It was so nice to see all 3 of the original Mets broadcasters together one last time. Like the song says: Reunited and it feels so good! I'm sure they are watching the Mets somewhere up in the rafters above the clouds looking over Citi Field! RIP Bob Murphy, Lindsey Nelson & Ralph Kiner! You are never forgotten!
This is a very special video, and may it live here on YT and the internet forever. For all the current Mets fans who gush (rightfully so) about Gary, Keith and Ronnie in the booth, these 3 HOFers here were the originals that many of us were blessed to grow up with calling every game. The memories are flooding back, and a lot of it was during losing games and seasons, but as they say in the video, it was always fun. As a kid, I was lucky enough to have my photo taken with Bob Murphy on the field before a game. Years later, I also got to visit the Kiner's Korner "studio" which was just a little room down the tunnel from the dugout. A lot of magic, a lot of good times, and always LGM!
I was so happy for Murph when he called the final out as Jesse Orosco struck out Marty Barrett for the final out of the 1986 World Series on then WHN Radio!
Nostalgia, I remember that moment. I ran out the screaming with a headphone radio on my head. The whole block was shouting. I will never forget the next day. I happened to attend Flushing High School at the time. A classmate and I ditched class after home room. We walked to the Main Street Station and boarded on a 7 train and the car was packed. Everybody looking at each other not saying a word. I decided to break the suspense and talk with my classmate about the game. Moments later the conductor made an announcement as the train was ready to depart. " Next stop: Home of the 1986 World Series Champions New York Mets, Shea Stadium- Willis Point. Everybody in the car just went bonkers. Chanting, singing, yelling, just having a ride of our lives. From Main Street in Flushing to Times Square {only stop was Shea Stadium-). I will cherish that memory until my last breath. A great moment to be a Met fan. ☺️
For a bit of perspective, I was 20 at this point and as much as I loved these guys they struck me as pretty ancient. And so it's amazing to me now that Gary, Keith, and Ron are currently older than Ralph, Lindsey, and Bob were here.
They were a great trio for many years. Watching Mets lose was somehow okay while listening to these guys. Once they became successful, it was a great ride while listening to them.
This is the last time the three broadcasters were together. Ralph Kiner wrote in his autobiography, "Baseball Forever," that when Lindsey left the team they had lost contact. Ralph was sad about that, and later, even more stung that he and Bob Murphy were not invited to Lindsey's funeral.
A couple humblebrags about the celebrities he hung out with or dated though. But if I had dates with Liz Taylor or Janet Leigh, I’d toot my own horn too
I watched a handful of games here and there as a kid in 1983 but 84 was the first season when I really have a strong memory of watching baseball and the Mets. In hindsight it was a rare great time to actually be a Mets fan as the team was surprisingly competitive and won 90 games laying the groundwork for the Championship team in 86. They finished in either 1st or 2nd place every year between 1984-90, if there was a Wildcard back then they probably make the playoffs almost everyone of those seasons, certainly in 85 when they won 98 ballgames and actually had the third best record in baseball but ended up 2 game behind the Cardinals in the NL East. Heard all the stories about the 69 Mets and the bumbling babes of 1962 and Casey Stengel. And of course heard all about the original 3 Mets broadcasters both on radio and TV Bob Murphy, Ralph Kiner & Lindsey Nelson. Nelson retired after 1981 but both Murph & Ralph ended up working into the new millennium.
These were the voices of the Mets in my childhood. Brings back so many memories.
Mine too and Bob Murphy is one of the main reasons why I became a sportscaster too!
Ditto

Great broadcasters! Lindsey Nelson was a fantastic football announcer as well. Who remembers Bob Murphy on bowling for dollars on WOR tv?
Bowling for dollars was on at 7pm?
I remember it a little bit.
We both have to be old to remember it.
@@chrisnalina1755 7 or 730pm WOR tv 9 in NYC area
My late brother William loved the Mets, with Linsey and Ralph. RIP my brother see you soon.

The memories come flooding back. We who grew up with the Mets in the 60's and 70's were truly blessed.
Lifetime Yankees fan.
But man, these guys were great. WOR channel 9. Mets and the Million Dollar Movie. Where did that all go?

The voices of my childhood. Wonderful memories.
Fantastic! A lot of memories with those three.
Love this video. And a reminder that you can always find gold in every era of history
These guys made the early days fun. Only folks of a certain age like myself can remember how bad those Mets teams were.
Or how good they were later on!
Unlike alot of ex ball players of todays who are always takin about themselves ..As great of a player Ralph Kiner was he never beat his own drum
A couple humblebrags about the celebrities he hung out with or dated though. But if I had dates with Liz Taylor or Janet Leigh, I’d toot my own horn too
The very next year Lindsey’s book, “Hello, Everybody, I’m Lindsey Nelson” came out. It’s one of the most cherished volumes in my Library
Great to hear again.
Wonderful memories LET'S GO METS!!!
Wow, this was great. LETS GO METS!
The top 3 of all time!
The best announcers ever
2:47 Bob Murphy invents the Irish Goodbye
They did both radio and TV

Where has the time gone? Oh, man.
It was great to see the star of the game interviewed
Lindsey is about the smoothest broadcaster-whether it was baseball, football, anything
Awesome !!!
Is there any more of these videos available? What a historical find🙉🙈😃
Casey was only 71 here.
He shows the effects of a hard life.
1962 is as far from 1984 as today is from 2001 😮
Casey Stengel and Stengelese
I want that suit
Contact Doc Severinsen, he probably has something very close to it.
Lindsey’s hair is hmmmm 😂
