Sehr authentische Aufführung dieses spätromantischen Meisterwerks mit perfekter Artikulation im präzisen Tempo. Seine klare Aussprache und wunderschöne Stimme sind ewig unvergleichlich. Echt Klasse!

I remember an April 1967 radio interview where FD said he would not sing Liebst du um Schönheit (noting the " Meehrfrau" reference) because it should be sung by a woman, yet here, 4 months later, he sings it!

Mahler never orchestrated the second song. It was orchestrated by Max Puttmann in 1905, who was an editor who worked for the publisher, C.F. Kahnt. His name was never listed on the score. It wasn't until 1975 that it was discovered that GM had nothing to do with the orchestral version.

Puttmann was a critic and copyist with Kahnt publishers which published some of Mahler's works. I think he did a capable job of echoing Mahler's style.
