thank you for sharing! i'm thinking of furthering my studies in sports and exercise science and this gave me a better perspective on how it's like and make a more informed decision 😊
I am in a dilema of whether I should further my studies to. Am at Kenyatta university in Kenya and in Kenya there's no such opportunities for exercise and sports science
I am a sport science major student from Hong Kong. In HK there are only few university offer sport-related degree, as most of them are mainly aim for training a qualified P.E. teacher, even with the sport science or sport management degree. The society in HK always thinks that sport science/ sport-related major are only for people who are not getting a good result in the pubic exam, but in HK sport science is also a degree that difficult to get in which is others unexpected. They think that it is easy to get a good GPA in our major, but it is not. We got a good GPA is only because we are really passionate on what we are studying. People always think that we(sport-related major students) would only be a P.E. teacher or coach, as we also have a professional knowledge and training in our field. Although the study content may not deep as other program around the world, nearly all topic related to sport and exercise(e.g. biomechanics, psychology, physiology, sociology, sport management etc.) we need to learnt though our university years. It is upset for us, as you when people saying our degree as a 'worthless' degree. Our major is not only for being a coach or a teacher, our major is also a professional degree, although it may not give us a good career path directly. As there are lots stereotype/ misconception on sport major students, but we know that we are also not easy to finish our degree. Thank you for sharing your experience and clarify misconception, wish your video can help more people who want to study with sport major or understand what sport major is actually doing. sorry for messy writing
Yet in terms of a long term career I think I’d like to either be a PE teacher at college talking about modules ,yet I’m thinking of physiotherapy but I’d need to do a lot of research into that area
Sounds like you have a lot of options that you are open to do. I was definitely just sit down and compare all of theses courses to see which is better suited to you.
I am not sure sorry, i imagine there are more similarities than differences to the degrees. medical science sounds like you would go into a deeper physiological level then I did during my studies.
