I think you've given me the answer I was looking for - whilst replacing control arm today I turned the hub and the drive shaft seems to have popped out, even though I haven't touched the hub nut! It's a job I've done before on a previous VW Golf MK4 and this didn't happen. Thanks.
Interesting, I did 1 of these cv replacements on a van before and it was a pig of a job. Lots of bashing with a hammer. Another 1 to do soon. Just wondering but, that bol't you're using to push it off. Is this the same bolt that's used to hold the cv joint in place, or another 1 you had lying around?
It's the same bolt. I recognised that pink stuff . Just took one out . I badly need a gun cos I had to use ten foot bar of scaffold as a lever and a sledge hammer to tap the end of it lol.
A guy needs help doing this. And his a Mechanic he so rough fitting and hammering almost hurt my fingers while im holding for him For the old CV joint coming out 😮
