Thank you for the quick and detailed overview of the NR lineup. I recently ordered the NR1710 for my bedroom and I’m excited to connect it to my old TEAC AG-D7900 AVR!
@@princeboateng5002 The receiver has fantastic sound and power for smaller room and the setup and options are easy and plenty for veterans! @@crutchfield hi I have a Klipsch RP-250c center channel speaker and two front Klipsch left and right RP-600m bookshelve speakers and a Klipsch R-112SW Subwoofer. Do you think this Marantz Reciever will be good to power my speakers in. 3.1 setup?
First ever RUclips comment. Just wanted to say great review, simple explanations, lots of features covered and answered a lot of my questions. Many thanks!
Hello JR. I recently purchased a 5.1.2 RSL CG23 Surround Sound speaker setup. Would the NR1710 or NR1711 work well with these speakers in a mid size room? Specs seem to suggest yes, but would like your professional opinion...Thanks for your reply...
Interesting review, I’m planning to upgrade to this one. Can I used my 5 channel Amplifier using front speakers? Can I used other 3 channels of my amplifier in different room? Thank you for your good advice.
The currently still available Marantz NR1510 does have one set of front pre-amp outputs. You can send signal to your amplifier, but there is no zone 2 control or preamp outs specifically. This means you can use the other three channels for your speakers in different rooms, but they will have to play the same source signal as the two main speakers. I hope this helps!
I think about switching to it from Onkyo TX l50. Does it make sense? I have some issues with onkyo. But they have 80watt each chanel and these have only 50watt. Is this important for soundquality? I have movies with dolby hd and DTS hd and I only have 3.1 Klipsch speakers. Would this receiver be an upgrade or downgrade?
That Onkyo model isn't one we carried as it appears to be for markets outside the USA, but I found specs. Based on the details provided on how the 80 watts rating was figured (not with full range audio but with just a 1kHz tone played), I don't expect there to be any noticeable power difference between that Onkyo and these receivers. I don't have any experience with Onkyo slim line receivers to know how it stacks up to these models. The best recommendation I can give you is to check with a local retailer that has these any maybe the Onkyo as well to see if you can get help from them or a demo of both models running the same setup
Hi, thank's for the info. I am looking at the nr1710 but need an amp which can pass my audio from my digital tv (zone 1) to zone 2 also. Is this a feature which this amp has? I'm reading the spec sheet and not sure if I u understand it right but under "multi room out" it has analog but not digital. Can you assist?
The Marantz NR1710 does not provide you with the ability to play digital audio out, to a second zone. If you only need digital audio out, from your TV to a second zone in your home, the Yamaha AVENTAGE RX-A880 allow for zone 2 sources to be Digital (including optical/coaxial) and analog audio sources (including AM/FM radio); plus Bluetooth, USB, and Network sources can be output to Zone 2. You can have different sources playing in each zone or have the same source playing in both zones. Hi Sir is it possible to hook a pair of active speakers to the front LR pre-out and use the AVR amplifier to power the center and surround channels to get a satisfactory surround sound effect?
These receivers are built so that you can use external amplification to power the front left and right speakers making it possible to use powered speakers with them. As long as you those speakers are timbre matched to the center channel speaker, and ideally, the surround speakers as well, then the integrity of the home theater system will be intact and should produce an enjoyable home theater experience.
Thanks for the review. I've just set up my NR1510 and I was delighted to find that it will auto-switch between digital/analogue inputs - I have my CD player connected optically and my powered turntable connected via analogue RCA, both on the 'CD' input. If it finds a digital input (i.e. the CD player is switched on), it will default to that, otherwise it will select the analogue input. I've noticed that the volume is significantly louder when playing music from those inputs than on any of the HDMI - if I switch from TV to CD, the volume is unbearably loud and I have to turn it right down, likewise when I switch back the tv is so quiet you can't hear it until you turn the volume back up. Have I set configured something incorrectly?
Sounds like you may want to double check your HDMI connections and cable. From there, check your menu settings on the TV and receiver. Are you using the same speakers to listen via HDMI as for your turntable and CD listening?
go into settings on your amp and go to source level and crank it all the way up to twelve on all of your inputs you'II get a much fuller and louder sound and you won't have to have your volume turned up so high to hear anything

We do not carry or research computers to know for sure what can be done with the various models. That being said, I expect this can work as long as it has an optical or coaxial digital audio output, or an HDMI output that can send out audio too. If you are not sure on your computer, you may want to contact the manufacturer for details on it.
Thanks for the review of the Marantz NR1510 I’m ready to upgrade my 16 year old reciver with either this Marantz or the Yamaha RX-V485. I’m having same problem of choosing as well. I wanted to go with Marantz, but now may go with Yamaha only because of their wireless speaker option with musiccast? Not sure if I can add a wireless speaker to Marantz?
Hi Ray, Marantz is a HEOS compatible product, which is similar to MusicCast. Wireless speakers can be synced with either the NR150 or the NR1710 for multi-room audio playback. However, you are not able to use the HEOS speakers as wireless rear surrounds as you are able to do with the Yamaha MusicCast capable receivers and speakers. Marantz 1510 offers the most for the money you give. For example you can set Dolby digital from the menu. at the other receivers you need an external source to output Dolby. Marantz transforms your audio source into digital Dolby, plus it also has an equalizer on equalization tapes that I didn't see in the other receivers.
Hello from Istanbul. I plan to buy Marantz 1510. But I have a question mark in my head? I would appreciate it if you could help. The question mark is: Can this receiver power without problems for 2 kef q 150 and one kef q 650 c and finally one subwoofer? I would appreciate it if you could give detailed information. Note: I plan to use this device in a 40m2 hall. Thank you...
This Marantz receiver will be able to drive those speakers but not at super loud volume levels. This link will help you get an idea of the volume levels you can achieve with this receiver to check if it can meet your goals: ruclips.net/video/sYfHO-QdGJ4/видео.htmlsi=POZvu4yUzL8U_9Rs
Stereo sound quality over the pre-out RCA? Hello, I have a power amplifier and I would like a device to stream Spotify, FM and HDMI arc with pre-out RCA. Is there a difference in stereo sound quality between Marantz nr1510 and Marantz nr1200 in the pre-out? Is there kept the Marantz sound colour in the pre-out? Thank you, Petr
I would not expect any difference in the preamp outputs in regards to quality, levels, etc... I do expect they will have the typical Marantz sound (I have yet to hear a demo of the stereo receiver). The thing that will vary, and this might be the deciding factor on them, is the sound format each receiver gets from the source. Home theater receivers can take multi-channel audio formats and so will have streaming services and other devices send it that multi-channel audio that really should have a center channel speaker with the left/right speakers to hear the voices well. The stereo receiver will tell streaming services and other components to only send it the 2 channel audio track which typically has more voice in the left and right channels which can prevent a lot of headache in a 2 speaker setup.
Thank you very much, so I would stick with stereo device. Do you have any other tip for device that would stream Spotify, HDMI arc, FM and have pream function to variable pre-out RCA?
That Marantz is a really good option wit the features you are looking for. You might also consider this Arcam with their patented class G amp technology www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc290/p_410SR250B/Arcam-SR250.html

The signal coming into my Marantz SR7011 receiver shows sound as multi in + neural x and the signal as pcm, when I hit the info button on my remote. My source content is coming from amazon prime and youtube using an nvidia shield tv. I'm try to playback the content in Dolby Atmos. My tv is an Lg c8 oled connected to the Marantz via an hdmi cable.
Dolby Atmos will only play when it is fed with a Dolby Atmos source. If you purchased that receiver from us, you can reach out to our tech support department and we can see what is possible.

Hi, great video! Would you recommend these for a 5.1 system with monitor audio bronze 2 bookshelfs (100w)+ center + c180 x 2 (120w) . Are slim receivers too weak for these? I'm still very ignorant about it.
Monitor Audio Bronze speakers have a decent efficiency and don't always require a lot of power. Absolutely loved this video, fan of yours ! Can you pl suggest the next model up in Marantz slimline that outputs some more power? I have Mission 720 Floor standing speakers that do 125RMS per channel. Thanks in advance
At this time, the Marantz NR1510 and the NR1710, are the only slimline receivers, each of them delivering 50 watts RMS. Feel free to chat with us online or by phone, we may be able to find something that would still fit in your location, yet yield more power. www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc164/contact
It does have front L/R preamp outputs for connecting to an external stereo power amp. Will that work for your needs? Are there any other specific features or inputs you need?
That output allows a second area in the house share the input sources connected to the receiver along with independent control between the two rooms. Their on/off, volume control, and source being played have separate controls within the receiver. Since it is a preamp output, an amp would be needed to power passive speakers in the second location.
Thanks for your question! While these receivers do have a great sound quality, and perform very well, they're really geared toward home theater or could be a great addition if you wanted the best of both worlds with your surround, and sometimes listening to music. While both of these units could definitely provide you with a great setup, if you're looking for strictly 2 channel stereo, we do have other products that would give you more transparent sound, and more well-driven power to a nice set of speakers. If you're a fan of Marantz gear, check out the Marantz PM6006. An integrated amp would be a great solution for you. I have an older version of this reciver (the NR1604,) other than some more advanced software integration, I am not sure if it worth updating it. Any advice?
The NR1510, and the NR1710, do employee more advanced HDMI connectivity which will enable you to benefit from better sound quality, and image quality. 1)I have Klipsch Heresy II’s as my main speakers. Will the NR1510’s 50 watts be enough power? 2)Thinking about upgrading my subwoofer to a pair of SVS, maybe PB-2000’s? They’re in a good sized living room with a vaulted ceiling. Approx 25’x18’
This receiver will drive your Heresy II speakers. It will be just shy of their loudest possible levels; otherwise, they are a good match for power and sound quality. Plus this receiver has two subwoofer preamp outputs for connecting subs like those PB-2000. You may want to get the Pro version for the room gain control: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc227/p_946PB2KPBA/item.html
Is there an AVR that you’d recommend instead? I was thinking more power would be better. But didn’t necessarily want 7 channels I don’t need either. Seems like everything with more power has more channels. I have two AVR’s now. A Pioneer VSX-1019AH currently running my Heresy II’s (not happy with it). And a Onkyo TX-RZ610 running Klipsch Reference RF-3’s in the media room (love it, purchased with the advice and support of Crutchfield!)
More power will get you the best overall performance and sound quality. The Onkyo TX-NR6100 is an ideal match here: www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc921/p_580NR6100/item.html

Here's a video that we made which can shed some light on the power that is needed relative to distance and volume levels goals based on a speakers sensitivity:

Fantastic review thank you for your time.
you may not answer this ,
but can my pc play 5.1 games with the nr1510 receiver im finding it hard to get a right answer on google .
They say it will only play stereo thought the 5.1 receiver speakers can you help.
keep safe .thank you Darren
We do not carry or research computers to know for sure what can be done with the various models. That being said, I expect this can work as long as it has an optical or coaxial digital audio output, or an HDMI output that can send out audio too. If you are not sure on your computer, you may want to contact the manufacturer for details on it.
@@crutchfield thank you for such a quick response.
I'm going to purchase the 1510.
Making sense from your reply.
Thanks for getting back to me.
Thanks for the review of the Marantz NR1510 I’m ready to upgrade my 16 year old reciver with either this Marantz or the Yamaha RX-V485. Both the Marantz and the Yamaha review we’ll as 5.1 Home Theater Systems, but not sure witch of the two would be highly recommended by the professionals. Please help?
Good question Jerome - we agree that both are very solid choices and have been well received by our customers. It will likely depend on your personal preferences and tastes, sources you plan on using and some other variables. You can connect with one of our friendly, knowledgeable product advisors to help you weigh the pros and cons of each here:

I’m having same problem of choosing as well. I wanted to go with Marantz, but now may go with Yamaha only because of their wireless speaker option with musiccast? Not sure if I can add a wireless speaker to Marantz?
Hi Ray,
Marantz is a HEOS compatible product, which is similar to MusicCast. Wireless speakers can be synced with either the NR150 or the NR1710 for multi-room audio playback.
However, you are not able to use the HEOS speakers as wireless rear surrounds as you are able to do with the Yamaha MusicCast capable receivers and speakers.
Any member of our advisor team will be happy to answer questions, and help you choose the best receiver for your needs, Ray. Just get in touch!

This link will help you get an idea of the volume levels you can achieve with this receiver to check if it can meet your goals:

@@crutchfieldThanks very much.
Great review thanks. I was looking to pair the NR1710 with my newly ordered Klipsch RP600M s - have you’ll tried this pairing before? Any suggestions you might have? Also have an old Harman sub to go with it. Let me know.
That sounds like an outstanding pairing. Those Klipsch speakers are efficient enough to sound really nice with the power from the Marantz.
How do you connect marantz slimline receiver to heos cinema soundbar & wireless sub
Powered soundbars do not work in conjunction with receivers. They are exclusive and are not meant to be used in tandem.
Nice review tags. Pl let me know how to connect my new Marantz 1710 av reciever to Panasonic TV without having any Digital optical out, however had 2 no HDMI out ? Thanks
Which model Panasonic TV are you hoping to connect to this receiver?
i ordered 1510 but takes so long to arrive ordered 20th november and will be here end of december. I watched all the videos on it coz im too impatient
Hi Fran, hope you enjoy your new receiver!
Hi, would the 1510 be OK with a Klipsch Quintet speaker system? Thanks.
Yes that would be an excellent match with the Quintet system
Wow, thanks for the super fast reply!

😍😍Marantz😍😍
Loved the video and am currently looking to purchase the NR1510. Is it available in the silver/platinum or just black?
We currently only have it in black
How do I set up Video Select Listen?
Page 93 of the owner's manual covers this process. We keep a copy of the manual on our web site as a PDF files that can be downloaded using the link found in the What's in the Box section of the receiver's product page. Here is a link to the page for the NR1510:

What wireless speakers + subwoofers would pair best with these?
Home theatre + audiophile music would their primary purpose, paired with a 4K HiSense and a Apple TV 4K
One of our advisor could go over what options are available for that receiver! bit.ly/2KP1zS3
There are definitely rooms and performance levels for which these Marantz slim receivers will work well. We have advisors that can discuss your setup and goals to give a personal recommendation on if they will work for you. Here's how to reach us for this help:

Absolutely loved this video, fan of yours ! Can you pl suggest the next model up in Marantz slimline that outputs some more power? I have Mission 720 Floor standing speakers that do 125RMS per channel. Thanks in advance
At this time, the Marantz NR1510 and the NR1710, are the only slimline receivers, each of them delivering 50 watts RMS.
Feel free to chat with us online or by phone, we may be able to find something that would still fit in your location, yet yield more power.
www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc164/contact
Is 50 Watts per channel good enough for the Elac Debut 2.0 B6.2
Yes - that Marantz would have enough to drive a pair of Elac Debut 2.0 B6.2s nicely.
Hi, how is NR 1510 as pre amp, if I have power amp, using for stereo music? Ty
It does have front L/R preamp outputs for connecting to an external stereo power amp. Will that work for your needs? Are there any other specific features or inputs you need?
@@crutchfield no need another features...Like to know what is the quality Nr 1510 using it as pre amp,? is it the same quality as SR 5015?
Ty
The DAC in the NR1510 is a lot better than the DAC used in the SR5015. The NR1510 is a better preamp for stereo sound than the SR5015
@@crutchfield ty...than would be ok combination with NR 1510 as preamp with power amp. Which DAC is in NR 1510 and in SR 5105?
There is no information on a brand for the DAC. The NR1510 uses a 32-bit/768kHz DAC while the SR5015 uses a 32-bit/192kHz DAC
What is for zone2 portion in preout section.?
That output allows a second area in the house share the input sources connected to the receiver along with independent control between the two rooms. Their on/off, volume control, and source being played have separate controls within the receiver. Since it is a preamp output, an amp would be needed to power passive speakers in the second location.
Can I use this as a 3.1 system? And do they support HDMI 2.1 ? thanks
these could be configured as a 3.1, yes. The HDMI version is 2.0b.
Do you think 50w/ch are enough for Klipsch rp-280F??
They are pretty efficient speakers but they would probably sound their best with a bit more than that.
Crutchfield thanks for your reply I’ll consider that
I have the same question but for the klipsch rf600 (a 5.1.2 ring) www.klipsch.com/products/rp-600m-5-1-2-dolby-atmos-home-theater-system
Can this receiver run the Accoustimas 10 V ?
These receivers sure can run that Bose speaker system
how to connect youtube tv to a marantz nr1510 avr
What component are you using to stream RUclips TV? What type of AV outputs does it have?
@@crutchfield AV outputs: HDMI, OPTICAL, USB AND RCA
Using the HDMI or optical inputs will work best. Do you have cables?
Would you recommend this as a 2 channel music system?
Thanks for your question!
While these receivers do have a great sound quality, and perform very well, they're really geared toward home theater or could be a great addition if you wanted the best of both worlds with your surround, and sometimes listening to music. While both of these units could definitely provide you with a great setup, if you're looking for strictly 2 channel stereo, we do have other products that would give you more transparent sound, and more well-driven power to a nice set of speakers.
If you're a fan of Marantz gear, check out the Marantz PM6006. An integrated amp would be a great solution for you. Feel free to get in touch with us if you would like more info, or to get a more personalized recommendation and advice!

Thanks a lot, I appreicate the quick and detailed response. What would you suggest I pair with this if I want internet radio? I use mostly bluetooth and am/fm, which is why it seems an avr would work great but my primary focus would be on great sound quality so I'm looking at the pm6006 as you suggested.
You can keep that sound quality and add the HEOS Link to it and get Internet Radio stations as well as some higher level streams for some of the streaming services:
www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc227/p_033HEOLNK2/item.html
Thanks for your help and suggestions!
You're welcome!
Are any of them 80 watts yet?
Watts don't matter, (for that most part) sound quality does. Unless you have an enormous room, you'll be fine.
I have an older version of this reciver (the NR1604,) other than some more advanced software integration, I am not sure if it worth updating it. Any advice?
The NR1510, and the NR1710, do employee more advanced HDMI connectivity which will enable you to benefit from better sound quality, and image quality.
An Advisor will be happy to assist you in finding if the upgrades that are present in the newer model receivers are of high importance to you, and provide you with the info you need if you choose to upgrade.

No DAB+ ?
We sell in the U.S. market where DAB+ is not used
is this 15120 compatibile with HDCP 2.2 protocol?
It sure is! It's compatible all the way up to HDCP 2.3
You may want to get the Pro version for the room gain control:
www.crutchfield.com/I-rYTVc227/p_946PB2KPBA/item.html
@@crutchfield Thanks. I'll look into that unit.
You're welcome!
These look real interesting, but the reviews of both on Amazon are awful. Not sure what to conclude.
