I have the same snare. If you’re into trying heads out the Evans hybrid works really well on that drum and if you want to get crazy some 30 strand pure sound wires. Oh Remo Hazy on the bottom. It’s been my favorite combo so far on it. Love that drum
On my 6.5 I have a die-cast hoop on the top and a triple flange on the bottom with Puresound Super 30 snare wires. It's a really nice combo. I agree with @DaisyHeadd666 about general bottom head tuning. 98% of the time I have the bottom head tuned considerably tighter than the top and will adjust the snare bed tuning rods separately as needed. This will give you good snare sensitivity, play-ability and will make tuning the top head easier. Of course there is more than one way to do this but that will be a good starting point.
I usually start all of my snares with a very tight bottom head. On this particular drum the bottom head is quite tight and the top is tuned between a mid and high tuning. I found that worked well with this head combo.
@@Ultimatestudiosinc Thank you very much for the feedback! Great sound, I love your video with Mr Glen SOBEL (drums recorded with Roswell and MicParts microphones)! I have a BB 14x8, I'm going to test the die-cast hoops with it, as well as a Remo P77 Colortone Smoke that I just bought. All the best man, my regards to Glen if you meet him soon! Dave,
Excellent tuning. That's how a deep snare should sound.

Can't beat the classics!
Sounds beautiful

Wow! I Just got a 14x6.5 BB. Any tuning suggestions? Yours sounds incredible! Do you tune bot it? Aprecciate the help!
Whatever you do, make sure you keep the snare side head tighter than the batter. Unless you want that 70's disco punchy snare.
