This is a terrible tragedy for the parents of the young fifteen year old Ruby and other families of the deceased. My most heartfelt condolences to everyone going through these unnecessary sad moments. I know this will not bring Ruby back but the parents of the troubled shooter should be charged with criminal negligence and possession of weapons around a mental health patient. They are to blame for this nightmare and should be held accountable! 😡
They would have to prove that the weapons were stored in a non legal way. WI statute 948.55 states: "948.55 Leaving or storing a loaded firearm within the reach or easy access of a child. (1) In this section, “child” means a person who has not attained the age of 14 years." The shooter was 15 so criminal negligence is pretty much off the table, as you would have to prove that they left the firearm in a open and readily accessible area with the intention of said shooter taking it and using it in a crime. As far as i am aware of the shooter was not involuntarily admitted to a mental health facility by the state so cannot charge the parents for that either.
Instead of spending $15k per year for public education, why don’t we send that money to mom or dad to stay home and teach their own children with this thing called the internet?

@ ok you have a right to bear arms but not to shoot anyone, you have a right to drive a car not run over anyone ! You have to pass regulations and NO regulations don’t take away guns ! You need to make strict penalties for using them in crimes and if you don’t store them properly and someone else uses that gun in a crime that person also gets the same punishment! There is way to many guns now to really do to much but some regulations need to be passed ! If someone uses your gun in a crime because you didn’t store it properly the penalty needs to be severe You can pass Background checks No one under 18 No convicted felons Guns are a right and should be taken away from a person if they can’t follow the law

I suppose if somebody breaks into your house and steals a large kitchen knife out of your drawer and stabs your neighbor to death, you should go to jail for murder using your logic.
