So, the question of "do CS2 run better than CSGO on lower hardware ?" remain, I was expecting an answer to this question, we all know how it's important to have 300+ fps on CSGO, but that's mainly because of the spaghetti code from CSGO 10+ years after, it's unconsistant so we NEED that headroom to, as you say, buffer problematic scenarios.
You tested a 680, I do know from experience that a 770 is 300+ fps or 200-250fps on newer maps, BUT, the smokes are actually killing the FPS so bad when you are in one, this is changing the game now with CS2, as we don't know how it run on such scenario with old graphic cards.
CS2 run with lower FPS, but it might actually runs better than CSGO on 200fps, on par with other games that don't run like dogshit like CSGO do when you are around 100-140fps.
So far I think no one answered that yet :/, I dont need it, I have a 3070 now, but I know a lot of people do want to know that, that would be cool to test the feeling (stutters, low %1 as you tested, performances with explosions, smokes etc.) rather than just the FPS.

I really hope you will also make a "CS2 vs older CPUs" because as a i5 6600 user with radeon r9 380x I am really wondering if a GPU upgrade would be enough in order to get higher fps.

My pc works fine right now for csgo (i7-4790 @3.6Ghz, GTX 980 and 12gb of ram) been "stuck" on this system for years now as its the newest gpu my mobo will allow, and i've had many other more urgent spendings to have had to spend my money on. As a student, now graduate and just started working, I didn't have a lot of money to just upgrade my system. Especially since my system worked perfectly fine handling game editors like UE4, 5 and other 3D software that can get quite heavy like houdini. Now I agree with you that you shouldn't expect old systems/cards to work just as well on cs2, but some people are just not in a situation to have the mindset of "it's time to upgrade". It's different for everyone

@@3kliksphilip Weird it just disappeared again, but this time i copied it before i sent so here you go again: Weird, I tried twice and twice my comment was gone the next day... Roughly what I said was that I made an error, it was supposed to say that my mobo can't handle a newer cpu, but I also checked the mobo compatabilities with graphics cards and the only ones I would be able to upgrade to are 1060 Ti, 1070/80 or some of the Titan cards (checked through the official MSI website by searching the mobo and then going through compatability, I'll refrain from sending a link again because I guess that's why it got deleted? But my mobo is B85M-E43 DASH so you can check it under support>compatability>vga). However, I actually very much doubt that they would work in reality as my current card is almost too big for the mobo as it's blocking the locks from the ram ports in place already and I'm guessing the other cards are bigger seeing as they're newer. So yeah, just holding on to my good ol' pc, hoping it will survive while i save up now that I'm earning money :D

@@3kliksphilip Oh ok fair enough! And yeah indeed my case is quite small and it barely fits my gpu, but I actually also do mean the graphics card itself is locking my ram slots/locks in place. If I want to add/remove ram, i need to first take out my gpu

Still rocking the vega 56 I got for 200€ in 2019 and its still pretty good even in more demanding games. Unfortunately there are still no better cards at this price point. Mine does not have coil whine that bad, but the blower fan itself is quite loud, so if you get a used one I would also recommend one with normal fans. Also try undervolting it, as that can give about 10% performance increase at the same power.

Yep, Vega 56 is still holding strong to this day! I am looking to upgrade, but it's still good enough to where i keep looking at it and thinking "I'll just wait to see what comes out next gen, i'm in no rush". Tho, assuming AMD doesn't completely screw up with the RX7700/RX7800, it'll probably be replaced soon. The coil-whine will be missed :(

I'm suprised the new source 2 engine runs so well. Most titles that run on current modern engines run like shit I can see some good programmers made this engine. I guess because its previous purpose was to run VR games, it had to have been so well optimized to be able to have games that look great but also be playable at 120fps 4k resolutions on vr headsets. This engine has so much potential, because it is very modern, They utilize the latest technology and optimizations techniques, unlike other engines which are built on a very old base and are flooded with unnessesary crap.
