- In this episode of Hermitcraft, PearlescentMoon expands the post office with a new Lost Parcels office... Turns out it was a good choice to make, as a certain Grian is already challenging the postal system.
We also add a starter bone block shop to the shopping district in the hope to make some diamonds!

You should make a lost parcel recovery form, where the first question is "is your name Grian?", and if the answer is yes then give him an annex form that makes him do the most unhinged tasks in order to receive his parcel back.

It's the same with Iskall too, even majority of the other hermits tbh. All sound decently sane in their own videos but once you see them from another perspective, it's real funny

I don't know what you're talking about Grian not seeming unhinged. Especially this season, he has been more than a little crazy.
My favorite is watching other POVs of Grian. Like that time a few seasons back when he just was walking around with a hunched back. Season 5 or 6 I think? Not saying anything. Just creeping.

It worked out great for the Post Office though, if Grian will follow through and issue a stamp hermit permit after Mumbo's mailbox is installed. Apparently, Grian doesn't accept bribes, but he will accept favors...

...the first "mail system" in Hermitcraft was just between grian and mumbo, so it just makes sense than they would end up mailing eachother again.
The fact that Grian has been staunchly refusing all bribes and begging by other Hermits in an attempt to get him to help with their permit problems, but is making a singular exception that he came up on his own, _just_ so that he can get a proper messaging system with Mumbo is the most Grian thing I've ever seen since he made that weird summoning circle in an attempt to bring Mumbo back from his vacation when he was going through Mumbo withdrawls.
I've seen Grian's episode, in the time between running off and Pearl catching up with his stamps, he said that he could put in a word, but beyond that it would probably still require a ton of paperwork.

How ironic is it that Grian, the perpetrator of the least Hermit-friendly establishment of the shopping district, is demanding immediate service for a package which probably went awry due to his own failure to follow the rules? It would serve him right if you put him on hold.
The truck is very cute! And don't let anyone razz you for using diorite. It's perfectly appropriate for this build.

Pearl and Grian are each others yin and yang as government employees. She’s competent and on the job, meanwhile Grian just makes his government experience a nightmare.

So I love how this season we have Grian with his DMV like government building, Pearl and her governement Post Office building; Not sure if the Post Office is considered Federal Government across the pond or down in Australia, but it is considered Federal in the US. We know need someone to build like an FBI, MI5/6 style of agency for the server.
Also gem saying "I am nothing like Grian" is peak comedy when those 2 have been causing Scar chaos with those 2 snails of theirs. This season, Gem and Grian have such strong chaotic sibling energy, messing with Scar.

The mail system is one of my favorite things to come out of Hermitcraft due to the interactivity it encourages. I really hope it becomes a tradition in future seasons too.

there's no way etho is gonna put this much work recreating the same entire system again next season. i think we can expect something totally different but just as crazy though

Honestly same. It doesn't seem to ultra intensive (at least by hermit craft standards), and it seems like its really going to connect everyone in such a unique day
I think it would be funny if Pearl's twin sister Opalescentmoon ran the lost mail section. And they never are together in one place and just yell back and forth in the post office.
Kinda like a cheesey British comedy.

Also add a policy that if not collect within 15 minutes of opening, items are now property of the Post Office

You should make a hidden passage way from the main office to lost parcels. When someone comes to the main office you can direct them to lost parcel, and then run through the passage to beat them there... and change skins and pretend you are a different pearl.

Love the contrast of Pearl taking her Post Master duties very seriously, while Grian takes his permit duties about as seriously as a cartoon character.

Someone needs to prank Grian by replacing the audio disc in his mailbox with one that says "You've got snail."
Or even better, a randomizer with several regular "You've got mail" discs and ONE "You've got snail" disc, like the thing that made the DO2 Yeti rarely say "Hi, I'm Cleo" instead of roaring. That way, any time someone hears "snail" and puts another item in to verify "what did I just hear?" it will play the normal disc.
Hi Pearl. 6 months ago one of your s9 episodes randomly popped up in my feed. I had never played minecraft, or ever really seen a minecraft vid. Im 40 years old, so my feed is usually packed with documentaries, arts and hobbies, and older video game content.
But i watched anyway, and instantly got hooked by the way you guys turn the builds into art. You and Gem quickly became my faves due to your styles and banter. All the others are great too.
I have since spent the last months playing and learning minecraft in solo play, and using your styles to learn the artistic side. Its a lot of fun.
I have also pretty much binged every hermits s10 vids this year, and its been great. It makes me want to find a group of people to play with and make new friends.
So thankyou for the inspiration :) from one aussie to another, keep those yanks and brits honest 😊
It makes me happy hearing about people getting into MC in their adult life, that’s so cool! Hope you find a good group to play with too, I think multiplayer can be an even better experience

@@markgregory983 My preferred way to find smaller communities is through r/mcservers. It's helpful to get an impression of the culture in a community before joining blindly. I'd recommend looking at 18+ servers with whitelist so you can filter out the less pleasant and mature players.
This explains SO much about why Grian was using Mumbo stamps as stationary.

11:11 Suggestion: if you end up actually putting them in the hermits bases costumize them to where the hermits live IRL. For example in the US they are blue i think and here in germany we have yellow post- boxes.

Here in Australia, it varies, but many are red so it works
Iskall is swedish and they have yellow boxes for private mail too
Maybe Etho mentioned this already, but it's possible X's package was temporarily lost because a chunk loader failed, and it only got delivered when someone else mailed something or when you loaded that bit of the Nether in. Etho was saying that he'd been having some issues with the chunk loaders...
Grians lost parcels would be a good test for the mail systems concurrent delivery, to see if a Hermit(Grian) can spam someone(Mumbo) with as many "Property of Hermit Post Co." Branded shulker boxes.
I think in one of tangos vids/vods he mentioned there were fail-safes for that.

The mailbox system has to be one of my favourite ideas to come out of Hermitcraft, it's so cool with and smart with the redstone but got such a human element that brings everyone together too!
However I do feel for Pearl, she's like the teacher at a Kindergarten having to look after all the Hermits (Grian) as they try their hardest to break the system and won't listen to instructions or wait for the stamps! so much work! well done Pearl, brilliant episode again!

It’s fascinating to watch all the different POVs of how Grian’s first attempt at using the post system worked out haha. Gem’s package that Pearl was following in the Nether was probably the initial end-busting invite. And Gem coming to the post office to get more Grian stamps explains why it took so long for Gem to reply to Grian lmao the interaction are wonderful

The idea that theres a truck just driving around looking for a place to park and sell some BONES is a bit unsettling 😆 (sweet build btw!)

For the American Hermits you should place a blue postbox instead of the UK red postbox. Same banner pattern on the front, just blue on 2 blue wool blocks.

You should build post delivery vans all over the world. The British ones look kinda iconic, but you can vary them with the most wacky all terrain vehicles, submarines, airdrop planes, etc.

It makes me really happy watching Pearl's past and newer Hermitcraft episodes as comparison, cause you can hear her "calm and witty Australian voice" in her earliest Hermitcraft S8 videos. Now in her S10 one's she's just "outback goblin noises". Marvelous.

I know Minecraft doesn’t have these physics, but the building has a car included and looks realistic.
That’s why it is bugging me a bit, that it is perfectly build to be a real life water reservoir without a little more flood

Right, so back in the early 1900s we did a little experiment with banning alcohol. Prohibition turned out to be a terrible idea, and the speakeasy was one of the focal points. A speakeasy was a bar in the basement of a big building downtown, with exactly that type of dark, quiet alleyway entrance. They were called "speakeasy" because you were supposed to keep the noise down to avoid attracting attention from the authorities (and grumpy neighbors). Of course, since it was by definition a No Police Zone (well . . . maybe corrupt cops), it became a zone of all kinds of illegal activity. Of course there was the booze delivery, but booze quickly became the territory of the various crime syndicates (the Mob, etc). Once there's organized crime, you'll then have gambling, and gun dealing, and other contraband dealing, and probably other worse stuff.
And then movies romanticize it all afterwards 🙂

You missed an opportunity with the bone shop, instead of a truck you could have made a hearse. But you still have an opportunity to make a funeral home, or chapel maybe, as the permanent shop.

If you manage to get to a point where you have a lot of lost unclaimed parcels you could recreate those tv shows where storage rooms would get auctioned.
Create little shipping containers with stuff from those lost parcels spread out, maybe some shulckers and other storage or hanged items. Maybe add some secret items hidden or prank items/false items using custom models like those fake diamonds (sticks with different model)I saw in another video.
The hermits can look from outside the container and bid for it like in those shows. Could be very fun for both streaming and youtube.
If you like the idea but don’t want to use other hermit’s lost parcels (understandable) you could just do it with fake lost parcels and fill the containers yourself
For the bone shop, you should make a big wither skeleton farm. They give an insane amount of bones. This output of bones could make you rich as bone blocks are a nice block. For now, 2 diamonds are good for 32 blocks, but with a wither skeleton farm you could do 1 diamond per stack.

I know you might not be entirely interested in that, but you can actually fully automate granite production. You can craft granite from diorite + nether quartz, and you can craft 2x diorite from 2x cobble and 2x quartz. Using autocrafters, a cobble generator with tnt duper and gold farm with barter farm for quartz, you can 100% automate it. You can also semi-automate it, if you were to prefer mining for quartz instead of granite and had some ungodly amount of cobble (which many people often do) and just create a machine to process cobble + quartz into granite. It costs 2 quartz and 1 cobble to make 1 granite, which isn't the cheapest but if you were to acquire a diorite permit as well, then it might be a reasonable thing to do to set up a production like this.

Later on, Gem went to the post office to buy Grian stamps cuz she didn't have any. (By this time, Grian is complaining that the mail system is so slow, maybe slower than the Permit Office -- but it's just Gem not being able to reply cuz she didn't have any stamps for him.)
This is why I love watching every pov. It ties everything that's happening.

Pearl's government job next season should be librarian. Make a library with the new bookcases. The books inside contain the lore of the server

Was so blown away and excited when you mentioned this season you were doing a Solarpunk theme!! Been following the concept (and also learning) for a while, you bringing this to MC is a major win to the movement!❤

For the bone blocks id say either 1 diamond for 16, or 3 diamonds for 64. id lean towards 3 for 64.
I love this season so much.. as much as the permits can be frustrating, people having "jobs" is SO COOL. In older seasons, shops seemed to be something you set up and forgot about as a viewer, but this season people have embraced it.. the Doc/Beef/Skizz wood shops fiascos, Cub's firework theming, Cleo's rules-skirting kitty café. And the fisherman, Grian manning the municipal permit office as a side job (and the dubiously legal Sales trophies shop next door). And of course, postmaster Pearl E. Moon, postal network technicians Etho Slab and Tango Tek; the Hermit Postal Service, which just came up because.. people thought it would be cool.
Genuinely love it all, I'm so jealous I'll never have enough friends who are active enough to do this.. this is what I wished I could do as a kid, too!
