Pretty sure this is just to artificially inflate their dwindling membership... according to their jw website 'memebership' is only counting those 'active' in ministry... by removing those standards, membership will skyrocket, or at least not be lower than global birthrate which is where it is now....

Yep, that's exactly what's happening. I could feel the turning point starting right as I left in about 2014 when the "governing body" became more public and much more explicit about how hardcore they want people to be. The energy in the whole "community" shifted and you could feel that people's gears were turning, trying to decide just how serious they were.

A JW woman and her tween daughter came to my door. I mentioned to the lady that I was born with erythroblastosis fetalis. I was RH positive and my mom was RH-. This meant that in order to survive after birth I needed to total body blood transfusions. I asked the woman if she would have denied her daughter those blood transfusions if it meant her death. She said no blood transfusions. I told her daughter "do you hear what your mom is saying? She would have let you die after being born." I hope that girl escapes these crazy people that interpret whatever they want from the bible.

You are right to think we are coming to the end of the world…..the world as we know it.
The world ruled by corrupt man is about to be taken away from them. It’s going to be handed over to Christ’s government and will last for a thousand years.
He will rule with justice, kindness and will show us…teach us, how to live in harmony.
We won’t see him but he will be ruling. We won’t see him throwing the devil into the abyss but we will certainly feel the relief of not having his evil influence on us anymore.

One of the things my parents did right. Anyway, after we moved a couple young men came knocking. We had rescued and raised a baby raccoon, who, when they knocked on the door, jumped up and latched his claws into the screen door, rattling it and screaming/chattering at them! Jehovahs killed my grandma. She was a bipolar abused divorcee raising her son alone. They roped her in with their promises of community, then convinced her the world was ending, and tried to push her to disown my father for not going along. They put so much psychological stress on her that she killed herself in the garage with the carbon monoxide from her car. Left my dad to find her dead at 17 and caused generational trauma to my family. Its extremely sad, especially because all my grandma needed was a positive community and they manipulated her into cutting ties with those who cared about her, going off her medication, and kept brainwashing her that judgement day was coming. The worst is the fact that all she had was her son and they tried forcing her into "its him or us".
Its such an evil cult, and its so sad how many lives will be ruined by being connected to the cult. My dad was never in it but lost his mom, got severe ptsd. I was never in it, but the trauma caused my dad to be an angry person and passed it onto me. And my grandma is dead. All because someone knocked on her door with a smile, and manipulated a sad lonely woman looking for something to be a part of. Its incredibly sad.

After living in my neighbourhood for 4 years, yesterday I had my first JW door knockers. 2 nice old ladies. Because I had the morning off, I decided to hear them out and engage them with some gentle, respectful disagreement and discuss. All they kept saying was "The governments of the world are all corrupt and leading the world to destruction, so now God's government will take over."
When I asked what that meant in an actual material sense - like, what God's Government taking over actually looked like, they just kept repeating "It will take over all the human governments."
The conversation went round and round like this until one of the old ladies decided she was finished with me, and said "We're just here to give you this" and handed me a card with just the JW website on it. That's all. They didn't try to convince me of anything, just that it's the end time and God is going to take action.

No one including family members will cause a true Christian to compromise their faith. If you feel a family member is more important than the God we worship you have lost the races. (Matthew 10:34-37) Do not think I came to bring peace to the earth; I came to bring, not peace, but a sword. 35 For I came to cause division, with a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36 Indeed, a man’s enemies will be those of his own household. 37 Whoever has greater affection for father or mother than for me is not worthy of me; and whoever has greater affection for son or daughter than for me is not worthy of me.

They believed that at some point all the "prepared" people would gather in the wilderness and the Chinese and Russians would invade, and kill everyone in the U.S. avoiding those who had hidden away, and then just leave the country completely empty for the "believers" to repopulate. Their "persecution" is a self-fulfilling prophecy, too. A lot of JWs are going to use this opportunity to tell the "sinners" in their lives just what they think about them. They're going to become more judgemental, nasty, and isolated. The governing body will encourage it. Then they'll call it persecution when their family avoids them and the law protects people from their judgemental harassment.

I’m 76 been ‘out’ for a long time. But years ago I remember the ‘scare’ times. Once we were to wrap a bible in plastic and tape it under our houses so when marshal law begins to confiscate our literature we would still have a bible. Another ‘message’ was keep winter coats by the front door so when ‘we’ were rounded go and marched from our homes if it is winter we can grab our coats. One family in our congregation ran up huge bills thinking they wouldn’t have to pay for it because Armageddon was coming in 1975. But when 1975 came and went so did that family. Bankruptcy and they moved. The worst for me as a teenager was when John Kennedy was running for president. I was terrified because if he became president he would implement marshal law to force all people to become catholic. One terror after another!!!!

I mentioned yourself and a few other stories that I've heard about people leaving and or being excommunicated by the JW.
