Amy, as a former first-grade teacher, your video brought back all the feels and made me miss the classroom! The way you create such joy and care for your students, from crafting paper crowns to transforming the room with snowflakes, is so inspiring. Those moments when the kids light up with happiness are truly priceless. I have to admit, I didn’t love Somewhere Beyond the Sea. But hearing your reflections on it-especially about the humor and found family themes-makes me wonder if I need to revisit my thoughts. Your plans for the new year, from organizing your space to tackling your favorite classroom units, are exciting to hear about. Shadow and Reflections and Things That Grow sound like such rich and inspiring topics-I’d love to see how you bring those to life in your classroom. Looking forward to your goals video and what’s ahead for you in 2025!
@@amy_harboredinpages we finally get out of the shire; the quest gets moving & then we spend all this time with a character that doesn't factor at all into the overall plot. IMO Tom Bombadil kind of sucks. I've committed blasphemy! Tolkien fought in WW1 so I respect him. He was a brilliant man. I just feel the introduction of Tom is in the wrong place, because it kills the momentum.
@dustinneely you make a good point. He isn't really fleshed out. Makes me wonder if the encounter could have been possibly shorter but still useful in context when it was suggested they give the ring to his keeping. Better yet, I feel Tom may have been better placed with the Hobbit... he too whimsical for the darker Lord of the Rings.
@@amy_harboredinpages If I was JRR's editor I would have suggested cutting them completely or moving these chapters after The Prancing Pony and before Rivendell. I want to get to the Ring Wraiths!

Paper snowflakes - that's so much fun! I've been trying to decide whether or not to read the new TJ Klune book. Nice to see you gave it 4.5. Peace!

@barbaraalker4653 thank you so much!
Not a Tom Bombadil fan.
@dustinneely I can understand & makes sense why he wasn't integral to the Jackson films. I didn't miss him. 😉
