      We had the 250... a wrecker, a leaky, reeky bag of bolts... but had many a good day on it all the same, felt like plenty of power being a 12 13 and 14 year old nipper.😉👍

      @@bubbalovesoatmealadventure108 the XR... what can I say... just a good bike all round, going by the bigger ones I have came across, I see a couple of XR125s going round my town just now, an older one and a later model.

    Yeah a 79' XL 185. I have the 79' XL 500 I got from a hauling job I took 200 off there bill and they gave it to me. Runs good but I have to do a Wizard tune but I'm not quite the Wizard like your Wizard..

    I have this bike that I use to take up in the mountains looking for abandon mines. its a great hill climber if geared correctly. mine has all the blinkers, taillight and newer parts to make it look mint. only thing I dont like about it is when taking it road riding it feels like theres not enough gears. should of been a 6 speed instead of a 5.

    I OWNED THAT EXCAT BIKE BUT UK SPEC, ONLY DIFFERENCE IS FRONT MUDGUARD IS LOWER, A TRIAL BIKE TYPE, AND THE EXHAUST DIDN'T HAVE A SPARK ARRESTER, great bike for green lanes and off-road, modern off-road bikes are just too heavy, to awkward and not nimble enough, I see people struggling to do anything more than ride on a road with a gravel surface, on these you can ride off trail, ride through forests, through rivers, go where no other bike has been before, they will go anywhere, and never ever breakdown, oil change them every 3000 miles, if a Chinese firm produced these sales would be off the scale, ultra-cheap production costs and cloned engines by Shinray etc LED lighting CDI, keep the drum brakes, they're all these bikes need, I could lift my back wheel with the front drum,

    do you need a battery to run that xl185?

    • @winksongs
      @winksongs Год назад

      I have the 1980 version. I took the battery out a couple of years ago. It starts and runs fine.
      Admittedly I have no indicators but I run headlight, tail light and horn okay.
      Kick starts without needing a battery.

    Still a two valve

    • @jonmccormick8683
      @jonmccormick8683 2 года назад +1

      The 2 valve is actually preferred and you can really rev the hell out of them. XR200 etc.
      Compared to the XL100/125 the 185 has way more suspension. XL200 full-size is pretty rare.
