As always, you have explained something very confusing in a most logical and coherent way. This koan always upset me and, having not read his commentary, I felt that the Zen master was being willingly misleading. I'm still somewhat bothered by Buddhism's refusal to acknowledge the eternal validity of the soul. The Universe doesn't play the takeaway game. I loved the end where we pass through the entry with no gate - perfect visual!

Thank you 🙏. To some extent, the frustration and being upset seems to be part of the process in Zen. The koans are at first impenetrable, but if the mind knocks itself out in trying to understand them, they suddenly bloom as the strikingly clear "transmission of mind". Their wisdom undiminished across a thousand years.

I don't know if you watch YourHigherSelf videos but he got some interesting positive reactions to two "no-self" exercises broadcast on 11/16 (5 senses) and 11/18. (no observer). I bet you could do this sort of thing really well, using multiple images/metaphors such that one would be likely to click with your viewers.

Thanks for caring and suggesting the topics :). I don't watch that channel and find it shady. It is entirely AI generated, all the way from the transcripts, to the voice, even the thumbnails. And the person running the channel is choosing to have extra ads even in the middle of the video (channel owners have the option to do so), so their intention is to make money more than anything else.
Such AI generated content can seem to say all the right things, but it is not coming from true realisation and will contain errors. I watched that 5 senses video for a bit and it grants reality to sounds but denies the reality of the listener. This is not how it is. The sounds are insentient phenomena. The appearance. They cannot exist without the Listener! It is just that the Listener is so much more than just a listener.
We will build our own community here. For the discerning mind in search of the genuine truth 🙏❤️.
