Dc has carbon cap and ar cone options tho. Plus you can pick the color. I feel the db4 is more burp box spl sub. The dc ive been in are real windy and also are nice because they only require 1.5 cubes of air space. So it bangs hard in a small box. Its kind of even between the 2 you have give or take on them in the pros and cons section.

I had a pair of some of the first ever DC Audio Lvl 4 18's back when LVL 4 was the top of the line and they lasted me for years with zero issues.
Db4 I love the carbon fiber and the mounting ring is pretty dope and that motor is so sick it looks like a straight monster it looks more modern as well
Deaf Bonce db4. All day errrrrryyyyy no question. Why....I have honestly never personally experienced Deaf Bonce and would not mind at all ;-) ;-) The Oregon car audio scene leaves a lot to be desired. TC Sounds/Audio Pulse Axis with matched passive rads, soundqubed 2200 mono block, Eclipse 3-way 6.5", MBQuart 4ch and some other better 4-chanel I can't even remember the name of. I did model the box with passive rads and tuned the mass. The big 3 are a must, 2200 requires extra charging, so it's all the wiring, high output alt, extra bats, etc, and I just don't have it in me to deal with it for now. Sound deadening is also an issue, becasue I can't stand the rattles, and pulling everything apart, just fuck it, I'm not doing it.
BigSmartArmed I hear you it is allot of work. I have been looking into getting one bank of six xs power super caps to eliminate the need for an extra battery and alt. They are a blessing for car audio these days..
They both are good performers. I would try the DB4 since I've had DC already and DB has been impressing me a ton. Plus a lot of companies use the DC type platform... Time for change. For the price and 3,500 rms though, I'd get the Fi SP4 for way less money. I have them currently.
What's the foam surround that large on the DC Audio you have to be getting a smaller comb then the deaf bonce so I would assume the deaf bonce can move more air

They're both quality subs, it's all about application and preference. I would go with DC though, because I have a smaller car and DC doesn't require as much box space. Plus I've seen video of ppl in agonizing pain due to those DCs lol

DB4 I've seen people beat the absolute snot out of those subs. Over powering and acting like they wanted more. A guy in a show up here in NC had 4 15 DB4s and 4 nendo 5500s. I swear the car was falling apart but those subs were screaming gimmie summo lol
The question is which one can move more air and handle the most power and still sound the best... I would choose the best quality and reliability when you are dropping that much 💲💲
Dieselman40 the DC is gonna be better on the lows and the DB is gonna do higher numbers. It really comes down to what your end goal is if you want to compete go DB if you want to daily lows or demo some lows then do the DC.
Tammy Forbes I mean it does depend on the parameters to say which one plays the lows better, that dc does look like it can play lower but the lower the fs the lower the sub can play without losing too much control over the cone, that db surprisingly has a fs of 32hz, usually when you go up in power the fs goes up as the same of the stiffness of the spider although i couldnt find the parameters for the level 5

Ferrite ring diameter over height for stronger motor force. More efficient cooking design with the Alphard also. Not to mention more room for excursion with the Dead bounce motor design. DC was never my favorite brand anyway, but Dead Bounce just sound better in a daily scenario IMO. The never models with proprietary coil sizes isn't a great feature though.

I have an XL M2 with 2015 stamped on the cone. The coils ohm out a little different but it still sounds great

IMO- Standard mount- DB4, invert mount- Level 5, SQL- Level 5, SPL- DB4, though there's not much in it.
