I'm in the process of building my Thanksgiving Day cookie plate. Every year, for about 45 years, I've taken a cookie plate to Thanksgiving Day Dinner. I always like to include 2 of the family favorites in the selection, but add 2 or 3 kinds of new recipes. All my new recipes this year are coming from Sugar Spun Run and I need to include these because they look amazing! Thank you, Sam!
If you want to shake things up and add something a little special to your cookie plate that’s sweet, but not a cookie for people who don’t eat flour based food for whatever reason, check out the candied walnuts recipe on this channel. They are easy to make, inexpensive and addictively delicious. One tip, double or triple the recipe because you’re going to end up eating a lot of them during the “quality assurance review” if you’re anything like me. Alternatively, you could add them to cookies instead of plain nuts which is on my to-do list. Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Those cookies look phenomenal. You and Nikki “Pineapple” did a fantastic job!!! I never knew about the room temperature butter / eggs tip, so thanks for that. Have you ever made caramelized white chocolate? I just learned about it recently and I’m intrigued. Here’s a description: “It produces a chocolate that is off-white, a light golden color. It still tastes sweet but also caramel-like.” Finally, the stand mixer behind you is obviously a boy because it’s blue. 🤷🏻♂️ Your shy, rarely seen dark red mixer is a girl. I hope that clears everything up. 😁
I use a hand mixer/stand mixer a lot for cookies, I don’t care if I get broken pieces of chocolate or m&ms within the cookies. So I’m sure using one won’t hurt. Whatever makes you comfortable, you should do.
Those cookies look delicious. But you do have me thinking. I have made several, and I do mean several, Levain copycat chocolate chip cookie recipes over the years. My favorite so far are by Joshua Weitzman. But there are sometimes where the cookies appear greasy. I do use brown butter, I tend to refrigerate them overnight and then bake them. Now I'm wondering if it's because I didn't let the brown butter cool enough before adding it to the other ingredients? I'll have to re-visit that recipe and see how they turn out. But I now want to make these cookies. Your recipes always look delicious. And some of the things that I've baked that are my favorites come from your channel. Your carmelitas recipe is amazing.
@@SugarSpunRun Did it yesterday without any nuts and they are amazing anyway! Thanks for this recipe, love your channel :) I made one batch where I pressed them a bit, they got super-flat after baking, however me and my wife think they taste even better than the puffy ones :)

I prefer using measuring cups. I'm old school!
I'm dyslexic, using a scale was too frustrating & challenging
A measuring scale just measures a lot more accurately,.
Can I use a hand mixer? I have nerve issues in my right arm & it hurts me to stir dough to much.

This will make 28 cookies. You'd need about 50% increase to make the pumpkin cheesecake bars in a 9 x 13. I'm so glad you enjoy everything so much! :)
