- Milwaukee Brewers Hall of Famer Robin Yount shares some funny stories about Bob Uecker before the unveling of the announcer's statute in section 422 at Miller Park.
The 87-year-old Uecker attended his 50th anniversary celebration Saturday afternoon in a conference room on the Terrace Level of American Family Field. Her later was feted before the Brewers game against the New York Mets, throwing out the ceremonial first pitch in his unique style by using a pitching machine.

Hearing Uecker laugh in the background tells you exactly what kind of man he is👍
Bob Uecker. One of the most naturally funny guys I've ever seen. Always makes me laugh!
Bob Uecker is a legend and an American treasure. Mr. Baseball
I love baseball and have a good sense of humour. Bob Uecker is one guy I’d love to hang out with. Great story from Robin Yount.
I am 55 now and Robin Yount was one of my favorite baseball players ever ! Class all the way and " Clutch " as they come !! ( He was 19 when he made The Show ! )
I'm 56. And he was one of the best of that era. It didn't get much better than Robin yout, He doesn't get as much appreciation as he deserves. I would easily put him in the top 25 players of all time and for me personally probably top 15
Saw Robin Yount in the final regular season game in Baltimore 1982. Yount took Jim Palmer deep to right and I knew that are chances weren't that good that we could sweep the Brewers. It was a heck of a series. And the cherry on top was it was Earl Weaver's last game before he retired. Nobody would leave. It was an incredible tribute to Weaver. I'll never for get it.
What a class act! I met Mr. Yount, 25 years ago in spring training. The nicest and most genuine baseball player, I have ever met.
That's wHat Baseball is all about, characters, some good, some bad. Life
Outstanding story of Bob Uecker told by Robin Yount.
I'm a Giants fan. Love Bob Uecker, who the Hell doesn't ?, " I must be in the front row ".
Bob is a perfect example of why baseball is America's game and our national pass time. Baseball makes us all one big family. No matter where you go throughout America Americans can talk fondly about baseball.
Some people are just universally loveable. Yount is right, you can't explain it but you know it. What a great guy.
Think him and Bob had some beers before the speech lol. I'm from Detroit...glad they didn't get shot lol. Me and my DAD RIP are big Bob Uecker fans. Very humble, funny man. All around class act. We have Ernie Harwell, Milwaukee has Bob Uecker...what a treasure. I root for the Brewers just because of Mr. Uecker. You all like beer too lol. Be good
In 1983, my son and I went to an autograph signing at a shoe store. Paul Molitor and Robin Yount were there signing autographs. The line was almost a block long out the door and probably another block long inside. Eventually Molitor left for batting practice but Robin refused to leave until every kid in that line got his autograph. I believe he stayed 2 hours past the end time for the autograph session.
Saturday night live early years best skits
Still have the autograph?

What a guy, gotta love him, thank you Mr. Baseball!
Great story. Great baseball player. Great announcer.
Typically when a story starts with, "We were in Detroit...", it doesn't end well, unless you're with Bob Uecker.
Ha.... yes your very right in detroit you dont know who's going to kill you ,the gangs or the police. ...and most of the stories can't be told
According to Gorman Thomas this incident happened in Boston only the cop was on a horse. Knowing the '82 group, it probably happened on more than one occasion.
Uecker was one of the funniest non comedian comedians ever. I use to love watching him on Carson as a guest. I wouldn't stop laughing. One funny guy and a great story teller.
He was great on Mr Belvedere
@@ericthomas917 Yes he was. I had forgotten about that. I'm going to try and bring some of that show up on RUclips. Thanks.
What do you mean was, he still is.
@@ThekiBoran Dude's 89 and still broadcasting.
Funny story.
I can remember when Robin Yount was an 18-year-old rookie playing shortstop in the MLB in 1973.
Damn I am old.
Great story...the ball players back in the day had a good time.
Miller Park has 3 statues... Hank Aaron, Robin Yount, and Bob Uecker. I think Paul Molitor should have one too.
If i recall they have another dedicated to the workers killed when Miller Park was still being built
simplygu You forgot Bud Selig
as a Toronto fan.. id agree ..Molitor was great.
Uecker has two statues there.
@Shannon Greene you are a legend. i would go with my dad as a kid in the 80s, that was quite the place. In the 90s I went but more to wrigley field as it was historic and I was also a cubs fan since they never played each other back then.
Best announcer in baseball!!
Young has a great sense of humor
The most amusing thing might have been an empty stadium but yet the use of a microphone and a PA system.
Bob Uecker is a National Treasure 😂
great story, uke is one of a kind, loved by everyone. just one thought tho, how sad that one would feel lucky for not being thrown in jail for doing nothing illegal... but you have to admit it crossed your mind that was going to happen.
Ueck's deadpan humor rubbed off on Robin.
He entered the majors at age 19. Many of us started our lives at age 19.
Your perception of that situation may be different than others
Do you know how old Bobbie grich was he signed with the Orioles when I met him we were in the Marine at camp le jeune1970 nc he rode in my car 442
Personally, I started my life at zero
If they were staying at the Sheraton Cadillac, they were probably marching down Michigan Avenue.
Euk was the Rodney Dangerfield of baseball.......NO RESPECT
My favorite line: "uecker! Go up to bat and end this rally!" CLASSIC!!!
He looks like The dude.
LOL!!!!
That's a compliment.
drunk Robin Yount telling Bob Uecker stories will never not be great
Hearing Norm Macdonald and Artie Lang tell Uecker stories, I bet this one features some (a lot) profanities also.
Great Story!!!
robin was a hell of a player and sorta looks and sounds like kris kristofferson in this vid
Awesome
He's avoided prosecution for 8 decades + because he's simply an animal too glorious to be caged.
Why are all the seats empty??
Angelic curly hair.
Cool story
Mr baseball
Do they still have that statue in the nose bleed section?
Bob Uecker was very funny but rarely laughed or smiled.
That was part of his bit.. Straight faced deadpan the whole way.. He's one of the best at it.. Johnny Carson tried and tried to make him break character but could never do it.. There's a lecture on here somewhere with Bob talking about his appearances on the Tonight Show.. If you're a fan of the Ueck then you should watch it.. I'm a die hard cubs fan from back in the Harry Carrey days.. I used to watch Brewers games though just to listen to Bob talk..
How he could sit with Johnny and tell all these funny things and not even crack a smile I'll never know.
😂😂
love uke, and i don't think he'd object to this, because he'd help protect black players during the early years, like bernie sanders he's been a stand up guy from day one, but this is a good example of a "white privilege" that most white people (myself included) take for granted. a black bob uecker doesn't get away with this.
You are an example of what is wrong in today's world. What a putz.
@@williamshea4425 "love it or leave it" amiright? "racism is so american that when you protest against it, people think you're protesting against america."
A Black Bob Uecker probably would have been mayor of Detroit
@@johnlyda3119 if he survived detroit police.
LOL
Last time I watch one of your videos...
To many COMMERICALS at the beginning..bye,bye
