Curses are removed by mystics in settlements that aren't human. It's also where you find enchanting tables from what I found. 😮
The developer has a youtube channel under the game's name where he talks about different aspects of the dev process. He also seems like a really nice guy.
So glad Splatt is featuring this game so much.
The top reviews I saw also mentioned that, the veteran roguelike appeal aside, they mentioned dev feedback put this miles ahead of any other title.
one of the recent videos about how the ai factions interact is mindblowing. the simulation is extremely complex.
Splat did not mention the game is very early access. It just last week got it's 0.5.0 update. Each update thus far has filled out the world more so in a year I suspect some of these complaints will be resolved. It is very good.
If Splat is playig it,its safe to assume it's in EA lol, the man has a vendetta against full releases
This game looks awesome. I love this type of open world rpg with subtle, but also deep advancement that everything you do adds up a bit at a time to a more powerful everything for your character.
I remember trying this game out after the last time. I tried a druid that focused on summoning to fight, and it made a lot of the early game really easy. Nothing like summoning 6 ranged plants and 3 wolves to fight for you. I wonder if they've changed that...
There's summoning in this game? That moves it from a Probably Buy to a Definitely Buy for me.
@@GC13 I am waiting for the magic update, so far it is only druid magic and it doesn't scale very well, but it is brutally OP at the start
Yes, by letting you summon a bear too
@@LuisEdGm glad you mentioned this, I NEEDZ majik so I'll have to wait for that update
@@LuisEdGm That's an extremely important bit of info, thanks! I think I'll wait until there are a few more updates for this one then. 👍
I get the algorithm will shit on you for having too long of a video, however, and I can only speak for myself, your vids and your stream have introduced me to more new games I love than any other. I wish longer vids would not be disadvantageous, because you really do have some great analyses on indie games and I would love to see more.
I bought this game yesterday when I saw this video, and I'm already up to 10 hours! This is an awesome game. Keep up the good work Splattercat!
This game is so slept on! I wish more people knew about it. I bought it thanks to your previous vid, so I'm very glad to see one more.
This game is really excellent, and is improving continuously. I really recommend it ! The skills progression, the sandbox aspect of it is pretty cool.
And weirdly enough - because of its super tight budget - it is a good concurrent to Stoneshard, even though the latter is also incredible (but so fucking tough !)
Not my usual rpg bag, but the art is a very nice throwback to the dos and commadore days, down to the color saturation! So between that and the level of costumization and open sanbox aspect i can see spending some time in this game
All the skill leveling and unlocks are cool. Would definitely watch a live stream
Ayyy, I got some “rare” cabbage. I’m currently enjoying some while I watch.
So much of this reminds me of Dungeons of Dredmor, one of my all time favourite games
RUclips: splatt, you are only allowed to make 30 minute videos.
any longer and you will be punished.
splatt: owwww!
Basically Stoneshard but better because has a save option
Two thumbs up for getting to the gameplay so quickly. It imho massively improves the "viewability".
2:35 Chased by the axe wielding bandit, the hero paused for a moment... to eat a baked potatoe.
"Why did somebody put a boiled egg in a cabinet?"
Uh... well, considering all the dogs running around, it's probably the only way to keep it safe 😄
This looks like it has depth in spades. Another one to the list!
I like Tales of Maj'Eyal, and this definitely gives that kind of vibe.
ADOM too. Brutally hard games.
I booted up Tales of Maj, finished the game with my first character (lucky I guess? also cautious) and found it just takes way too long overall to finish an adventure and didn't want to start a new one :(
@@alexgalays910how did you beat the master in your first attempt, doesn't sound reasonable
@@Leaf__22 I read a lot about strategy, did all the dungeons so leveled up quite a bit and picked some items; had decent luck with runes. I don't remember the master as being a threat, compared to some vaults I just had to abandon doing.
I was like most i believe excited about Stoneshard, but this has been a stellar game so far! Thanks for all those videos and new games you show
I'm just waiting on full release of stoneshard
@@GameTimeWhy Gonna be waiting a good 5+ years at least
@@Woeboez really? Oh haha i should have waited then.
@@GameTimeWhy Stoneshard are THE worst developers. I feel like they just gave up on the project. They have added such tiny things after FOUR years of development.
@@botousai They had issues with covid and the war after that (they are from russia and ukraine, if you can believe it), so it makes sense. It's still a shame though
Another game inspired by Enchanted Cave. Looks decent, but I still haven't seen game that did it better than EC2
Ya gotta be able to see changes in gear & threads. I'm with you, Splat; it's a line in the sand. And surely it comes up sometime while making the game ... SOMEONE said "Naaaah, just keep the character boring and consistent during gameplay. Paper Doll is fine." WUT =^..^=
I immediately thought of the "Dark Sun" (TSR) PC games which isn't a bad thing ;)
Will this game have companions? This game definitely seems difficult alone.
Very interesting, nice playthrough, thanks for the video
My favorite Rogue-like is ADOM... my most memorable death is when I got sick of constantly dying before I could even get anywhere in the game, so I decided to play as a troll. I got pretty far... until I ran into a room full of ghosts. The ghosts in that game don't damage you... they age you. My troll died of old age. Lol
i bought this game last time splat reviewed it , and havent been very happy with my bare hand murder machine
Love your videos splattercat
Looks like an homage to Runescape 1.
Oh, nice. Dridlicious had this one up for vote to play. but, people voted for the others. I was curious about it. (other games were 9th dawn3, betrayl at club low, and a couple others. those 2 were the ones he checked out)
To get potion making find an alchemy stand in town and use it.
Makes me think a lot of Stoneshard in certain aspects and mechanics
Here's a little secret about the game: The quarterstaff is actually a buck and a quarter quarterstaff.
i think that games looks like a hell of a lot of fun, ty Splattercatgaming
If you tickle me I'll throw hands and *mean* it. No tickling, ever. I'm hypersensitive to it and it's not OK.
Looks like the save system is far more forgiving than Stone Shard.
damn i just had to buy since it's still on summer sale, thanks Splatty :)
Oh god, I just moved from Caves of Qud to Tales of Maj'Eyal and now I got another game to worry about, lord have mercy on my free time.
I loved some phone game like this. It was called cardinals I think. Definitely gonna have to check this out 😊
I like the new updates.
First thought: it looks like a less graphic stoneshard.
End of video Splat calls it a poor man's stoneshard.
Validation!
1st comment I've been watching you for 8 years keep it up brother you've got real talent!!
These game reminds me of Dungeonmans.
Great video as always.
New game getting added to the wishlist. New Total 197
Reminds me of old Temple of Apshi
looks like great fun so far.
Just watching; i don't play games... Thanks for saving me so much time. Peace!
There is a potion that removes curses
This game reminds me of another Splat played awhile ago. I can't remember the name of it for the life of me. I remember that it was pretty brutal and you had to retreat alot. But it was the same looking graphics and style as this one.
pretty sure he's covered this game before, just doing it again cause more content now, the dev updates fairly regulary for a solo dev
Interesting, wish there was a demo, would like to see but don't know if I'd like it or no.
you have a 2 hour demo with any Stream game technically.
This is a great game. I only stopped playing it - for awhile - because updates kept requiring a new start. So I wasn't getting past the early game.
Hey Splat can you do a twitch stream on this game please? It looks interesting enough to see a stream about it
Dude i'm exactly the same when it comes to tickling, i litteraly punched closed friends by reflex for doing that. People don't understand that for some it's like actual torture, when you tickle me and i immediatly start struggling for breath it triggers flight or fight mechanism.
my character is a god mortal who now ponders the power of Daaduhls blessing, should I become behemoth, or do I ignore the vile power? It is such a hard choice.
love me some skill trees
Interesting... feels like a more serious version of Elona.
The true cost of this game isn't 15 dollars or less on sale. It's having to hear so many dogs make the sad whine sound when they die.
This looks pretty aeesome. I already have dungeonmans and stoneshard though
ah nope. who peels potatoes to make baked potatoes?
its like tinkertown
sorry your used to seeing colons....he he
You died just in the right moment, looks like a good game.
I appreciate the hardcoreness of this game but allowing you to save before entering every room kind of dulls it.
just seen you play this, so i wanted to pay my saved game again, found out my old saved couldnt be played so i have to start over again, and i was high lv.. owell
So its like Stoneshard but being developed?
was sold on this last time but still early access which is a nono for me.
So, isn't it just like Stoneshard?
Splattercat can stop showing good game's im not yet done playing death must die
🖤
ding
Chivalry is not merely "having manners". It is behavior befitting a knight. Knighthood is a specialized occupation and thus grants enhanced economic class. Only those with sufficiently enhanced class could even be said to perform chivalry due to elitism. So yes, even in real life, chivalry has always required much gold. It's a classist concept. No matter how good your manners were, if you weren't recognized by someone who could make you a knight, you were not chivalrous.
So basically a stoneshard clone, same kind of gameplay and structure.
I played like 100s of hours of each of Qud, Maj'Eyal, DCSS, and many other similar games, but I just couldn't get into this one.
The healing and food system is kind of broken, in that you run half-dead most of the time, and if you get a bit unlucky or play a bit poorly, then you'll need to spend all your money on food... and then still run out of food.
The monster strength seems very unbalanced, in that you easily work your way through the entire dungeon, and then you run into a boss that you can throw everything at and that would hardly make a dent.
The skill system seems very clunky, in that I just desperately want to level up my cooking (because food), but I also want to level up everything else so I can actually get better at the adventuring part, and so I don't lose out on all the resources I get, rather than just getting better at stuffing my face.
Maybe these problems get better once you get past the early game (or maybe I was just approaching it poorly), but I just couldn't stay interested for long enough to find out.
And the control scheme is possibly the worst I've ever seen, especially for a game which is otherwise this well-refined. Or, at least, there is no support for keyboard-only or primarily-keyboard - you have to use the mouse constantly. You can move around and attack, I think, with the keyboard, but you need the mouse to open any chests (and there may be other issues too with using the keyboard that I can't remember now).
It is early access, so maybe they fix all of that, but I'm not too optimistic about that happening.
The graphics would have been considered sub-par in the 80's. Its just not good enough for a game made in 2023. Hard pass.
hmmm.. no ill pass, just looks like a generic late 80s rpg
Meh...
I find the art style, especially character sprites, really ugly.
I think I would play it if it had ASCII gameplay mode, or better tileset.
why are all the really interesting games so darn ugly. i get that indie games dont have the money for shiny graphics but common.
Looks quirky and cool! 👍
