In advanced Jive (including open-style competition Jive), there is a variation called the "Flick Ball Change." It had been seen in the old-time jive variation called Flick Crosses, but the Flick-Ball-Change is something like kick-ball - but the flick is actually a vertical-going-down kick with a pointed toe to maintain the straight foot-to-ankle line vertically while the knee is flexed still.

And amazingly, you can do the kick ball change in International Samba as well - as one of the acceptable foot changes in that dance!!!!

The Kick Ball, very generally, can replace the traditional 2-step rock in such basic jive figures as the Fallaway Rock or the Basic Throwaway or the Link.
