Friend, after the update on 10/02/2024 this rack -lightmapcpu was disabled and does not work... Is there a way to create another way to compile the map since my CPU does not have Ray Tracing?
@@ddesenha replace the resource compiler exe and the dll inside the game bin win64 folder with a copy from the previous version, might need other files too. I don't have a backup of the previous version but I do have a really old one that might work MAYBE?
You're a life saver! I just quit making source 2 maps a few days ago because of this, but now I just checked my notifications on my mobile and out of nowhere you fixed my problems! Thanks man.
source has this functionality kinda built in already (VMPI), it is ALLEGEDLY included in source 2 but I haven't gotten it to work. It is possible though!
I have a rx 7800xt. When I use texture I can't compile at all and gpu path tracing crashes(Light mapper didn't return valid triangles: failing.). But with dev texture it works fine.. How?
thanks for the video. I do have 1060 6gb GPU which says that it has ray tracing, so not even sure why I get this message. However I still get the message "Required map is missing from your client" after I do what you say. I been receiving this message every time I try to launch the map even before. You know how to fix that?
it could be the compile is failing so the map is never built, check your game/csgo_addons/addonname/maps folder to see if there is a vpk with your map name in there. if it is you can also try the console command map_workshop addonname mapname which I forgot to mention in this vid lol
can confirm -lightmapcpu still working as of the latest build in 2024 on my GTX 1650 laptop :D. though idk why the light probes are not showing ingame probably i just suck at mapping
probably cant get the answer here but worth a try.. i have kind of opposite problem. i HAVE rtx card, but the damn hammer tells me "must run with -gpuraytracing to bake preview lighting" when i try to do anything else but the normal building. like i cant preview the lighting at the editor.
Hi! A bit off-topic since I don't need to do this process, but is it necessary to change the output directory if you have a RTX gpu? And how to change it? I have an issue with the compiler never acually finishing although at the end of the compile process, someone mentiond that the directory the compiler saves the .vpk file migh be an issue. I watched your videos on the deeper dive to try to find some more info on the compiler, lots of good info on the tools though. :) I like!
it shouldn't matter but you can try it just by changing the output directory and manually running the compile like I do in this vid. also test with one of the known working template maps to make sure it isn't your map breaking stuff
Thanks for the awesome guide, however in the compiling option I ticked the minimap-related options, would it get built if we ran the compiling through an external shell like this?
when you set your options it SHOULD add those options to the command line params so make sure you set them first before copying the command and editing it to run externally.
@@ShyStudios So I tested it out and the cmd didn't change no matter whether the option is ticked or not, which is quite sad because perhaps that option is only available on load (when compiled normally) Anyway without a minimap is still way better than having nothing at all, so thanks.
@@kairosfw oh you know what, I ALSO can't get mini maps to compile for whatever reason, it IS a post load command you can re-run in console but it will just give you an error IDK how to fix it

if that's the case you might be able to use the resource compiler from the previous version

came for the fix, stayed for the interesting and funny commentary
Thanks dude! My hero.👍
It brings me to an in-game loading screen then kicks me to the main menu and says 'required map is missing on your client'. What's the problem
try running the map with the map_workshop command, or maybe your map didn't compile correctly/ didn't get placed in the right folder.
Someone should make a online service to compile your maps online via Cloud GPU

This GPU Only baking thingy is total BS. I can get proper Light in SandBox and it looks just as good as CS 2 without a RTX card.
how many drives do you have to achive the T drive like i mean e: drive is ok but like a t drive what is bro storing in there??
lol bro, you can just set your drives to any letter.
@ShyStudios bruh i though it was incremented every new drive :D
"env_combined_light_probe_volume" does not working! dynamic objects are still black in shadows, how to fix this?
I have the same problem. Did you find a solution?

You mean RTX 2060 gpu? Because that's the lowest gpu from nvidia that has RT cores. Everything older or below in specs doesn't have rt cores.
@@Mayonez86 i think nvidya has a driver feature that lets some of those cards without rt cores do it, just a lot slower.

Hey, did you run in eny problems lately?
I have this message
VRAD3 - Failed to write scene_info.dat
--> Map build FAILED.
Can you help?
@andrzejtumel5819 yep either they killed lightmapcpu or the compiler is broken af
@@umarkhalish They killed it. They removed VRAD2 which did things on the cpu and now they force everyone to use VRAD3 which does things on rtx.

that's weird, might be a driver issue or maybe hammers config is busted. Does real time path tracing work in the 3d preview?
I see no difference in build between the two as if we were doing nothing..😢
For me that fails the build

Hello, I have black shadows after compilation, what is the reason for this, I don't know who to contact, maybe you can tell me how to fix it
no clue but maybe you should post about it on the mapcore forums im sure someone there can help
help, i cant open powershell in the folder
Shift Right click. Don't just right click
