida Ghost Orchid which is totally unrelated to the one they’re talking about in this video 😂
just googled it, soooo true 😁😂😂👍👍
I also noticed it ! And not one ,but two people to ' 3:14 describe' it !

What a beautiful story.
The "it's been a quest for you... *WHY* ???" is a beautiful transition. What an amazing find, and a wonder of British forests!
finally some good news! 💚
Fantastic! Well done to the Orchid Hunter.
That’s a nice blessing .
Beautiful plant .great news
Wonderful. What a lovely man. The interviewer should not interrupt him like that. Very rude. If you ask a question, LISTEN to the answer.!
Why, ask a question, if you don't want to hear the answer?
Wow!! That is amazing
Someone should write a thriller movie about it.
this orchid's biology contains the missing ingredient to finally help produce the next ZOMBIE virus. Let's make it happened.
with Michael Jackson? (thriller reference)

Now this a type of news we all needed...
The word "orchid" is derived from the Greek word (orchis) for testicle because of the shape of the root tubers.
Nice..Keep it under safety and care 😘💯
Interesting how it behaves more like mycelium than an actual orchid. Never heard of any flower behaving like that.

No it’s not
Poor research by BBC😆
