Based on your recent knife journey, I think you'd like the Palme folding knife. Affordable, folder, easy single hand open, fits perfectly in Palme PFD pocket :) (only critique would be that it's a tiny bit flimsy compared to Spyderco) Thank you for the thorough review on the Nevis!
Just thinking about added weight on my pfd recently, do you think the ring is necessary for the release belt or could you just clip a carabiner directly to the belt and omit the ring all together. I think the exception would be the tow tether for kayaking.
I am not an authority on how these rescue PFDs are supposed to be loaded but what you're suggesting makes a lot of sense. There may be a downside but I can't think of it.
@@GearGarageTV Ahh yeah you did say. It is not illegal to wear though right? I think Palm have some of the nicest stuff out there, shame it cant be enjoyed the otherside of the pond. Can I ask, are you still enjoying the Nevis? Im about to buy one myself.
Skiers use inflatable bouyancy devices for avalanches. Why don't we have something like that (in addition to a normal pfd) for kayaking? Lives would be saved for sure.
That's a good question for the PFD manufacturers. Mustang Survival has something like that but it takes a 10-sih lb pfd to 16-ish lbs. What we need is something that's 16-ish lbs going to 22 lbs.
I was thinking you might know of something like that...since you’ve done a bunch of advanced kayaking. BTW, your Middle Fork sweep boat video was a great primer for conditions on the river. We did it in Oct, and felt well informed! Thanks for all your efforts! They’re well appreciated.
I like the look of how this fits. It looks like my gut can comfortably stick out. Do you have PFD recommendations for a dude with a bit of a beer belly? I don't have to shop big and tall or anything just rocking the dad bod.
@@GearGarageTV I'd love to get one for myself, but I don't think Palm can even legally ship them to the US as they lack US Coast Guard approval. I believe they're sold in Canada, and a retailer there may ship one to you in the US if you buy through them, but you'll probably have to have someone buy it and ship it to you, as Palm probably prohibits even dealers from shipping to the US.

Yes that knife looks cool but I'm sold on the Gerber that I've been using for 20 years.
@@GearGarageTV Right on! All good :)
Curious if you can tell me how I can obtain this in the United States? I am having troubles finding it online.
Do you know how many lbs of flotation it has?
Those metal buckles are legit. I've busted plenty of the plastic ones and you can't replace them.
Yes and they're rated for being loaded

If I created a palm import company, who in the us would want to order from me?
I'dd buy some things. Unfortunately the PFDs are not rated for use in the U.S..

This one would complement a beer belly nicely
What would be the most comfortable astral?
@@jordanhasselbalch6441 The YTV is pretty comfortable
Hey Zach, great video! How did you order a palm PFD? Looks like the site just gives you European shops.
A friend brought it to me from Europe. I'd suggest contacting Palm and asking them where to find one.
