I had the opportunity to check out the Rolex Watches at the Dubai Airport again.
This is the store where I bought my Submariner and could find a nice selection not too long ago.

I am an ex emirates employee. Back in 2015 I used to see submariners lined up for sale. During my crib break I used to finish my food quickly just to go around and check watches out. If ever i knew that Rolex market would be so messed up, I would have saved up and bought one. Now I can easily afford a Rolex but I can’t find them in AD. What a tragedy 😩.
Thanks for your airport videos, always reminds me of the days I used to work there, day in day out 12 hour shifts. Lot of memories.
Always worth expressing interest in display only watches. I bought two exhibition Datejusts over the last year. Just a tip. Don't ask outright to buy but engage the SA and show him/her how much you like the watch. Dubai airport is probably going to be one of the last places on Earth to feel the recession but it is happening. Thanks for the update.

Buying a Rolex from the AD is easy compared to buying a Patek lol.
You could take that $50,000 cash and help keep the gray dealers employed when they get their watches probably from the AD to begin with. The great Rolex market cycle.
No one’s forced to buy a fake Rolex. They just can’t afford the grey market price.
Fake Rolex buyers are generally wannabes that can't afford the real thing.
Grabbed an OP 41 black face last week in the other terminal. Price paid pretty similar to UK retail but even those aren’t available in London.
Nowadays playing hard to get is marketing 101 at major colleges, that's what they teach to build a brand just try walking into Luis vouton, channel, Hilton hotels etc... but deep inside they are dying for our TLC (i.e. US$). May I suggest to stop asking about Rolex anymore and just focus on the brands that do like us!! let those girls play among themselves... don't get me wrong.

Back in 2018 I was at the Dubai Airport Rolex dealer and have seen almost 100 watches on display. Most of them were DJ models in Gold with dismonds. The few watches on display now... it's a joke

I don’t think you can find ADs/Boutiques located inside airports selling AP, PP, or VC. Not even in DXB, HKG, SIN, LHR, or JFK. These brands are on another level catering to a niche market.

I’ll never understand display only in an airport.
I was traveling through T1 DxB on July 28. I was able to grab 41mm SS datejust on oyster bracelet with black dial for 30900aed.
i am guessing a smooth bezel?
All the tudors are same price on uk high street and in stock now no wait list now .

Rolex is for VIP clients, Tudor is for everyone else. That's the business model now, many luxury brands do this.
Really enjoyed this update please don't stop doing these videos they are very useful. I've switched off on Rolex, not because they want me to beg for a watch, I switched off because they are now way over priced for what you get even if you could buy at retail. My new omega is very nice and I'm happy with the price for what I received.

If its Rolex and the hands are set to 10:10 then it’s display only. If they are random time the they are a real watch. The only way to stop it at that time would be to pull out the crown to time setting position or if it’s non functional display model.

Watching this video floods me with nostalgia. It was in this very store that I acquired my inaugural Rolex timepiece, which marked the beginning of a collection that has grown over the years. Specifically, it was the Rolex OP 39 114300 Rhodium Dial, a model that has since been discontinued. Remarkably, it continues to hold a special place in my heart and, coincidentally, I'm currently sporting it as I compose this comment. I've never had the same stroke of luck when visiting this or other Rolex boutiques located in airports since that memorable purchase.

Very nice video. I travel through Dubai on the way to and from Jakarta and my first stopover point tends to be the Irish pub for a nice cold pint of Guinness after 12 hours in the air! 😂 However when I do look at the watches, I usually look for a nice Grand Seiko or a Tudor. Rolex isn't quite my style, however it seems to be just as frustrating getting a Rolex want there as it is anywhere else.

I think still got many good brands. Its not wise to waste time asking n begging for the watch available. If everyone keep asking that Xxxx brand , the price will keep jumping up . From the video I feel that no customer service at all . For me I won't waste my time n help them promote . I have a seiko watch for over 20 years still working well . I bought it less than US200. I never even do service or check up 20 years . Just every 1.5 year change battery only

Apparently they won’t let you try them as they are brand new and will eventually get sent back to Rolex so they can sell them via their Pre Owned Program.
Imagine being an employee there where you’re paid to tell people they can’t try on a watch.
I bought a Rolex Sub at Bangkok Airport and a JLC at Hong Kong Airport pre-Covid. Pity what has happened to the market. I still look the airport stores to pass time, but alas, no inventory!

I Had much better luck in Bahrain Rolex Duty Free. They did have Hot models for sale including a Yachmaster but I did not buy as I had one already.
Duty free is non negotiable so you’d actually get a better price if you asked at your AD for a discount.
Do you mind sharing with us how you make your living? Very few of us have the extra money to buy watches at yer speed.... Thank you

These are not “display watches”. A real display watch (no movement) is always set to 10:10.

What kind of F'ed up company has stores that don't sell anything?. How does Rolex stay in business when they only make watches but don't sell them?. This is a strange business model that appears to only work for them. Weird.
I don't understand the mentality of so many people falling for this marketing scheme - making something very desirable by telling you you can't have it. Considering there is $200 worth of parts in this rather gaudy, mass produced watch, they don't have to sell many to be able to afford their snotty attitude.
I was in DXB last year. How many watches did they have? ONE. One single, lonely, tiny lady Datejust in the most gaudy, ugly configuration imaginable. It was legit so sad to see all those watch cushions empty except one.

If gray market and paying absurdly huge added price is the only way to buy it, then it is not considered Luxury in any mean!

If the display says Exhibition piece only, that's a Non working watch they cannot sell you a watch that does not work ...
So a buyer with a "relationship" with the AD gets first picks ..what a ridiculous way to sell watches...it basically tell most potential buyers...F U and those with a relationship can buy a lot of watches and sell them on...its insane
Basically, it's all about the relationship. This is now standard for pretty much all of the highest end, extremely sought-after brands like Patek, Rolex, Hermes, etc.
It is a strategy to make the buyer feel better. This is how the Soviet system worked: you were happy to buy anything because everything was in short supply. People buying into luxury goods shortages today are experiencing what people in ussr felt every day.
I guess I have expensive taste, which sucks in this market. No interesting Rolexes at all (Steel or Precious Metal GMTs, Subs, Daytonas, etc.), no Cal 321 or Snoopy Omegas, etc. No point in even going to the stores, honestly
